Pirating Through The Big East- A Seton Hall Legacy

    Seton Hall Dynasty
    Game: College Hoops 2k8
Rosters: 2008-2009 Version with Jukeman's Recruiting Edits
    Sliders: Z Revis' with Tweaks
    Time: 12 min Quarters

I have simulated the first 4 years and will continue from there, playing every game on the season except ones where my overall is better than 10 of my opponent, unless that game is a Big East regular season game. Enjoy.

I will always, always be a Jets fan. But trust me it hurts.

            Seton Hall Slammed by Violations

It is a gloomy day for the Seton Hall basketball program, as they receive a huge setback. Two years after one of their most succesful seasons in history, the program has been found guilty by the NCAA for violations in recruiting.

The NCAA gave no word on what these violations were, and when, and how they occurred. All that was claimed was that Bobby Gonzalez was not involved with any of these violations, and in fact it was an assistant of the team that was going against NCAA rules. Gonzalez claims he had no knowledge, and believe him or not, the NCAA has sided with him, and he will remain the Seton Hall Head Coach.

The NCAA however, did strip Seton Hall of all their scholarships for this year, which means they will have no recruits for this current season. All their recruits they had before have since left the program, and moved on to another school. The Hall is now only filled with former players coming off a 7-23 season, or walk-ons. The future isn't bright for the Pirates. Hopefully, Bobby Gonzalez can get us out of these hard times.

Seton Hall starts the season with a home against New Jersey Institute of Technology.

I've always thought about putting some sort of penalty on my team too. Good luck!

                  NJIT shocks Pirates

When people think of New Jersey Institute of Technology, they think of winless seasons and no success. Well today, NJIT proved all nay-sayers wrong with a win over a Big East school, in Seton Hall. NJIT controlled the entire game at the Prudential Center, and ignored a strong Pirate comeback late in the game, to win 58-55.

The Engineers had as much as an 11 point lead in the game, and dominated much of the first half going into the break up by 8. They forced Seton Hall into foul trouble making center George Shumate eventually foul out, and Courtney Hayes pick up 4. After the first half, Seton Hall didn't make much of an effort to comeback, and with 6 minutes to go, they still trailed by 8. From then Seton Hall made a risky decision to switch things up, and go to zone. They went to a 2-3 zone, and even a trapping 1-3-1. This helped create rushed shots and turnovers, but still offensively nothing budged.

The NJIT stifled the Pirates defensively and grew their lead to 10 with 3 minutes left. This is when the Pirates made their final stand, creating several turnovers and Allison, Bodden, and Jeffries hit back to back to back 3s. With only a minute left on the clock, they trailed 3. A Allison-Hudson pick and roll worked perfectly for the Hall, and they cut the lead to 1 with 40 seconds left. NJIT rushed with a quick shot and it was no good. Allison got the rebound and pushed the ball up the court, until he turned it over in the middle of traffic. NJIT's Brickens grabbed the ball and was immediately fouled. He missed his free throw and the Pirates had one last shot. Nothing occurred on offense for the first 25 seconds, and Allison tried to create for himself. He got a little past his man, and pulled up for a 15 foot jumper. It rattled out, NJIT recovered the loose ball, and went on to win by 3.

Certainly Head Coach Bobby Gonzalez is dissapointed with this loss as NJIT is one of the smaller schools in the nation. Even with walk-ons Big East teams don't lose games like this. Looks to be a long year for the men in blue.

                  Statistics

                  NJIT
                  PG F.Northern 12 points 7 assists
                  SG A. Whittington 15 points
                  SF C. Brickens 8 points 6 rebounds

                  Seton Hall
                  T. Bennett 10 points
                  E. Jeffries 13 points
                  M. Bodden 13 points
