Game 5 - @ New Mexico Thunderbirds
Teammate Testimonials
Thoughts of Erie BayHawks small forward Harvey Thomas
Darius Legend is congratulated by Harvey Thomas after drawing a foul.
"Man, he took over the game today. D was in a zone, I'm hoping he doesn't get the call for the NBA soon, we need that scoring here to keep us winning games in Erie! But I guess, if he goes that means more chance for me to shine, so it's a bittersweet moment. That was definitely a fun performance to watch and be a part of though."
Thoughts of Erie BayHawks shooting guard George Turner
Honestly, I think he's a selfish player. Wait this is off the record, right? He's too focused on getting himself back to the NBA, I don't think he realizes we've all got that same dream. If we work together and win games, the scouts are going to take notice of who's good and who's not regardless. He doesn't have to try to dominate the whole game like that.

Rumor has it that the Milwaukee Bucks might be interested in signing Darius Legend, of the developmental league's Erie BayHawks, to a 10-day contract. The Los Angeles Clippers have also reportedly shown interest in the young small forward who was cut this summer after being drafted by the Lakers in the second round. Milwaukee general manager John Hammond would neither confirm nor deny the rumor, and Los Angeles GM Neil Olshey could not be reached for comment. More updates to come.Comment

Re: Diary of a D-Leaguer: The Story of Darius Legend
I wondered where you went following the end of the Bills season!
Nice job so far on your new project, I'll be following. Loving these box scores by the way... when the five starters combine for like 47 points and you are coming off the bench every night for 30... heh.Comment

Still following, still enjoying. I'm hopping that you don't go to Bucks they're a boring team in my opinion, I'd rather you going to Los Angeles Clippers who need a Small Forward a bit more than the bucks do!Comment

Re: Diary of a D-Leaguer: The Story of Darius Legend
Game 6 - @ New Mexico Thunderbirds
Heart of A Legend?
He strolls back up the court late in the third quarter as his teammates frantically try to overcome a deficit. Once he finally makes it down the court, he throws up an off-balance, contested shot that deflects off the rim and results in a quick change of possession.
On defense, he sags off his opponent, allowing him a window to break for the basket for an easy bucket.
These are a few of the reasons why a young Darius Legend currently finds himself buried in the NBA developmental league. Just one game prior, the 20-year old small forward effortlessly scored 40 points on 52% shooting in an all-around impressive performance. Those around him had noted how hard he's been working to lose the extra weight and improve upon his shortcomings on defense.
With one game, he may have relapsed and erased all of that hard work. Surely, some NBA team will still take a chance on him, because he's got one of the highest ceilings of any young prospect, he just needs to determine if he's got the heart and desire to reach his potential.
One of Legend's positive plays in this game involved this move to get passed Jones for 2 points
Legend blocks a shot in the second quarter
Legend makes his first 3-pointer of the season
Off-balance shots seemed to be a running theme throughout the game for Darius Legend

Bucks Take A Chance: Legend on a 10-day

After a 40 point performance in a developmental league game, Milwaukee Bucks' general manager John Hammond made the move to bring inDarius Legend on a 10-day contract, according to sources close to the situation. Legend was drafted in the second round by the Los Angeles Lakers, but was waived after the summer circuit due to weight, attitude, and effort problems.
Legend
Since then, he's managed to lose 10 pounds in a remarkably short time period and had been giving noticeably more effort in practice and games. His last game, however, showed the ugly side of Mr. Legend, as he reportedly shot poorly and displayed a lack of effort on defense and in transition. When asked whether the deal was already in place before that incident occurred, Hammond simply stated, "we're going to see how he performs for us."
One has to wonder how much playing time will be available with the SG/SF-heavy roster in Milwaukee, but Scott Skiles will surely find a way to utilize him in order to evaluate his NBA potential. Legend is slated to make his NBA debut on Monday against the Miami Heat.Comment
