Your team really seems to be on a roll and might be dangerous come March. You beat up on my old school UMES, but that's not saying much LOL. Winning the Soda Pop Classic would be nice to keep the momentum rolling and get you another trophy to take home.

Yeah we have a horribly weak conference, just one team (belmont) above the .500 mark, so March is a possibility.

          9-3 Kennesaw State- 78
          3-6 Chattanooga- 71

Kennesaw State captured another win, as they eliminated Chattanooga on their home court at the Soda Pop Classic. The game was a close battle, but one that Kennesaw never trailed in, jumping out to an early 10 point lead, only for Chattanooga to comeback and tie the ballgame up in the second half.

Late in the game, with about 48 seconds left, Chattanooga's Martin Klasky had a chance to tie the game on a putback off a missed free throw, but failed to do so. Chattanooga would hold up on defense, but turned the ball over 3 times in the final 42 seconds, which no doubt cost them the contest.

"We made some mistakes out there that let them back in this one, but our defense came up big in the clutch, and ultimatly thats what matters." Said Coach Hansen.

          Kennesaw Top Players-

Gregg Bouma- 17 points, 3 reb, 3 stl
Tasmin Schwartz- 6 points, 3 reb, 7 ast, 7 stl

This game will be a true test of whether or not this fledgling Kennesaw State team deserves to be heard. Colorado is possibly the toughest team the Owl's will face all season, and it is a pivotal game before conference play. Both team could use this win as a morale booster heading into the thick of conference games, but Kennesaw needs it to prove that it can run with teams from other conferences.

                7-2 Colorado State- 65
                10-3 Kennesaw State- 89

How did this happen? Thats the question everybody was asking Saturday night after Kennesaw State destroyed Colorado State in the Soda Pop Classic finale in front of a national audience on ESPNU.

The Owls jumped out to an early lead, but the teams were close at 32-30 with a little over 6 minutes left in the half. Kennesaw made a great 17-8 run to close out the half leading by 9. But the start of the second half is when things really got ugly, as the Owl's went on a 22-2 run to take a 29 point lead with 14 minutes left. From there the Owl's would cruise to victory, allowing just 25 second half points and scoring their highest total this season at 89.

Center Trey Ballinger could not have picked a better game to emerge from his freshman shell, scoring 20 points and tacking on a whopping 17 rebounds. Sheray Alpay added 18 points and 4 rebounds, and Gregg Bouma tacked on 16 points and 4 boards as well. Tas Schwartz had an off day however recording just 2 points and 3 assists.

With this victory Kennesaw now solidifies them as a force in the small conference ranks and the obvious favorite to win the Atlantic Sun Conference. Kennesaw State faces Belmont this week in conference play. Belmont is the only other team in the A-Sun conference with a winning record, and one of just two other teams with an undefeated conference record.

                Kennesaw Top Players-

Trey Ballinger- 20 points, 17 reb, 10/14 FGs
Sheray Alpay- 18 points, 4 reb, 8/18 FGs
Gregg Bouma- 16 points, 4 reb, 8/13 FGs

Preview- Lipscomb Bison at Kennesaw State Owls (A-Sun Conference Matchup)

                  %29.2 | Three Point Percent | %32.7
                  293 | RPI | 59

Kennesaw State now enters the Conference Schedule full force, coming off several key non conference victories. The Owl's RPI is dropping fast (a good thing) but it needs to win games like this one to prevent it from shooting back up.

It would be very unlikely for the Owl's to drop a loss here, especially playing at home. Lipscomb is one of the poorer teams in the conference, but a win for the bison puts them right back at the top in terms of conference wins.

                    11-3 (2-0) Kennesaw State- 91
                    2-10 (1-1) Lipscomb- 93

Coach Hansen has preached defense all season for this Kennesaw team, and until this game it had proved worth while. Lipscomb came into this game averaging something close to 63 points per game, Kennesaw had been averaging 69. Both offenses exploded and Kennesaw allowed 22 more points than their highest previous allowed total (71 versus Chattanooga).

"I would describe this game as a complete failure. The offense could score a thousand points, but if we let up more than 70 points, I view it as a letdown performance." said Coach Hansen after the game.

The loss for Kennesaw puts them in a four-way tie for 2nd place in the A-Sun Conference and ends a 7 game win streak, the longest for the team since 2004.

Kennesaw held a 5 point lead with 2:10 remaining, but several turnovers gave Lipscomb a 4 point lead with 32 seconds left. Raoul Trammell would knock down a three to cut it to 1 point, but would subsequently foul out in a must foul situation. Lipscomb split the free throws giving Kennesaw the ball facing a 2 point deficit with 3.4 seconds left. Deji Smalls would inbound the ball to Harvey Ewing on the right side, but Ewing was forced to take a contested three, which dipped in then popped out, drawing a massive sigh from the home crowd.

Kennesaw Managed a home crowd of over 1,000 fans for just the 6th time since 2007, and for the first time this season.

                    Kennesaw Top Players-

Raoul Trammell- 21 points, 4 reb, 5 ast, 5 fouls
Trey Ballinger- 20 points, 6 reb, 3 steals, 2 blocks
Lanny Borges- 10 points, 4 reb, 3 steals

Well amazingly, Kennesaw's RPI dropped by 16 despite a close loss to Lipscomb, but they now face one of the toughest opponents in their conference with Belmont.
Belmont has a prolific offense, and if Kennesaw plays as bad defensively as the did in their last contest, this could get ugly.

King would be a nice pick-up for you, as 3 stars are hard to come by at a small school. What's the deal on Joiner? Is he a 7 footer or something? Usually a one star will not turn out very well, unless they're very tall. Tough loss to Lipscomb, especially considering they're pretty abd. Good luck against Belmont.

There was no mistaking it, Kennesaw's defense is back. The Owl's not only played great defense, they held Conference scoring leader Darell Matthews to just 8 points. Mathews also leads the nation in rebounding with over 13 boards per game, he recorded just 6 in this game.

"We definetly had the right mix of offense and defense today. This is a huge win for us, and as a program I think we are just proving everybody wrong about us." Said Coach Noah Hansen.

The Owl's got off to a shaky start offensively, but thanks to their defense, Kennesaw neevr trailed in this contest, and held a comfortable lead through most of the second half. The use of Gregg Bouma and Trey Ballinger to double team Matthews caused turnovers and gameplan issues for Belmont, and they never quite adjusted to not being able to score on the inside. Small Forward E.F. Souchu lead Belmont in scoring with 15 points.
