EMOTIONAL AGGIES WIN ONE FOR THE SENIORS

Hello Aggie fans thanks for tuning into 103.8 KUCD for the game between your UC Davis Aggies and the Cal Poly Mustangs. In just a couple minutes the coach and player of the game will be here as they are wrapping up the senior day ceremonies. The players came into this one wanting to win this one for the team and they did so winning 79-64.

And here is one of the seniors Joe Harden, our player of the game.

RB: Joe, what does it feel like knowing that was your last game in The Pavilion?

JH: Honestly Ryan it hurts. It was a great ride here. As everyone probably knows I came here as a transfer from Notre Dame and let me tell you, these last four years have been great. Playing here has been an amazing ride.

RB: Well you definitely ended your career here with style. Did you come into this game with the mindset to player a little harder today?

JH: I guess you could say that. I really wanted to win this one for my fellow seniors and for the fans especially. The Aggie Pack has been great to me ever since I arrived here.

RB: Thanks Joe for all the great memories and good luck in the final stretch of the season. Now I am here with the coach! Coach Scott, what will you remember most about these seniors specifically?

LS: There hard work and personalities. These guys are great leaders and mean a lot to this team. They come into practice every day and just work their tails off and everyone else notices it. I love these guys and hopefully we can finish the season in a way they will never forget.

RB: How do you feel like you are playing with the conference tournament looming?

LS: I feel like we are playing great basketball and I really hope we can keep it up. We will just have to grind especially since we will be on the road travelling so much. It will definitely be fun.

RB: Thanks coach Scott! Well there you have it Aggie fans. It was a very fun game tonight. Now meet us here at 103.8 KUCD next thursday as the Aggies will face of against the Pacific Tigers!

LOWENTHAL GETS CAREER HIGH AGAINST TIGERS

Hey Aggie fans this is Ryan Burns on 103.8 KUCD and thank you for listening to tonight's game between your Aggies vs. Pacific. This was another tight game between these two opponents and once again the UC Davis Aggies came out on top. They were lead by their backcourt of Mark Payne and Todd Lowenthal who combined for 36 points. UC Davis, who had an 8 points halftime lead, won the game 74-63.

RB: Now I am here with the player of the game, senior Todd Lowenthal! Todd, you were just on fire out there tonight, what got into you?

TL: Well I was just more aggresive tonight. I attacked the basket and got some good lucks at the hoop.

RB: How do you think you guys are playing heading into the end of the conference?

TL: I feel really good about us. We are definitely peaking at the right time and hope to finish strong going into the conference tournament.

RB: Thanks Todd and great job on the win. Now coach Lathen Scott joins us. Coach, you got tremendous play out of the backcourt today. Was that the difference maker?

LS: I think so Ryan. Although Todd played great tonight, I do not think we would have won if [Mark] Payne did not have the game he did. He struggled a little on the defensive end but he played great at the point with his 8 assists.

RB: With the tournament being so close, what is the one thing you guys need to improve on?

LS: We really need to step up against the other team's key scorer. The past few games we let the other team's star player score. Tonight it was Terrell Smith who had 17 points. We need our best defenders to step up.

RB: Thank you coach and congrats on the win. Well there you have it Aggie fans! Tune into 103.8 KUCD same time next week as your Aggies will face off against the UC Irvine Anteaters! Have a great week everyone!

        AGGIES > ANTEATERS

And we are back, I am Ryan Burns, and you are listening to the postgame of the Aggies game on 103.8 KUCD. UC Davis had a hard fought match today against UC Irvine. UC Davis went into the half down 2 and came out in the second half on a mission winning the game 66-57 led by [Mark] Payne. Everyone played a role in this game and this win was a total team effort.

And here comes the player of the game Mark Payne.

RB: Today was the first game in 7 games that you did not have the lead at the half. What did coach say at half to get you guys playing strong in the second half?

MP: He basically told us it was all down to execution offensivelly. We were playing good D but we just were not doing what needed to be done on the offensive end.

RB: The man you were guarding most of the night, [Patrick] Rembert had 6 turnovers. What did you do to make him ineffective?

MP: I don't know if I did anything different really, but coach did want us to play harder on the defensive end. I just wanted to prove to coach that I could play better on the defensive side of the ball.

RB: Thank you Mark. Now with me is the head coach of the Aggies, Lathen Scott. Lathen, you guys did not get a lot done on the offensive end, what was different today?

LS: Well I feel like we settled for too many shots. [Eddie] Miller shot it 17 times, 9 times from and just couldn't hit. We shot 27 times behind the arc and that is just too much. Period.

RB: You guys have just one more game before the conference tournament. You guys have the #1 seed locked up, what is the gameplan going into the game?

LS: Well in a perfect world I'd love to jump on UC Riverside early and get my starters out of there but I highly doubt I will get that good fortune.

RB: Good game tonight Coach. OK Aggie Fans meet us here saturday on 103.8 KUCD as they play against future #2 seed UC Riverside.

THE PAUCHOS FIGHT AGGIES ALL 40 MINUTES

Hello Aggie fans thanks for tuning into 103.8 KUCD. I am your commentator Ryan Burns. Well if you are just tuning in, you just missed a very exciting basketball game. At halftime both teams were locked up at 36. The second half brought more of the same. Both teams fought back and forth, never letting the lead amount to much. But at the end of the day your Aggies prevailed, 78-74.

Now I am here with the player of the game, Todd Lowenthal

RB: Todd, you were hitting basically everything you threw up. What was the strategy coming into today?

TL: Well I just tried to be aggressive and pick up for Payne when he got in foul trouble.

RB: Now you are in a situation where you play either Cal State Fullerton or UC Irvine, both whom will be a tough challenge. What will you try to do to win tomorrow?

TL: For me personally, I will just go out and do my thing. I will just do whatever the team needs for me to do.

RB: Thanks Todd for your time. Now I am standing here with the coach. Coach, how does it feel to get your first every conference tournament win?

LS: Oh man it feels great. I am just really proud of my guys and I am hoping to win many more.

RB: What will it take for you guys to come in and win tomorrow?

LS: We will just have to come prepared. We were not totally focused today and it almost cost us. We will just have to be ready to play a full 40.

RB: Well there you have it Aggie fans. UC Davis will play against the winner of CS Fullerton and UC Irvine tomorrow. You can catch the game on your local channel or meet me here at 103.8 KUCD. Have a good day everyone!

Welcome to the postgame on 103.8 KUCD. This is Ryan Burns and I can proudly say, We are one game away from the tournament! Your Aggies were able to fight off a scrappy bunch of CS Fullerton Titans and win the game 72-61.

Now I am here with the head coach, Lathen Scott.

RB: Coach, you are one game away from winning the title. What are you going to tell your players?

LS: I will just make sure that they know that they have to stay calm at all times and just give it their all. If they do that and execute, we will be able to win.

RB: Lathen, what has been the key to your success all year?

LS: I would have to say it is the fact that the guys have bought into what I have been telling them. We all believe we can do something special and everyone has the heart to want to do it.

RB: Thanks coach and good luck tomorrow! Well Aggie fans you will get to see your team on national TV tomorrow on ESPN2 as they will play the winner against CS Northridge and Pacific. You can also catch the game here on 103.8 KUCD.

NOTE: After I played this game and the championship, the xbox froze on me so I had to go back and sim to make the same results happen so that is why I did not have much in this post. I won't have much in the next post either. Sorry for the inconvience.

AND THE BIG WEST CHAMPIONS ARE...

Well Aggie fans as you saw on national TV, CS Northridge was for real. They came out early and just never let go. The #6 seed Matadors had a 4 point lead at halftime and pushed it to a 13 point game to beat the top seed Aggies 57-44.

Now I am here with the coach, Lathen Scott.

RB: So how are the guys feeling coach?

LS: They are pretty upset as am I. We feel like we let this one slip away.

RB: So what is the plan now coach?

LS: Well we are still not considered to be a bubble team so I guess we will just hope and pray for a NIT bid and try and make some noise there.

RB: Congrats on the season coach. Well Aggie fans watch for selection sunday and see what will happen for your Aggies. This is Ryan Burns from 103.8 KUCD bidding you all good night.

                              SELECTION SUNDAY

RD: Hello college hoops fanatics, this is Rece Davis with Hubert Davis and Jay Bilas and this is Selection Sunday! Hubert, what do you expect from the comittee when it comes to mid-major teams?

HD: I expect a good showing out of the quote unquote non-power conferences. The horizon league had a very good year as well did the C-USA. The WAC and WCC were also very strong this year.

RD: Jay, who are you thinking will enter the tournament as a #1 seed?

JB: Well I will have to go with UNC, WVU, UCLA, and Florida State. I think they had the most consistent seasons out of anyone. Like I have said on numerous occasions I do not believe there is a great team out there this year and anyone can beat anyone this year.

RD: Alright it has come to the part of the show where we show the bubble teams:

                              Arkansas Razorbacks
                              Kentucky Wildcats
                              Loyola Marymount
                              Georgia Bulldogs
                              South Florida
                              Oregon State
                              VCU Rams
                              Marquette Golden Eagles
                              Richmond Spiders
                              Iowa Hawkeyes

RD: Now we will turn it over to Dick Vitale. Dick, what do you make of these bubble teams?

DV: Well I believe that Georgia deserves a shot! They have great players in Travis Leslie and Trey Thompkins! Leslie, he can just go up up and away!! Also, look out for Marquette. Buzz Williams is the kind of coach who will have his team playing anyone. They will fight and scratch and claw until they just can't fight anymore!

JB: I don't think any of these teams could make it if the NCAA was nearly as competitive as it could be. I just don't see it. Maybe I am wrong but this is just the weakest bunch of teams I have seen ever. I mean Florida State is good but really? 6th in the country? Not if the field was as competitive as normal.

RD: Well the brackets are out. Lets check it out.

                              #14 UMBC

                              #7 Indiana
                              #10 Arkansas

                              #2 Florida State

RD: Alright guys what do you make of this year's job by the selection committee?

JB: Are you kidding me? Usually I give credit to the committee because this is not an easy thing to do but this year, I do not agree with them at all. Kansas, who is ranked #6 in the country, ends up as a #3 seed while Vanderbilt who is ranked #7 gets a #1 seed? And what about Marquette and South Florida? They both had 20 win seasons but instead Richmond and UC Davis get in! UC Davis wasn't even talked about on the bubble! And not only do they get in the tournament, they get a #9 seed! We can talk about the eye test, this doesn't even pass the laugh test!

HS: I have to agree with you Jay. If the committee wants to back themselves up with the RPI and say UC Davis is 41st, well USF is 40th. I just don't understand this pick at all.

RD: Dick, what do you have to say about this year's brackets?

DV: Oh it's just horrible! I just feel terrible for the seniors who got robbed of their chance at the tournament like Jimmy Butler from Marquette! Oh my heart just goes out to them! It's just horrible! My wife who doesn't know jack about basketball could tell you which team deserves this more when you look at the resumes of UC Davis, Richmond, USF, and Marquette!

RD: Well despite what we think and what the committee thinks, the brackets are made and now we will just have to see what happens.
