Sorry my bad. It was tight 56-54 Iona.

Iona had the lead 30-23 at the half, but Dayton battled back in the 2nd half to make a game of it. What killed Dayton was their SO PG J. Staten (Avg 14.5 PPG) scored just 5 pts and was 1/18 FG and 1/11 3pt.

Tough loss to end the year. And just like the real ncaa tournament, my picks just stunk.

oh well, better luck next season for me to make my picks.

            THE FINISH

The Road to the Final 4 is over only 2 teams remain in the NCAA Tourney and 2 teams in the NIT Tourney. Someone will be named Champions, and cut down the net and take home the hardware.

We have 2 exciting stories this year. #1 Duke finished last season with just 14 wins but recruited the #1 Class in the nation to come alongside RS FR K. Irving and JR S. Curry to win 30 games and make it back to were they belong. #3 Memphis however is no stranger to Final 4's having played in 3 most noteably in 2008 where they were the runner ups to Kansas.

            NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

            #1 (30-6) VS #3 (26-5)

The 1st half was a Offensive showcase as both teams combined to score 105 points (Duke-55 Memphis-50). In the 2nd half the Dukie's D would show up holding the Tigers to just 31 pts as Duke pulled away for the victory to take home the National Title.

            FINAL SCORE DUKE-96 MEMPHIS-81

            K. Irving-15 pts 7 reb 9 asst 2/6 3pt
            S. Curry-19 pts 4/7 3pt
            FR H. Crenshaw-16 pts 5 reb 5 asst 3/5 3pt
            FR K. Holcomb-13 pts 2/3 3pt

            W. Barton-22 pts 2/5 3pt
            W. Witherspoon-13 pts 8 reb 1/4 3pt
            J. Jackson-12 pts 5 asst 1/2 3pt

Again we are greeted with 2 great stories. UCLA finished a disappointing 7th in the Pac-10 (8-10) and just 16-15, but now 4 wins later the Bruins are back to win #20 and are looking to add some hardware to their Trophey case, even if it is just a NIT Championship. Bucknell is making a repeat trip to the NIT Championship game having won last year over the Missouri Tigers. The Bison finished 1st in the Patriot league going 12-2 only to lose to Army in the Conference Tourney and even with a 22-9 record, Bucknell's #91 RPI sent them packing to the NIT once again.

            NIT CHAMPIONSHIP

            (20-15) VS (26-9)

Bucknell came into the game Avg 74.4 PPG but managed to score just 19 points in the 1st half as they trailed 37-19 at the half and where never able to recover as they hit just 3/15 from 3pt as UCLA celebrated by cutting down the net after their 69-44 victory. T. Honeycutt had 16 pts to lead the Bruins, SR PG L Jones added 15 pts and JR R. Nelson had 10 pts 5 reb as well.

Congrats on Matt314hew and Gloves for picking Duke as the National Champs. Several of you picked Arizona to win the NIT. Guess you just picked the wrong Pac-10 team.

Thanks again to those who filled out brackets. I look forward to getting more guy's involved next year.

I am not going to doubt that you will help Nebraska become elite. You are part of the #14 Recruiting class in the nation and 3 of the other FR join you in the starting lineup next year. So I have a feeling by your JR and SR year you guy's are going to be a Top-25 program.

I put Nebraska on my schedule next year.

Yeah. Just like my real life bracket. I had Kansas,UNC,UConn all with possible Final 4 bids and was leading the Office Pool. Now with Kansas and UNC out, I am toast. I am cheering for VCU now...

Thanks again for taking the time to fill out both brackets.

Going into the year, Coach Derozan had 3 scholarships to offer. His 2 main priorities where to land a PG to replace SR T. Nicholas and focus on 6'9 Kyle Thomas (TheKT) the Mr BB from Idaho as well as 6'8 SF AJ Akpan (Me) the son of the late Boise State player Andy Akpan (Former legacy star).

Well Coach D struck out on 2 out of 3 as 4* 5'11 PG R. O'Sullivan (Mr BB MT) signed with WSU instead and then 6'9 PF Kyle Thomas picked BYU over the Broncos. Instead of offering scholarships last minute to players who hadn't signed Coach D instead just went with the signing of Akpan who should be a instant star.

Coach Derozan comments "AJ like his father, has the ablility to play pretty much anywhere on the court. He might not be the best defender and still needs to work on his low post moves, but overall he should be our best player next season. I expect him to continue our tradition of having the WAC Freshman of the Year (S. Hicks won in 2011, and M. Mbaye in 2012), as well as challenge for the National FOY"
