Thanks. My boss actually changed his mind about me starting on my first project so i've got some down time to hopefully get a bunch of hoops in. i'm up by the water in connecticut now so i'll have to split my time between the beach and doing updates. good to be back.

After a big win in Huntington, the Louisville Cardinals remained on fire last night with yet another blow out win. Their latest victim was the USF Bulls. After a nine point halftime lead, the Cardinals would not let up as they ended the game with a twenty-five point victory

Forward Rudolph Cohen led all in scoring with 22 points on the game for the Cardinals. Cohen also recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds along with his 4 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. Cohen has been a big contributer on both ends of the ball all season.

Terrell Causwell continued his up and down play, this game being an up game. Causewell sank six of his ten three point attempts and ended the game with 20 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. When Causwell finds the net from deep, there is just no losing for Louisville

USF's only offensive threat is center Diego Vasquez. The Cardinals were unable to contain him in this game, but they shut down everyone else. Vasquez went off for 21 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 5 blocks. Nobody else on the Bulls team recorded more than seven points. Emmitt Austin also did a fine job on the boards for the Cards recording 12 rebounds over Vasquez.

"Vasquez ate us up down low, but Austin held his own in the rebounding battle," Coach Nolan commented. "We know he is a great player, and we knew he would get his points, so we focused on shutting everybody else down. Rocky [Swoger] had a great game off the bench too with 12 points in 10 minutes, that is the kind of bench contribution we are looking for. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going headed out to New Jersey next game."

The next match up for Nolan's Cardinals are the Seton Hall Pirates. The Pirates are 10-5 overall and 0-3 in conference. Seton Hall is off to a disappointing start with such an experience team of three junior and two senior starters. Louisville will look to shut down Kent (18.1 ppg), Korver (11.3 PPG, 4.1 APG), and Rohde (10.3 PPG, 6.3RPG) if they hope to keep their winning streak alive. With performances like tonight, Louisville again looks all but unbeatable.

Really great dynasty you got going here, just spent an hour reading it.

One suggestion: After every season post your record in that thing where it shows your record from every year you've coached.

The Louisville Cardinals almost let the game last night spin out of control in the second half. After amassing a sixteen point halftime lead, the Cardinals came out flat and let Seton Hall score 45 second half points. Luckily for Louisville, they were able to match their first half performance and put up another 41 points. Although the final score says not to worry, this twelve point win was much closer than it seemed.

Rudolph Cohen continued his dominance on the offensive side of the ball for the Cards and ended with a game high 17 points. Cohen also grabbed 7 rebounds on the day. Although he did not hit many of his shots from the floor, he was able to cash in 12 of 19 from the charity stripe.

The Austin-Dillard split time at centered seemed to work perfectly last night as well with Austin scoring 16 points, 5 boards and 3 blocks in 23 minutes and Dillard recording 13 points and 4 rebounds in 13 minutes. Dillard has shown flashes of brilliance this season, but still needs to develop further to take back his starting spot in the Cardinal's lineup.

Seton Hall were shut down in the first half, but their top scoring trio of Kent, Korver, and Rohde stepped up after halftime. The downfall of the Pirate offense was their three point shooting as Seton Hall only shot 4 of 22 from deep on the game. This could have been due to an off night on offense, or maybe the Louisville guards have clamped down on defense due to their previous poor play.

"We went out there and just threw in the towel on defense in the second half," Nolan explained. "This is not something that will be tolerated from this team. If you play at Louisville, you PLAY at Louisville. If any of my players give up on defense like this again, they will quickly find themselves on the bench."

Next up for the Cardinals are the rival Cincinnati Bearcats. Cincy stands at 12-4 overall, but has fallen to 1-2 in conference play thus far. The Bearcats are always a tough match up, and with four starting seniors in their lineup, they look to put up a fight again this year. Additionally, Cincinatti is coming off back to back losses to St. John's and South Florida and will be looking to right the ship with a signature win over a ranked Louisville team.

Should be a fun one coming up against Cincinnati.

It is not very often that a rivalry game ends in a blowout, but that is exactly what happened last night in Cincinnati. The Bearcats were outplayed in every facet of the game and let Louisville get out to a fifteen point halftime lead and ending with an eighteen point victory. The two will meet again later this season in Louisville, and the Bearcats will certainly want to even the score with their hated rival.

Terrell Causwell had another stellar game last night leading all in scoring with 24 points. He was deadly from three point land, shooting 6 for 12 and also cashed in all four of his free throw attempts. Causwell also added 2 rebounds and 1 steal on the day. His guard play eclipsed the fact that Dennehey only recorded 10 minutes before fouling out.

Emmitt Austin did not take kindly to Dillard's numbers last game and proved again why he deserves the starting center role for the Cards. Austin shot lights out sinking 8 of 13 from the field and ending the game with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, and 3 blocks. Austin also did a great job on the defensive end, only allowing opposing big man Dustin Bigelow to score 9 points and 7 boards.

Guards Aaron Sidney and Victor Brewington had solid games from the field for Cincinnati, but the lack of defense could not be overcome for the Bearcats. Sidney had 16 points and Brewington added 20 of his own. Brewington's game was a bit more impressive as he was guarded by a forward all game. Rose not only failed to play good defense, but was shut down by Brewington on the other end of the floor, only contributing 4 of his own points. Perhaps it is time for Coach Nolan to go back to a three guard lineup to get more production from his players.

"We'll take a road win any way we can get it," Coach Nolan commented after the big win. "They thought it would be okay to start throwing elbows when they were down at halftime, so I thought it would be okay to leave my starters in for most of the game. Start taking cheap shots at our team and we will make you pay, we showed that tonight and we won't back down."

The Cardinals head back home this weekend to host the Providence Friars. The Friars sit at 7-9 overall and 1-3 in conference so far this season. Their lone win came against West Virginia last night, so they will be looking to build momentum against Louisville. Providence spreads the ball around a lot and their leading scorer, Kevin Eitutavicius, only averages 10 points per game, but is shooting 42% from deep on the season. The Friars are a developing team with three juniors, one sophomore, and one freshman in the starting lineup, and only one senior coming off of the bench. This game should be a great match up as the Friars try to pull themselves out of the basement while the Cardinals play for Coach Nolan's 200th career win. Will they be able to pull it off in front of an electric crowd at a sold out Freedom Hall?

Mopped the floor with them. I'm pumped for a shot at my 200th career victory against Providence, probably wont get to it until tomorrow night.

That would be a really good accomplishment, good luck.

Looks like the Big East isn't really any more of a challenge then CUSA was for you.

Yea, pretty disappointing so far but I have only really played one good team (UConn) who beat me. My conference games have been mostly against the bottom feeders and Pitino left me with 2 NBA players. Hopefully I will get knocked on my *** a few times before the season is over, but I won't be disappointed with a stroll to a national championship either.

Here are the projected Big East standings from the beginning of the season, looks like my schedule is backloaded with talent. Looks like I'm right on par for now:
                                1. #11 Notre Dame (91 OVR)
                                2. #10 UConn (91 OVR) - L
                                3. #23 Pittsburgh (91 OVR)

                                5. #14 Villanova (90 OVR)
                                6. Louisville (88 OVR)
