The Rejects aka the Stetson Hatters (CH2k7)

    Game: College Hoops 2k7 (Xbox)
    Rosters: OS Community
Sliders: combination of cpu v cpu and coached games

This is a little side project until I get my 360 back. Don't expect this to last that long, and don't expect my team to win any games.

    Stetson Reporter
Punishment Handed Down On Hatters Basketball by NCAA
    By Bobby Schultz
    Published: March 3, 2007

Before March Madness even officially began, the NCAA dropped the hammer on the Stetson Hatters basketball program. Rumors began spreading months ago about several illegal activities being conducted by members of both the coaching staff and team. While the report didn't specifically say what the illegal activities were, it specified that the rumors appeared to be true after investigation.

The punishment delivered is quite harsh. We'll let the following portion taken directly from the NCAA's official report speak for itself....

As a result of the actions taken place at Stetson University by the members of their basketball program, the NCAA has taken the following actions.

    1) All student athletes on the current roster are no longer eligible to play collegiate sports again once the current season is complete.

    2) The University will be stripped of all of it's scholarships for the next 3 seasons. Only players that agree to walk-on may be eligible to play for Stetson University. Transfers are acceptable as long as the player understands they cannot receive a scholarship.

As you can tell, our basketball team won't be making any sort of noise any time soon. My first though was that they were going to get rid of the basketball team altogether, but sources tell me that they do plan on trying to continue playing despite the inability to offer any scholarships.

Since the entire coaching staff was fired, the first order of business was finding a coach willing to be placed in a horrible situation. The only coach that was willing to take the job was Micah Grimes. That name may sound familiar to you. He was fired after the world was outraged as he let his team beat Dallas Acadamy 100-0. The troubled coach may be just what the Hatters need though, as he obviously likes to win.

Coach Grimes will have to try and compile a roster of walk-ons before the next season begins. Good luck to you sir, and we wish you the best of luck.....you're going to need it.

Talented roster you have there...should be a good challenge though. I'm expecting a win in your first game at Illinois haha.

In front of a total of 12 fans, the team was split up to play against each other at Back the Hats. Those few fans got to witness what looks to be the beginning of a very long season for the Stetson Hatters.

The white team composed of what is thought to be the starting line-up, couldn't even beat the green team or their back-ups. Tyrone Schulaces destroyed the white team, scoring 31 points. The small audience was also impressed by Mike Hawke and Willie Stroker

The Illini started off the game on a 13-0 run, before Willie Stroker finally put one in the hole for the Hatters 5 minutes into the game. The Hatters kept it respectible for a while, before Illinois decided to end the games and went on a 31-7 run to end the half ahead 48-17.

The second half consisted of the Fighting Illini bench warmers continuing to pound Stetson like a punching bag. They forced 30 turnovers, almost as many as the number of points they allowed in the game.

This looks to be a long year for the poor Stetson Hatters.

Stetson took it's first lead of the year early against the Knights of UCF. They actually held a 4 point lead, 4-0! It didn't last more than a couple minutes, but hey for this Stetson team that's like winning the lottery.

Now this is the part where you expect it to read that UCF went on a huge run and was leading by 30 at the half isn't it? Well, that didn't happen. With 5 minutes left in the half Stetson was only losing by 3 points. The teams went back and forth for a while, but the Hatters actually tied the game with a minute to go on a shot clock beating 3-pointer. Willie Stroker nailed one with 20 seconds in the half to give the Hatters the lead, 35-33 at halftime.

As expected the Knights took the lead back a short while into the second half. The half was actually very, very competitive. You could sense that the crowd was in shock considering this was supposed to be the easiest game of the year for the Knights.

A lay-up by Mike Hunt put the game at 54-53 with UCF leading just below the four minutes remaining mark. A missed bucket by the Knights gave Stetson a chance, and they took advantage by using all the clock once again and still managing a lay-up to take the lead with just 3 minutes to go. The two teams traded baskets each of their next possessions, leaving the score at 57-56 stetson with a minute and a half to go. Mike Hunt slammed one home on a great find by Mike Hawke to make the lead 3.

With just a minute to go, Stetson held a 59-56 advantage. Cartwright hit an easy duece for UCF to make it 59-58 with 50 seconds left. The Hatters waste all the time, and a 3 goes in and out with 12 seconds left. The knights bring the ball down, and Jermaine Taylor's 3 also goes in and out. Hatters win!! What? Yes the worst team in the country managed to win a game!!

Playing in front of Stetson's band and cheerleaders, the Mountaineers and Hatters went at it tonight. Appalachian St. had the advantage early and often, as Stetson didn't hold a lead after they had a 13-10 lead early in the first half.

Despite being down by as many as 14 in the second half, the Hatters did manage to come back and tie the game with around five minutes remaining. Unfortunately the Mountaineers knocked down all their shots down the stretch and eliminated the comeback chance.

Despite the loss, several of the Stetson players improved on their recent performances. Ben Dover and Harry Johnson both had career high's in points.

This one was an ugly game from start to finish, at least for the Stetson Hatters. Courtney Pigram provided 18 points in the first 10 minutes of the game, and didn't have to play at all the rest of the game except to give the bench players a breather.

East Tennessee was ahead by 28 at the half, and it didn't get any closer than 20 the entire second half. The Hatters have to find another player that can score consistantly. All they have right now is Willie Stroker, and that isn't enough.
