    D.C. Rejuvenation || A Washington Wizards Association (2K11)

    Difficulty: Superstar
    Sliders: The Purist
    Roster: Geebo's Essential
    Season Length: 58 games
Quarter Length: 10 mind (subject to change)
    Shooting Type: Real Player %
Miscellaneous: Playoffs are best of 5-7-7-7 (old format)

    Brief Introduction
I am currently at the start of the 2013-2014 season. I have had this dynasty going for a while, played 1.5 seasons, got away from it for a while, and now have decided to pick it back up. I had pretty good draft classes downloaded all the way through a 2013 class, so I went ahead and simulated the rest of the season I was in and the entire 2012-2013 season.

I had one goal in mind, and that was to almost completely scrap my entire roster (save John Wall) and clear cap-space and collect draft picks. Via trade finder and just playing around until I found a trade that suited me, I have an almost unrecognizable roster for the 2012-2013 season, including two huge FA signings I made in the 2013 offseason which I'll get too momentarily.

Here is a quick rundown of the first three seasons (2010-2013)

      Re: D.C. Rejuvenation || A Washington Wizards Association (2K11)

Washington Makes Splash in 2013 Offseason

Washington D.C. - Despite having their most successful since 1977-1998, the Washington Wizards front office still felt the need to improve upon their already solid roster. Wizards general manager Ernie Grunfeld and the rest of the Washington Wizards spent the last three seasons preparing for an offseason just like this one. After three seasons of clearing cap-space, collecting draft picks, and attempting to build for the future, the Wizards added two big pieces to the proverbial championship puzzle.

Blake Griffin addresses the media a day after signing a 5yr/$84.24M contract with the Wizards

Griffin, the headliner of the 2013 free agent class, had a number of teams knocking down his door in search of his services. The 6'10" power-forward spent the first three seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 14.9 points and 10 rebounds per contest. Griffin, known for his seemingly endless highlight reel of posterizing dunks, decided Washington was the best place to take his talents.

"In the end it came down to winning. I wanted to go to a championship contending team. I enjoyed my three seasons with the Clippers more than appreciate the support I received from their great fan base. However, despite the difficulty of the decision, having a chance to play alongside John Wall and compete for an NBA Championship was too much to turn down." -Blake Griffin

Washington was not done, yet, though. In an interview with Grunfeld he openly admitted he was still not pleased with some of the holes on the team's roster. Having plenty of room for two FA signings the Wizards set their sights on four year budding star James Harden. Harden - 12.9 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.4 apg in his first four years with the Oklahoma City Thunder - was the final piece of the puzzle in the eyes of the Washington front office.

The addition of Griffin and Harden give the Wizards a very talented young core to build around, and if that had been all they done this offseason it would have been enough to satisfy their fans. However, Grunfeld did not see it that way. After wheeling and dealing the Wizards were able to attain two lottery picks for the 2013 draft. One of those picks, via the Cleveland Cavaliers, was used to draft Andre Drummond. Drummond, an athletic 7'0" center, has the tools and potential to be the next great center in the league. With their second pick (11th overall via Memphis) the Wizards added 6'6" shooting-guard P.J. Hairston out of the University of North Carolina. The sharp-shooting guard provides the Grizzlies will give the Wizards some much needed depth at shooting-guard.

Yes, with the signing of Griffin and Harden, and by drafting Drummond and Hairston, it appears the Wizards will be a team to be reckoned with for years to come. There will not be many teams in the NBA that can match the depth and versatility of the Wizards roster, and it appears a once proud franchise is back to among the league elite.

Wizards Get Win in Season Opener

Dallas, TX -- After the Mavericks and Wizards played to a 24-24 stand-still after one quarter, the Wizards explosive offense and athletic defense did Dallas in. Over the final three quarters of play the Wizards outscored the Mavericks by 15 points en-route to a 101-86 victory.

Blake Griffin goes up for an easy lay-up for 2 of his game high 26 points in his debut with the Wizards
First year Wizard Blake Griffin did not disappoint in his debut with his new team. The fourth year man out of Oklahoma dropped in a team-high and game-high 26 points on 10/17 shooting to pace the Wizards offense. Griffin got plenty of help from the rest of the Washington "Big 3" as John Wall chipped in with 16 points and 10 assists and James Harden scored 18 points and grabbed 3 rebounds. The surprise of the game, though, was the 17 year veteran Tracy McGrady. Coming off the bench as the team's 6th man, McGrady contributed 18 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 steals on a near perfect 7/8 shooting from the floor.

"It was nice in my first game with a new team to come out and make a statement. The Mavs have a very talented frontcourt with Dirk and Kevin [Love] and I knew I was going to have to work to get my points. Fortunately I am playing with one of the best point-guards in the league and he set me up for easy buckets all night long."
            -Blake Griffin

John Wall knifes through the Dallas defense and brings down the house with a thunderous one-handed slam

In a game that was close through 2.5 quarters of play, the Mavericks seemingly started to fall apart, except for one player. Long time Dallas star Dirk Nowitzki scored 16 of his team-high 22 points in the second half as the rest of his team was shying away under pressure.

              Re: D.C. Rejuvenation || A Washington Wizards Association (2K11)

Wizards Come Through With Win in Home Opener

              vs.

Washington D.C. - Through the first quarter of play it appeared that the Washington Wizards were going to struggle to not only win their home opener of the 2013-2014 season, but to score points in front of their home crowd. In the opening frame the Wizards managed just 12 points on 4/15 shooting and found themselves behind 18-12. However, over the final three quarters of play the Wizards offense would get rolling as they scored 93 points in the final three quarters of play.

Blake Griffin finishes a fastbreak with a monstrous dunk in traffic

As was the case in Washington's first two games, Blake Griffin paced the offense with a team-high and game-high 28 points on a remarkable 12/14 shooting.
"Well, it's real easy to shoot such a high percentage when I have teammates setting me up for easy dunks. There's not too many players in the league that wouldn't have had the type of game I had tonight if they had the teammates I did setting me up for easy buckets."
              -Blake Griffin

After struggling in the first quarter the Wizards needed any kind of spark from their bench, and they got just that when rookie P.J. Hairston came into the second quarter and hit his first four shots of the game on his way to 10 second quarter points.

"I know that as a rookie I'm going to have to bide my time and pick my spots most nights, but tonight I came into the game knowing we needed a spark. We struggled in the first quarter and I knew the starters needed someone off the bench to pick them up a little while they found their groove. I got some open shots and just knocked them down."
              -P.J. Hairston

P.J. Hairston rises up over his defender and knocks down a three pointer in the second quarter to give the Wizards their first lead of the game

Washington's star point-guard, John Wall, had an abysmal first half, scoring just 4 points on 1/6 shooting, and had 5 turnovers to just 3 assists. However, Wall picked up his play in the third quarter, finishing the frame with 6 points on 4/4 shooting, and he also dished out 7 assists in the third quarter alone. To top things off, Wall hit what might have been one of the final daggers right before time expired in the third quarter to put the Wizards ahead 74-59 after three quarters of play.

John Wall elevates over his man to beat the buzzer at the end of the third quarter

Wall's first half struggles paled in comparison, though, to the struggles of James Harden. Harden scored just two first half points on 1/3 shooting and also had two turnovers. Struggling to create his own shot and get to his spots, Harden used his defense to spur his offense.

"Man I was having all kinds of trouble on the offensive end in the first half. I couldn't get to my spots and I couldn't make shots. It seemed like nothing was going my way. I knew, though, that I could still work my butt on defense and hope that it would lead to me getting some easy buckets on the other end of the floor."
              -James Harden

And he did just that. Wall recorded four of his game-high five steals in the second half, three of which lead directly to a dunk. That seemingly got Harden going on offense as he finished the game with 17 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals on 8/15 shooting.

Wizards Escape New York With Narrow Win

Washington's "Big Four" all played a key role in their win over New York

Blake Griffin finishes off a play the best way he knows how

Carmelo Anthony's 31 points were not enough to get his team a win

John Wall had another brilliant game leading his team to victory

I went ahead and simulated through December and will now play every game against a team from my division (Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Charlotte) and any team with a winning record regardless of conference.

                            Heavyweight Battle Does Not Disappoint

John Wall had another big game leading the Wizards to victory

                            Washington, D.C. --
In a game featuring two of the top three teams in the league fans got what the expected: a close hard-fought battle to the very end. Kevin Durant, the leagues leading scorer (34.7 ppg) had another masterful scoring game, leading both teams with 48 points. However, it was James Harden taking over in the final minute that gave the Wizards enough separation to claim the win. Harden drove to the basket with just over 1:00 remaining in the game, absorbed the contact, and made the lay-up. Despite missing the and-one opportunity that lay-up gave the Wizards a 100-96 lead. Harden would score 8 of the Wizards final 9 points en-route to a 107-103 win at home over the Thunder.

Kevin Durant had 48 points but they were not enough to get the Thunder their 15th win of the season

Both teams struggled offensively in the fourth quarter as Oklahoma City shot just 41% from the floor and Washington shot an even worse 35%. However, it was free-throws that were the difference in this one. The Wizards stepped up and hit 8/10 from the charity stripe in the games final minutes to notch the win.

James Harden skies for a dunk in the first quarter

"We are going to have struggles putting the ball in the hole, but tonight we still were able to get to the line in crunch time and made our free-throws." -Flip Saunders (Wizards head coach)

Blake Griffin finishes through the contact for an and-one late in the game

Both teams also struggled taking care of the ball as the Thunder had 24 turnovers and the Wizards had 16. Washington got a big game from their veteran sixth man, Tracy McGrady, who scored 16 big points for the Wizards. Blake Griffin (22 pts, 12 reb) and John Wall (22 pts, 10 ast) both notched a double-double in leading their team to its 18th win of the season.

Serge Ibaka cleans up a miss with a nice dunk in the fourth quarter

James Harden comes up with a big and-one late in the game. This shot would prove to be the final nail in the coffin.
