Well the backstory i used to start off with kind of gives an insight. Famous players sons interest me, and seeing what sort of a career they would have. Ewing Sr was one of my fave players, so i really wanted to see his son succeed too. I thought it would be more interesting storywise than picking any other random player that is on the outskirts of NBA rosters. I have been meaning to do this story since last year when he failed to make it to the NBA.

Ewing Jr. took some ill-advised shots tonight, but still came away with another double-double.

Ewing’s Epilogue
“Good performance from the guys tonight. But i dont think i played particularly well. A double-double but 4-15 from the field just aint good enough. The Bayhawks defense frustrated me all night, and i ended up just crashing the glass hard.”
" Gelabale was great again tonight with 24 pts He really is the go to guy when the game is on the line. Allan Ray returned tonight and played 30 minutes. His game was rusty and only scored 3 points. His return does make us much better, and Alex Acker also has the experience of starting in his absence. Pete Morrison had a great game of the bench. In 16 minutes he scored 14 points and had 5 rebounds. Great showing from the rookie.
"Ben Hansbrough has moved from back-up point guard to starting shooting guard. And man can he flat out shoot. 18 points on 7-10 shooting. Great play that kept Erie right in till late. Zubcic had 15 points and 4 assists, and again in a 6th man role he was vital. I wonder if the Bayhawks will consider starting him over Alonzo Gee. I really think it would add a lot to their starting group. Jeremy Lin was also great off the bench, scoring 7 pts, grabbing 8 boards and dishing out 5 dimes."
"No major news in the D-League this week, apart from the fact that we are flat out beastin every night we step on the floor. 16-3 and sitting pretty at the top."Last edited by RMJH4; 12-03-2021, 02:58 PM.Comment

One of the nasty dunks Ewing Jr. had tonight. Look out below Patrick Mills.

Ewing’s Epilogue
“What a team. They were stacked 6 deep in the post. So difficult to break down. I shot 5-10 and i was very pleased with that. First they had Songaila and Etan Thomas. Then they threw Joe Smith and Jamaal Magloire at us. And to top it all off, Shavlik Randolph and Francisco Elson strolled on for a few minutes. They were relentless on defense and we struggled big time. ”
" But even with all that we defended pretty well ourselves. Eddy Curry worked well with me, scoring 9 points and getting 9 boards. Big Pete Mo had 9 points and 5 rebounds too. Marcus Landry got some burn too, grabbing 4 boards. We tried to fight fire with fire in the post, but we were mismatched against so many 7 footers. You cant teach height. Or so the saying goes. Aside from that Patrick Mills showed he can run a team, and score in bucket loads. He had 23 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Then Jawad Williams chipped in with 11 points. But almost all their baskets were made by the post players."
"I seen scouts from the Magic and the Hornets here tonight, along with Suns and Kings scouts. The Magic guys were having a little chat with Demetris Nichols and Mickael Gelabale. The Hornets guys had a chat with Jawad Williams and Etan Thomas. And guess who the Suns and Kings wanted to talk to? Yes yours truly. They said that my performances have been tracked over the last few weeks. Very impressive numbers they said. At the moment the Suns are down Marcin Gortat with a broken back and Hakim Warrick seems to be all over the trade rumors. The Kings have very little frontcourt depth. DeMarcus Cousins is carrying the load, with Jason Thompson struggling to find form."
"So both teams are interested and will continue to monitor my progress. But the kicker is, The Suns are bottom in the West, and the Kings are 3rd last. But hey, it might just allow me to get some playing time. Watch this space. "Last edited by RMJH4; 12-03-2021, 02:58 PM.Comment

Just caught up on everything. It is solid. I like reading your little quotes by Ewing Jr. At this point, everything works well together. I don't think you should change anything at this point. Looking forward to seeing Ewing Jr. in an NBA jersey.Comment

Ewing’s Epilogue
“Boy what a win tonight. We struggled to keep up with Reno until the 2nd Half. Allan Ray really caught fire with 15 points. Other big performances for us from Eddy Curry (14) and Patrick Beverly with 13 pts and 14 assists. I really got the pick and roll going with Patrick tonight, and a big reason he racked up so many assists. Had a half dozen dunks of alley-oops and great lobs from him. Gelabale had an off game tonight, but Julius Hodge and Demetris Nichols really stepped up with 9 and 11 respectively.”
" As expected Gary Forbes and Larry Owens were the main threats for Reno. Forbes had 20 with some highlight dunks on the breaks. Owens is a good shooter adn with 17 points kept us stretched all over the floor. 2 high scoring wing men for the Bighorns that have torched teams all year long. I managed to keep Pendergraph quiet tonight, 7 points and 8 rebounds. A tough match up which i was happy to come out on top off. David Andersen was also worked over by Eddy Curry. He finished with 4 points and 7 boards only.
"I think we removed all doubt that we are the main team in the D-League this year. A good road win over the 2nd place team cements that. 18-4 and 3 games clear in the East over the Iowa Energy."
"I was talking to Dad after the game tonight. From what he hears there are a couple of teams interested in signing me up very soon. He said the Magic have even been keeping tabs on me lately. GM's have noticed the fact i've become a double-double machine this season. But what seems to have impressed them even more is my 2.9 assists per game. I'm leading the way for forwards in that category. Dad just said to keep my phone by my side, and he'll let me know if anything else comes up. Sounds promising but until i hear anymore from the teams, i'll just keep my feet on the ground."Last edited by RMJH4; 12-03-2021, 02:58 PM.Comment

“Blowout win tonight against the Bayhawks. Nichols who earned the start tonight, really led the way for us. 20 pts and 5 rebs. But major improvement from Eddy Curry tonight too. 14 pts and 10 rebs. Double- Double and he was also excellent on defense. i grabbed a double-double too, 11 and 11, with 4 assists and 2 blocks. Shot only 3-11 from the field though which concerns me. I hope the scouts weren't watching tonight. ”
" Ben Hansbrough was great again. He is really suiting the 2 spot and dropped 17 tonight. Zubcic finally got a start for Erie, and had 16 pts and 6 rebounds. But only 1 assist. Erie really came out flat. One of the lowest points we have conceded all season. But our defense had a big part to play in that too. A disappointing result for them as they lose ground on the 3rd placed Armor in the East."
"Very quiet tonight in the Arena from a scouting perspective. But i'm not really surprised. Its all about next Wednesday and Thursday. The D- League showcase is on, and i fully expect all 30 teams from the NBA to have scouts there. Some GM's also make appearences too. For me and a lot of other guys, its one of the best opportunities to showcase our talents all season. Lets hope all the rumors and hard work come to fruition and i get to have some meeting with NBA execs. Roll on South Padre Island!"Last edited by RMJH4; 12-03-2021, 02:58 PM.Comment

Ewing’s Epilogue
“Tough loss tonight against the Vipers. They had some big guns and some big tough post players. Patrick Patterson is a beast. 17 points and 17 rebounds. And with Luis Scola out injured for the Rockets, I can see him getting a call up. I battled hard against him, and came away with a respectable 19 points and 13 boards. I tried to showcase my all around game tonight for the scouts. But for once not many of the guys stepped up with me.”
" Gelabale had 24. Starting to hit form again after 2 poor games. A guy who scores like Mickael certainly deserves a spot on an NBA roster. Walter Herrmann was a tough matchup for him, and Herrman scored 16 points. Mike James showed all of his experience off tonight. 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. An NBA team who needs a backup cant look much further than Mike. Stromile Swift, Malik Allen and Jonathan Bender were another 3 guys who made it tough in the post. Swift had 12, Allen 9 and Bender 11.
"Usually what will happen after tomorrows early game is players will have meetings with NBA scouts etc. I can see quite a few players in this game who will draw such interest. I wonder if any of the reported teams will want to talk to me. I keep checking nba.com to see injury reports, trade rumors etc every day! Hoping my name will pop up somewhere. Prosportsdaily.com has 4 teams potentially interested in signing me this weekend."
"The Kings, Bucks, Bobcats and Warriors. Time will tell if these are true or not. But in the past i've found quite a few of their rumors really had legs. The Kings are currently 2nd last in the West. Bucks are 9th in the East, a half game behind the Pacers. The Bobcats are in 7th place, a half game behind Dad's Orlando Magic. The Warriors are in 6th in the West, a game behind the Spurs. Obviously i'd like to go to a playoff team, but preferably one that i could crack the rotation. It's a toss-up between the Bobcats and Bucks then so!"Last edited by RMJH4; 12-03-2021, 02:59 PM.Comment

Ewing’s Epilogue
“Man another loss. Another blowout. First time we have lost 2 games in a row all season. Vipers are very stong all over the floor. We scored more tonight, but gave up over 100. Which is very disappointing. They made almost all their shots in the first quarter and 2nd. 67 points at half time to our 43. Patrick Patterson showed his NBA caliber game off once again, scoring 24 points from all over the floor. I struggled to keep up with him, but i feel i done well to keep him under 30. He shot 11-17 from the field!”
" Mike James outplayed Beverly again, this time dropping 19. Devin Brown had 16, Jonathan Bender 13, Swift 13 pts and 11 boards. Walter Herrmann also had double figures with 13 points and 7 boards."
"Our only players to ball tonight were Demetris Nichols with 23, Baby Shaq with 16 and 8 boards and myself. I think i played quite well. Boxed out and kept my run of double-double's going. A few assists to Gelabale as usual, but he only had 9 points. Patrick Beverly played a little better than yesterday, 10 points, 6 assists and 2 steals."
"Now onto the most exciting part of the evening! There has been a great buzz around here all day. We caught some other D-League games earlier, the Iowa Energy beating the Reno Bighorns in a thriller 99 - 98. The Bulls have just recently assigned N. Mirotic to the Energy and he was excellent today. The Bighorns have lost David Andersen who has been signed up by the Houston Rockets. The lowly Texas Legends have been handed Dominique Jones from the Mavs for the rest of the season.
Our local rivals the Springfield Armor have made a few personnel changes over the last few days. Dexter Pittman has been signed up by the Heat on a 10 day contract. And to replace him, the Armor have gone out and acquired F Malcolm Thomas and C Greg Smith. The Golden State Warriors seem to feel they made a mistake by releasing Jeremy Lin this offseason. Due to his strong play with the Bayhawks, they've signed him up for the rest of the year. The Bayhawks then picked up Brazilian C Lucas Noguiera for the rest of the year.
Speaking of the Warriors, they want to talk to me later! The Blazers, Kings and Hornets are also scheduling meetings with me later. A little different to what i hd been hearing about yesterday. Interesting to hear their proposals. Hoping for a contract for the rest of the season, but will just have to see what makes most sense. Might ring dad after the interviews."Last edited by RMJH4; 12-03-2021, 02:59 PM.Comment

Re: Living in the Shadows – A Patrick Ewing Jr. Story
Lightning strikes twice for New Orleans Hornets and Ewing Jr.
The New Orleans Hornets announced today that they have signed forward Patrick Ewing Jr. to a 10-day contract. In a situation very similar to last season, David West got injured, and the Hornets signed Ewing Jr. to fill some minutes. This year West has again fallen foul of injury, this time to a sprained foot. He will be unavailable to play for the next 2-4 weeks. Ewing Jr. played 9 games for the Hornets last season, and although many believed he played well, the Hornets did not sign him this offseason. The fully fit West and Landry were working very well as a tandem so far this season. However as needs must, they called up a man they know can fill that exact role again.
Ewing Jr. has played in 25 games this season with the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Development League, averaging 19.4 points, 10.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists. Ewing Jr. had discussions with the Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors and Portland Trailblazers this weekend. All teams offered 10 day contracts. Ewing Jr. said he choose New Orleans because "I know a lot of the guys on the roster, and I love the City of New Orleans." Although when David West returns from injury he realises his stay might be cut short. "Yea I know what the situation is. I want to play and contribute well with the Hornets, and worst case scenario, i put myself in the shop window for another playoff chasing team."
Ewing Jr. will be sorely missed by the Maine Red Claws who he led to an excellent 19-6 start. His coach Austin Ainge had the following to say:
"He definitely gave our fans something to be excited about," Head Coach Ainge said. "When we got him, we weren’t just picking him up as a good player - we didn't realize what a good person he was. You'd think a guy with a famous dad would come in and be a prima donna, and he was the exact opposite. He did every public appearance, put in extra time at practice and was polite with the media. I wish Patrick all the best in his 10 days with the Hornets, and hopefully he gets a chance to stay on. If not we will certainly welcome him back here with open arms."
Hornets fans will be hoping for some of this explosive play over the next ten days.

Re: Living in the Shadows – A Patrick Ewing Jr. Story
First off, I love this thread. This story idea is personally my all-time favorite. You're doing a great job. You've actually got me thinking about doing a similar one with an undrafted player in last night's draft.
I do have a couple of questions, though.
1. Are you doing this via My Player or in Association Mode?
2. And how are you getting more than just two "real" players on your NBDL team? Because after I was messing around with it and found out you could only have two players down in the NBDL at one tiem.Comment
