My Legacy (greatest title ever - I know)

After I talked over with Big Deuce Deuce I decided to start posting my legacy here. Except before I get started (well restart it) I’m going to post the remainder of a player lock legacy I started over at 2ksports. For those who don’t know a few years ago I had a player (Corey Haas) on Western Michigan, and he had a good career I think 1 national championship. I decided to bring him back (different position though) and do a player lock legacy. I’ll get everyone caught up in recaps of each year, then finish his senior year, before going back to my closed legacy.

    Freshman Year

Won first game 55-43, Haas only had 12 points and 6 rebounds (his lowest point total ever)

WMU won next game, but lost number three to Cal. Haas put up a combined 44 points (26 against Cal), 14 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals.
In their 4th game it was the start of the NIT, they beat High Point 83-62 and Haas would get a triple-double (first of many) with 17 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists.

In round two WMU and Haas knocked off then ranked Washington. Haas had 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists to go with the game winning three pointer.

WMU would lose the following day against Saint Joseph’s. Haas had 18 points, 2 rebounds and 10 assists.

In the 9th game of the season he got his 2nd triple-double in a 99-85 win against Columbia. 30 points (career high thus far) 10 rebounds and 12 assists.

A few games later he had 18 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists in a big win against Northwestern. Then a 20 point, 13 rebound and 12 assist performance right after. Then after that 26 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists. He’d come with in 1 rebound of another consecutive triple double where Stephen Curry’s team hit a half court shot to win in OT.

Through out the entire season he’d put up similar numbers. In fact 19 games into the season he had 13 double doubles & 6 triple doubles. 3 games later he had his best career nightas he finished with 39 points, 10 rebounds, 13 assists and 10 steals.

After the regular season ended he had 24 Double Doubles, 14 Triple Doubles and 1 Quadruple Double. He had a 43 point performance as well.

Western Michigan finished 23-8 (13-3 MAC), and won the regular season MAC title.

The top 3 scorers in the nation were:
    Corey Haas: 25.5 PPG (#1), 10.5 RPG (#14), 9.2 APG (#1), 3.2 SPG (#1) (Draft Buzz: 1st RD)
    Stephen Curry: 25.3 PPG (#2), 5.0 RPG, 1.3 APG, 2.2 SPG (#32) (Draft Buzz: 1st RD)
Tyler Hansbrough: 24.1 PPG (#3), 7.5 RPG (Draft Buzz: Top Pick)

However in the semi-finals WMU lost to Kent State 82-64. We’d still get a 10 seed and face Davidson once again.

    Round 1 Vs Davidson: W 90-78. Haas 35 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists

    Round 2 Vs Nevada: W 79-61. Haas 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists (Nevada defeated 2 seed G’Town 70-63)

Sweet 16 Vs UConn: W 90-86. Haas 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (He got injured in 1st half, but came back WMU trailed 41-22 at one point)

Elite Eight Vs UNC: W 68-62. Haas (still hurt) 27 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. (played this game very slow paced for most of it to keep them from running)

Final Four Vs Xavier: W 79-76. Haas (still hurt) 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

National Championship Vs Kansas: L 84-65. Haas 22 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. (Luck just ran out)

Player of the Year: Corey Haas, Western Michigan
Mid-Major Player of the Year: Corey Haas, Western Michigan
Freshman of the Year: Corey Haas, Western Michigan

MAC Coach of the Year: Steve Hawkins, Western Michigan
MAC Player of the Year: Corey Haas, Western Michigan

1st Team Freshman All-American: Corey Haas, Western Michigan
1st team All-Conference: Corey Haas, Western Michigan / Joe Ritz, Western Michigan

Haas finished the season 25.4 PPG (1st NCAA), 9.8 RPG (20th NCAA), 8.5 APG (3rd NCAA), 3.1 SPG (T-1st NCAA)

    SOPHOMORE YEAR
Started the season 2-0 with Haas having back to back double doubles. He’d get his 3rd in a row after a 70-65 win (revenge) over Cal. He’d get his 4th in a row but WMU lost 90-83 to #3 UNC.

In a battle of the broncos rivalry (Boise State vs WMU) Haas had a career high 48 points to go with 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals.

The seventh game of the season is arguably one of the greatest (actually probably the greatest) game I ever played on any sports game ever. We were playing 6-2 USC @ their place and they started the game on a 30-3 run. However, Haas would finish with 27 points, and we’d get the 27point comeback win. I never would have given us a chance after being down 27 points.

WMU would be ranked after a 50 point performance by Haas. WMU finished 28-5 and won both the regular and tournament championships in the MAC. We’d get a 6 seed in the NCAA tourney.

    Round 1 Vs. Cornell W 85-75. Haas 21 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists.

    Round 2 Vs Gonzaga W 89-83. Haas 20 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists.

Sweet Sixteen Vs Miami (FL) W 92-82. Haas 29 points, 8 rebounds, 12 assists and 6 steals

Elite Eight Vs Vs Michigan State L 91-83. Haas 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

Player of the year: Corey Haas, WMU
MM Player of the Year; Corey Haas, WMU

Conference Player of hte Year; Corey Haas, WMU

    Haas was also a 1st Team All-American & 1st team All Conference.

    Haas: 27.9 PPG (3rd), 9.9 RPG (3rd), 6.4 APG (T-20th), 2.3 spg (T-10th).
    Shot 52% FG (383/736), shot 41% 3pt (107/259)

He finished the season with 21 Double Doubles and 5 Triple Doubles

    Junior Year

This year was Haas’ best year by far. WMU started the season winning their first 10 games. As the season progressed Haas continued to put up a double-double or triple-double in every game. (he had 6 in a row – all triple doubles.. soon followed by 8 in a row – all but 1 triple doubles, all double doubles)

To make a long story short: WMU won the MAC regular season and tourney championships with a record of 30-3 (15-1 in MAC). We’d get a 4 seed with Clark Kellogg picking us as the national champions.

    Round 1 Vs. Bucknell W 63-61. Haas 22 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists.

    Round 2 Vs. Michigan State W 81-80. Haas 22 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals

Sweet Sixteen Vs Maryland (#1 seed) W 108-88. Haas 53 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists.

Elite Eight Vs Louisville W 89-85. Haas 29 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists.

Final Four Vs NC State L 84-79. Haas 30 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists

Player of the Year: Corey Haas, Western Michigan (1st Team All-American / 1st Team All-Conference)

He also had 32 double doubles and 26 triple-doubles

    W 123-53 - 50 points, 24 rebounds, 18 assists (teammate had 46 points 10/16 3pt)
    W 104-77 - 45 points, 20 rebounds, 15 assists

    W 114-64 - 57 points, 26 rebounds, 14 assists
    W 87-75 - 40 points, 18 rebounds, 11 assists
    W 112-76 - 57 points, 19 rebounds, 12 assists
    W 97-56 - 54 points, 21 rebounds, 14 assists
    W 110-68 - 43 points, 13 rebounds, 16 assists

    W 113-84 - 60 points, 17 rebounds, 12 assists, 10 steals
    W 116-56 - 71 points, 24 rebounds, 12 assists (shoulda had 73 pts)
    W 152-108 - 75 points, 24 rebounds, 12 assists (look below for more info)
    W 99-85 - 50 points, 16 rebounds, 13 assists
    W 118-67 - 53 points, 24 rebounds, 21 assists, 10 steals (5th quad-double)

about the 152-108 game. I was so upset that I didn't get 73 points that I wanted to get it ASAP. I play 15 min. halves and in the first half I made sure i was over half way there so Haas wouldn't have to play most of the half but my game froze. I then upped the halves to 20 minutes and he actually played pretty identical (only played 3 more minutes than he averages) numbers for first half and second half. He actually shot worse the second time around and I still came close to not getting the numbers I wanted (points I would've gotten, but I wanted 24 rebs and 12 asts and almost didn't get them)

WMU is now 31-2, 16-0 in MAC play and I'm starting the conf. tourney. Haas averages: 50.7 PPG, 18.7 RPG, 16.0 APG, 5.0 SPG. After I hit 50PPG i was gonna cool down on the scoring but now it just feels odd if I don't have him scoring a lot. The main reason why his #'s are high is for record breaking reasons.

Just wanted to let you know. I still think Duke sucks and Corey Haas is overated.. Only 1 National Title shows you that winning isn't about being 1 man.. The Fab 5 won 3 National Titles in 4 years..

        Wanna take this outside Deuce?

If I had Haas 2.0 on the other WMU team from years ago I would've won at least 2. As for Haas 2.0 on this WMU team, none of my recruits pan out to be big time players as I thought they would. With the exception of my center.

If he had 4 other Fab players he would go 4 for 4 and never lose a game. Or better yet if he could clone 4 other versions of himself WMU would never lose a game.

I bet if one or two (maybe three) of those Fab 5 players don't show up, their team still has a shot. If Haas doesn't show up it's game over. He's kind of like Jimmy Clausen in that aspect. Goes into everygame knowing he has to play great to win because his team sucks. And even when he does play great he team can still lose because it isn't complete. Oh, and let's not forget they share some arrogance as you so well know

Oh yeah i forgot to mention the style I play is the LMU style (run & Shoot) from years ago. It's basically the complete opposite in my closed legacy.

            ^ glad to be here

Just finished first MAC game for us. Was up 64-21 at halftime Haas had 37 points, 18 rebounds and 7 assists. 1-3-1 zone giving them trouble and we're just a lot more taller than they are. Second half went no different and Haas tied the single game rebounding record while surpassing the single season rebounding record and coming with in 2 steals of the single season steal record. He finished with 53 points, 35 rebounds (tried very hard to get 36, i thought 35 was the record... oh this is post 1973, otherwise 51 is the record) and 14 assists.
