Re: A New Journey (Closed Legacy 2K8)

Thanks to all the comments and those following along.. Good news is we are moved and have internet access. Bad news is it is not fast enough for me to play online games such as Black Ops, College Football Online Dynasty, ect..

So that means more time spent playing College Hoops and probably a new College football dynasty once 2012 is out.

So look for updates to start coming soon.

I am pretty excited about year 3 with the Hornets. I got a very young team, (all players I have now recruited) and am looking forward to posting my results. Because I have already simmed the season, the results will be in the same format I have been using. However starting in Season 4, I am looking to going back to more of a game by game posting or at least maybe a weekly posting.

      2012-2013 PREVIEW

      TEAM ROSTER

SO PG 5'11 Paco Beye (64 Overall)
"Named Big Sky All-Freshman" Avg 6.0 PPG 1.2 RPG 4.2 APG starting 33/33 games playes"

Coach Young comments-"Beye was a solid PG but lack of 3pt shooting could force him to the bench"

      FR PG/SG 6'2 Reyshawn DaSilva (66 Overall/80 3pt)
      "3* prospect rated #390 Overall/#110 SG"

Coach Young comments-"DaSilva is the team's best 3pt shooter and could force his way into the starting PG spot, only because his lack of size doesn't make him a protypical SG"

      SO SG 6'3 Ike Newby (75 Overall/75 3pt)
      "4* JC Transfer"

Coach Young comments-"Will battle for the starting SG spot, if he doesn't win, will back up both the PG/SG and play almost starter type mins off the bench. He is our 2nd best 3pt shooter"

      SO SG 6'4 Calvin Hipsher (68 Overall/72 3pt)
      "Started 22/22 games as a freshman Avg 4.0 PPG 2.1 RPG 1.8 APG hitting 14/43 3pt (32%)"

Coach Young comments-"Will probably lose his starting job to Newby and could lose minutes to Beye as well."

      FR SG 6'5 Pearson Batte (68 Overall/69 3pt)
      "3* Rated 292 Overall/#70 SG"

Coach Young comments-"Might Redshirt, if not will back up both the SG and SF spots"

SO SF 6'5 Claude Brewington (76 Overall)
"Named Big Sky All-Freshman team. Started 33/33 games last season, Avg 5.2 PPG 5.2 RPG 1.4 SPG"

Coach Young comments-"Doesn't have the 3pt shot that I like from my SF. Will be pushed by 4* JC transfer E. Copperwood for the starting job"

SO SF 6'6 Elijah Copperwood (77 Overall)
"A 4* JC Transfer, and our best Overall player"

Coach Young comments-"Like Brewington he lacks the 3pt shot I like from my SF (68 3pt rating). But he is our best player and does have a (78) mid range and a (84) Defense rating, so chances are he will be in the starting lineup.

SO PF 6'9 Justin Legans (69 Overall)
"Big Sky FOY, starting 16/33 games played. He Avg 9.3 PPG 4.1 RPG 1.3 SPG 1.6 BPG"

Coach Young comments-"Legans surprised even me. He played great once he worked his way into the starting lineup and should keep his starting role and look to build off of solid #'s"

      SO C 6'10 Felton Burke (69 Overall)
      "3* JC Transfer"

Coach Young comments-"Will battle fellow Freshman C. Freeman for the starting spot in the middle, with the loser taking a major role off the bench as the 6th man backing up Legans at PF as well"

      FR C 6'10 Cesar Freeman (70 Overall)
      "3* Recruit, Rated #446 Overall/40 C)

Coach Young comments-"See comments on Burke"

"Final comments on the roster. With only 10 players on the roster, all 10 will get minutes as we try and figure out who will start and who will backup. Our lack of bigman will be a focus the coming year, but with a roster full of FR/SO we will have only 2 scholarships to give out."

        2012-2013 HORNETS SCHEDULE

        Non Conference

        @ CS Fullerton
        @ UC Riverside
        @ Pepperdine
        @ Fresno State
        @ San Jose State
        vs UC Davis (Rivarly Game)
        @ USC
        @ #7 San Diego State

Coach Young comments "Obviously what sticks out here is the lack of home games. We only play 1 of our 1st 9 games at home. Because we are a very young team (only 4 returning players and all are Soph's with 6 incoming FR/JC Trans). I want our team to know what it's like to be expected to win in a hostile enviroment. We are building off a NIT Appearence, and this year I see no reason why we can't challenge for the Big Sky yet again and make a appearence in the Big Dance"

Coach Young comments on the games

"I feel like the team is playing well. Our Big 3 (Legans/Freeman/Burke) have all played great and carried the team so far, well other guys have picked a game or 2 to step up. DaSilva has secured the starting PG spot with Newby starting at SG and Copperwood at SF, with Legans and Freeman rounding out the starting rotation. Burke has become our 6th man and gets a few more minutes only because he backs up both PF/C. The other 4 guys are splitting the backup mins pretty equal among the other 3 spots. Right now I just hope I can keep everyone happy with their PT."

COACH YOUNG TARGETS 2 RECRUITS EARLY

Going into the season Coach Young had 2 scholarships to offer. After several phone calls, alot of game tape and even a couple of campus visits, Coach Young picked 2 players he felt would be great fits for the Hornets nest. Well neither player committed during the early signing period both players are close to 100% and have not other current offers.
          4* PG 6'0 Devon Meyer-Santa Clara CA
          (Rated #62 Overall/#19 PG)
          ABL Stats-7.9 PPG 2.6 RPG 4.8 APG 2.1 SPG
Coach Young comments-"Even though Meyer's ABL stats are not eye popping. The fact that both Kansas and Arkansas are currently #2 and #3 on his target list shows me this kid has talent. A true PG he should be a great fit for our team and allow us to play DaSilva at the SG spot when on the court at the same time"

          4* PF 6'7 Leslie Bates-Fresno CA
          (Rated #88 Overall/#16 PF)
          ABL Stats-11.1 PPG 7.9 RPG 1.5 BPG

Coach Young comments-"Bates reminds me alot of current Hornet and last years Big Sky FOY J. Legans. I think he will be a great fit for our team and give us a solid backup at the #4 spot behind Legans for the next 2 years and a solid starter as a JR and SR."

HORNETS DROP 2 IN A ROW

After a hot start that saw Coach Young and his team win their first 6 games, the Hornets were stung with back to back loses to USC (98-68) and San Diego State (92-61).

Coach Young "We played horrible on both sides of the ball. We anytime you give up 90+ to your opponent shows you were not playing good defense and that's going to affect what you can do on offense as well."

(One bright side was FR PG R. DaSilva who scored 19 pts and hit 5/5 3pt in the loss to USC, and SO F. Burke had a double double with 13 pts 11 reb in the loss to the SDSU)

            HORENTS WIN THE BIG SKY!!!!

After starting out 6-2 in Non-Conference play Sacremento State went 12-4 in Big Sky play to tie for the Regular Season Title (Weber State and Montana both finished 12-4 as well) but the Horents will enter the tourney with the #1 seed (do to tie breakers I guess)

CSUS will play the winner of the Idaho State vs EWU game. On the other side of the bracket its Montana St vs Weber State with the winner facing Montana.

HORNETS TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS, WIN THE BIG SKY!!

In just his 3rd year at the helm, Coach Young has guided the Hornets to a Big Sky Championship with wins over EWU (73-69) and a (88-75) win over Montana to earn a trip to the NCAA tourney!!!

(With the wins CSUS finishes 20-6 going into the tourney. This marks the 2nd straight year Coach Young has guided the Horents to post season play and had 20 win seasons)

The wins didn't go without cost though. Freshman C. Freeman who has started all 26 games this season and is the teams leading scorer (15.2 PPG) was lost the rest of the season with a broken foot.

(SO F. Burke (9.6 PPG 5.7 RPG 1.2 BPG) will take Freeman's spot in the starting lineup)

HORNETS GET #12 SEED WILL FACE WISCONSIN

After a 22 win season and spot in the NIT tourney last year, Coach Young had high hopes for this young team this year. So far the road has been smooth for the Hornets as they picked up 20 wins yet again and earned a psot in the East Regional aginst #5 Wisconsin.

The Badgers went 23-10 Overall and 11-7 (4th place) in the Big Ten under Coach Ryan. The Badgers are led by a Trio of Soph's (SG H. Marsh-87, PF K. Dilligard-85 and C E. Anderson-74)

HORNETS MAKE HISTORY WITH UPSET WIN!!!

                ROUND 1

                #12 VS #5

Coach Young and the Hornets make school history as they win their 1st ever NCAA appearence. CSUS took a commanding 42-28 lead shocking the nation and the Badgers in the 1st half.

Wisconsin would battle back in the 2nd half and tie the game with less then a minute to play, but Soph Felton Burke starting his 1st game this season would score 6 of his team high 20 pts in the final minute as the Hornets pulled off the upset.

The Vikings took a 42-41 lead at the end of the 1st half, but a balanced offensive attack which saw 4 players score in double digits kept the Hornets in the game. Soph SG I. Newby came up huge hitting his 3rd 3pt of the night to give CSUS the 1pt lead with 4.2 seconds to play. SR Josh McCoy missed the buzzer beater for the win.

HORNETS GET STUNG, DREAM IS OVER

                    SWEET SIXTEEN

                    #12 VS #8

Their season is over. The Hornets have been stingers run out. No more Sweet Honey.... (Those were the headlines on several local papers today, but Coach Young still had a smile on his face...

The Hornets did something nobody thought was possible. They won 2 games in the NCAA tourney and went to the Sweet-16.

Many thought that Sac State was going to do it upsetting the Tigers after their emotional upset win over #1 Indiana. CSUS took a 34-25 lead into the locker room giving Hornet fans hope.

However the Tigers dominated the 2nd half outscoring CSUS 41-29 to win the game.

                    FINAL SCORE CSUS-63 LSU-66

                    KEY PLAYERS
                    R. DaSilva-12 pts 5 reb 2 asst 3/8 3pt
                    J. Legans-11 pts 4 reb
                    F. Burke-12 pts

Coach Young-"Yes I am disappointed we couldn't pull it out, but I am also very proud of these guy's at the same time. We made it to the Sweet 16. We won 22 games back to back seasons and we don't lose anyone off the roster this year and I think have a good shot at landing 2 more pieces to the puzzle that will make this a very dangerous team next season."

After failing to take Gonzaga that next step and play for a National Title. Coach Few does it in his 1st year at the helm for the Huskies and with a roster loaded with Juniors (6) and Sophs (4). Many don't believe this will be a 1 year fluke.

I really like your game format.I think its more interesting when you put the results of up to 7 or 8 gms in one post.It makes me wanna read it more then the one game per post how some do it.That ways ok but you can really get deep into a dynasty the way you do it.I enjoy readin the big games in one full post but the smaller gms are def best suited how you do it.Really a great read cant wait for an update

Thanks for following. This is a new format for me. I typically use to be the guy that posted every game, did interviews with the coach, tried and gave the reader alot of background depth on my team and teams around the nation and tried and get fellow board members involved by creating recruits and giving info on their players as well, but life got busy and I had to cut back on my playing and posting.

So I created a new closed legacy and started playing it. I wasn't orginally going to post it, but it just didn't feel the same when I did something great or cool in my legacy unless I was telling someone about it. I think posting my dynasties or coaching legacies has really given me a totally different enjoyment then I use to get just playing the game.

I am glad you like my new format. I like it because I can typically take a day or 2 and post the entire results of the season, which I like because with Sac State I typically only play the big games and tourneys, simming the Big Sky games. So I can get through a season in about a week to 2 weeks. Once I get to a bigger school I will probably play more games, and might switch up my posting to doing either a weekly recap or maybe a monthly recap.

Yeah. This one is sorta flying under the radar. I am not getting a ton of comments but it seems to be getting some views, and I am enjoying posting about my career with the Hornets so far.

This past year was a great success making the Sweet-16. I am actually already done with next season and let me tell you it was alot of fun as well. I am doing well getting my attribute points, so I have a feeling we are going to see Coach Young move up the Coaching ladder soon.

Glad to see you are still active on the boards and working toward becoming OS "Top poster"

Yeah, lol, I might need to post more. I stopped visiting for a while because the dynasty section wasn't active. So I got bored and checked and saw it a little more active. I bet it will be more active than ever soon as NCAA 12 is about to come out. Will we be seeing a "classic" Deuce football dynasty?
