Sacramento Kings - Journey to the top. (Please delete other one)

So after checking out just about every dynasty on this site, I've decided to start my own.

I plan to try and take the Sacramento Kings to the top, even if that means sitting in last for the next few seasons.

With this dynasty I plan on have highlight from most, if not all, games. I'll post all stats along with the news around the league every so often. I plan to simulate the games I think are "less important", but I'll try to play more than I simulate.

    Settings
    • Team: Sacramento Kings
    • Game Mode: Dynasty (Obviously)
    • Simmed Quarter Length: 12 Minutes
    • Played Quarter Length: 8 Minutes
    • Game Difficulty: All-Star
    • Playoffs: 7-7-7-7 Format

    Alright, here's the low down.

I simulated the first season, just so I could "catch up" to present day. So here's the first season, and everything that happened.

    2009-10 Sacramento Kings Season Overview
    • Traded Beno Udrih for Tracy McGrady. (CPU offered trade)
    • Finished with a 40-42 record, just missing the playoffs.
    • Deron Williams received MVP for regular season.
    • Tyreke won ROY and made the All Rookie 1st Team.
    • Celtics and Nuggets met in finals, with the Celtics taking the title in 5 games.
    • Ray Allen was Finals MVP.

Now I'm starting the Off-Season, and I'll update just as soon as I'm finished with that and the first game.

      Off-Season Overview.

      Off Season Overview

After finishing 9th in the West just missing the playoffs, the Sacramento Kings look to make some changes in the off season. Receiving the 13th and 26th picks in the NBA Draft, the Kings started their scouting early. Hosting 6 days of prospect invites and a total of 60 incoming rookies to scout closely.

      The 2010-11 NBA Draft

With the 13th and 26th picks in the NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings picked the following:

      1st Round

      13th Overall - Dale Mason - Photo
NBA Comparison - Gilbert Arenas (minus the guns)
An athletically gifted 6'3, 202 pound, point guard, from Cal-Santa Barbara is just what the Kings needed. A guard to add more depth on the bench and bail out Tyreke when he gets into foul trouble. If this rookie wants to keep his spot in the team, he's going to have to work for it.

      2nd Round

      26th Overall - Carl Erwin - Photo
      NBA Comparison - Eduardo Najera
More of a desperation move, the Kings chose the 6'9, 227 pound, small forward from NC State to hopefully make a nice addition to their post game.

The Kings are anxious to see if their newly gained rook's can live up to expectations.

      Player Resigning

With 5 of their players open for Free Agency, the Kings has to decide quickly on who was in and who was out. Tracy McGrady was resigned for a 4yr, 60 million dollar deal; Carl Landry was resigned as well, getting a 2yr, 20 million dollar deal. Players not returning were Sean May, Dominic McGuire, and Jon Brockman.

      Free Agent Signing

Looking for another big man to help Spencer Hawes and Carl Landy down low, the Kings went into the Free Agent period on the lookout. Zydrunas Ilguaskas was offered a contract of 2 years and 11 million, and he jumped at the chance of playing with Kings. No others were added to the roster, but the season is just beginning.

The 2010-'11 Off-Season was one of high interest, since stars from all around were scheduled to be Free Agents. Among these stars were Dwayne Wade, who ultimately decided he would resign with the Heat on 4 year 60 million dollar deal. LeBron James was also among the unrestricted stars and he rejected offers from the Cavs and signed with the Chicago Bulls on a 4 year 59 million dollar contract, but that's not all. Chris Bosh and Dirk Nowitzki were also testing the FA waters and each found new homes. Bosh signed a 4 year 60 million dollar deal with Oklahoma City, and Nowitzki signed a 4 year 50 million dollar deal with the New York Knicks. Other transactions were made as well, and you can see those below.

      Notable Transactions
LeBron James - Chicago (4 year, 59.74 Mill)
Chris Bosh - Oklahoma City (4 year, 62.34 Mill)
Dwayne Wade - Miami (4 year, 63.71 Mill)
Dirk Nowitzki - New York (4 year, 57.01 Mill)
Derrick Rose - Phoenix (2 year, 11.11 Mill)
Robin Lopez - Phoenix, (2 year, 4.25 Mill)
      Zyrdrunas Ilguaskas - Sacramento ( 2 year, 11 Mill)
Amare Stoudemire - Washington (2 year, 31.86 Mill)
Marc Gasol - Washington (1 year, 3.40 Mill)

Seems as though the top contenders this year are Chicago, Phoenix, and Oklahoma.

Game One (Suns) of the 2010-11 Season coming soon.

McGrady Still Has It & Rookie Wows Fans.

After starting the game on an impressive 10-0 run, the Kings knew it was going to be a fun night. The Phoenix Suns made a climb back into reach and evetually tied it up with 5 seconds to go in the first quarter. Carl Landry threw the ball in to Tyreke Evans, and a long pass and 4.1 seconds later, Tracy McGrady nailed a buzzer beating three-pointer to make the score 20-17 going into the 2nd quarter. the second quarter was much the same with McGrady and Evans each going 2/2 from the 3 point line, and make thing score at the half, 41-33. Coming out at half Tyreke quickly picked up his 3rd foul and was taken out, his replacement was this years 13th overall pick in the NBA Draft, Dale Mason. The ball was taken out and he fired a 3-pointer and it was good.
Going into the fourth quarter the score was 68-54, and Tracy McGrady threw down one of the nastiest dunks I've ever seen. From there on out, the Kings never looked back. The final score was 100-78, a great night for the Kings. Tracy McGrady was the high-point man with 33 points and 5 blocks, and just behind his impressive play was Tyreke Evans with 17 points and 9 assists. Dale Mason also had an impressive debut with 13 points going 3/5 from the beyond the perimeter. The Suns were led by Channing Fyre who finished with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Steve Nash finished with 13 points, and 11 assists.

I am liking this better already.. Getting McGrady and resigning him already seems to be paying off and even though Mason isn't highly rated it looks like the rookie can play some ball...

Yeah, I thought McGrady was a good move too. As for the rookie, I'm throwing him in every single training camp drill I can, I think he'll be a great player if I can just build his ratings up a little.

              Kings vs Spurs

Landry Grabs Double-Double & Rookie Shines Once Again

              (1-0) VS (2-0)

The Kings had their first away game Monday night as they headed to the AT&T Center to take on the 2-0 San Antonio Spurs. The game started out with the Spurs taking an early lead of 10-4. After a few baskets were traded, Tracy McGrady and Tyreke Evans combined to go on a 12-2 run, making the score 22-16 going into the second quarter. The second quarter was evenly balanced with the Kings outscoring the Spurs by only 5 points (17-12). Going into half time the score was a decently close 39-28. The third quarter was a different story. Richard Jefferson took over. He scored 18 of his 28 putting the Spurs within 7. In the fourth quarter Carl Landry grabbed his 11th and 12th points giving him a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds. Ultimately the Kings would go on to win it, 90 to 81. Tracy McGrady was the high point man with 29 points. Tyreke Evans added 20, and rookie Dale Mason added 13 of his own. The Kings head to New Orleans to face the Hornets, Wednesday.

Thanks, I loved how one of my bench players blocked Duncan. Actually though, Jason Thompson is doing a lot better when he's in than Spencer Hawes. I'm thinking about a change there, if you know what I mean.

Like the start of your dynasty so far. Good Luck with your Kings. I wish NBA Live had more realistic dynasties though. Like Derrick Rose has a team option, why would Chicago decline that? Anyways, I'm following. I Like the T-Mac move, him and Evans could make some noise in the West. Maybe crack the playoffs.
I will always, always be a Jets fan. But trust me it hurts.

Thanks, yeah that's one of the reasons I wish I had 2K, that and the Association Mode, by the way I love yours.

Yeah, hopefully we can reach the playoffs, I don't want to win it or even go too far, but I hope we at least get the 7 seed.

                        Game 3

                        Overtime in Orleans

                        (2-0) Vs (1-1)

Wednesday night the Kings went into to Orleans Arena, expecting to take control of the game and the Hornets; they were terribly mistaken. Chris Paul, as expected, dropped 38 points and dished out 10 assists to give the Kings a scare.
The 1st quarter ended on a Hornet 10-0 run, giving them the 22-19 lead going into the 2nd. The second quarter belonged to Sacramento, who outscored New Orleans 28-24. The second half of the game was much the same with both teams trading baskets. It was with 5.6 seconds left, when the fun started. Chris Paul got the ball feom inbound and launched a prayer from nearly half-court, tying the game up at 98. Tracy McGrady was the Kings goto guy, but failed to hit the buzzer beater sending the game into overtime. In overtime the Hornets controlled the tip-off and went on a gut wrenching 10-0 run. The Kings were ready to take their first loss. Tracy McGrady had different plans. He hit three 3-pointers and penetrated to the rim to put the Kings up by 1. Tyreke Evans and Carl Landry both added 6 points combined from there, and despite Paul's efforts, the Hornets lost, 115 to 112. Tracy McGrady was the hero of the night, putting up an astounding 53 points! Rookie Dale Mason added 17 and Tyreke Evans added 16 of his own.

I think what I will do is play three, and then simulate two. The season will go by faster and updates will come a lot faster as well. When I post the simulated games, I'll also post league news and such.

                          Simulated Games

                          (3-0)Sacramento Kings vs Memphis Grizzlies(1-1)
                          83 - 50 W
Player Of The Game - Omri Casspi - 32 Points & 7 Rebounds

                          (4-0)Sacramento Kings vs Utah Jazz(3-2)
                          61-50 W
Player Of The Game - Tyreke Evans - 17 Points & 5 Assists

Yes, I realize those scores are extremely low, but I have the minutes for simmed on 12, so I don't know what the problem could be.

                            (5-0) Vs (2-3)

Arriving to the Bradley Center on Tuesday night to face a 2-3 Milwaukee Bucks team - led by sophomore point guard Brandon Jennings - Kings' head coach Paul Westphal had a different starting five in mind. At point guard he would place rookie, Dale Mason; at shooting guard, Tyreke Evans; at small forward, Tracy McGrady; and keeping the two bigs the same.
"It definitely paid off, and I'll use this rotation a lot more," stated Westphal in a post-game interview. The Kings' won the game 120-111, but it was the rookie Dale Mason who received all the praise. Shooting 9/19 (6 were 3-pointers), Mason finished the game with 25 points and 10 assists, giving him his first career double-double. Westphal also commented on the rookies future saying,
"He can be an all-star, and I have no doubts at all, he just has to find a better work ethic." Westphalthen continued to talk about Mason's future with the Kings' saying they would work it out in the off-season. Behind Mason's performance Tyreke Evans added 39, McGrady dropped 26, and Carl Landry and Spencer Hawes added 30 rebounds and 30 points combined, with each having a double-double. Brandon Jennings was the Bucks top performer with 53 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds. The Kings' are on their way to Quicken Loans Arena, Thursday night to take on the 0-7 Cavaliers.

Cavs are 0-7?! What happened, LeBron fall in a hole or something?

This is looking good though bro. I could almost predict you picking up either McGrady or Carter.
