Hey guys, I'm really honored to be getting a chance to post my coaching legacy on the boards. I am really trying to have fun and create a good storyline for my coach. Bear with me for the first couple weeks as I am totally brand new to this, and I would love to hear some constructive criticism. I will try to get a game or 2 out everyday, but If I can't then I apologize off the bat. I will try to let you guys know if I'm going to be away for awhile. Other than that tho, I hope you guys enjoy and please comment with questions, opinions, and/or criticisms

    The NCAA Wire.

Bottom Feeders hire new Head Coach.

As of today the reports that Wagner University has been shopping a new head coach have been confirmed. After an abysmal year at 5-26 the Wagner athletic department decided it would be in the best interest of the school to fire the Head Coach and bring in a fresh new face. Their choice was Todd Misko, a 29 year old assistant coach from Boston. We stopped coach Misko and asked him a few questions before he started his job on Saturday.

    Q. So Coach how does it feel to be in Staten Island?
    A. Well, It's been nice so far, but I haven't been around a whole lot yet.

    Q. I've been told that there were quite a few offers on the table, why Wagner?
    A. I felt Wagner was the most balanced team Offense and Defense wise, I felt I could teach my stuff and maybe our first season won't be too bad.

    Q. So, an important part of College Hoops is getting key wins to look good in March, how are you scheduling?
    A. Easy, easy as possible, I don't care about our out of conference record, I just want to win the conference. I'm a gambler like that.

    Q. Sounds risky, last question. What is your recruiting plan?
    A. I got a real boring answer for that one. Whatever I can get.

        Midnight Madness Yields Surprising Results

Coach Misko looked on with joy this morning, as he was surprised by the level his boys played.

"I don't know how they were that bad last year, what I saw was perfect. They left alot to be desired defensively, but offensively was where I was pleasantly surprised."

Wagner's offense on both sides looked immaculate for a bottom feeder, they moved well, shot with confidence, and got everyone involved. Misko's was most impressed with Tyler Murray, who showed off 2 NBA range threes, a couple assists, and a poster on the break.

"Tyler is a guy I can work with, He has tremendous shooting ability and court vision. If I can get his D up and help him establish a penetration game then he will be an intricate part of this team."

In conclusion, Coach Misko is looking forward to teaching and coaching his team this year, and knows if they keep their heads up they will have a good shot a going dancing in March.

Coach Misko Winner In Season/Tournament Opener

This evening the Wagner Seahawks took to the floor at Rupp Arena. The boys were ready to go and it could be told from the time they got off the bus to the lay-up lines. A quick start for Tyler Murray was key in thw long run. He started off with the first seven points including a sweet contested 3, an assist, and a couple key boards. The entire night Wagner was just trying to pull away, and Danny Mundweiler really made a strong contribution to that. When Tyler Murray went out for the first time Mundweiler sparked a nearly stagnant offense.

"Danny was a killer out there, he played like he had ice in his veins. I really liked what I saw from him, I felt after Tyler's quick start the offense was looking for him to put up 40 which is not a realistic goal for most players. Putting in Mundweiler really stretched the floor for us and probably won us the game" Coach Misko raved

The second half was pure excitement. Both teams put together impressive runs, but the game-changer came in the last 4 minutes when Chris Martin bated the opposing point gaurd into a bad pass on the break, which led to a WIIIIIDDDEEE open Mundweiler 3, Martin then proceeded to drop in a layup on another turnover, with the foul. This 6-0 spurt made the final difference as Wagner strolled out with it's first win of the year

Tomorrow the Seahawks face off in the championship game against the #10 Kentucky Wildcats, Coach Misko comments.

"They are brand new to playing with each other, hopefully we can jump them and take away their heart early. I'm goin' with high pressure tomorrow, if they burn us so be it, but I want them to beat us."

Kentucky Too Strong For Upstart Wagner

There was not much good to say about this game as the Wildcats routed the lowly Wagner Seahawks in the Championship Game. The stands at Rupp were filled to the teeth as fans piled in to watch their Cats win an easy trophy. The Wagner boys seemed ready to play at first, but cooler heads and hotter hands prevailed as Kentucky boosted a 30 point lead at the end of the first. Coach Misko shook his head on the sideline we got a comment after the game.

"I don't know what to say about this one, the better team won. I'm not gonna lie and say I knew we had the upset in our hands 'cause we didn't. We have a lot of work to do and we won't face competition like this any time for the rest of the season."

Coach Misko was obviously more worried about getting his guys game experience than beating Kentucky.

Next week we'll see if the Seahawks can return from this loss and beat the Lafayette Panthers.

Wagner Survives Foul Trouble, Outlasts Lafayette

The first half of the Wagner-Lafayette game was one of the ugliest halves of basketball in a long time. It wasn't even a basketball game so much a track meet. Wagner got into early foul trouble as every call seemed to be going against them. Wagner in the first half looked completely outmatched until Chris Martin stepped up. Martin hasn't made all that much noise this year, but today was his day.

"C-Mart was so huge for us today, my stroke was off and we had quite a few guys in foul trouble, he brought it back with shooting AND defense. I finally feel we're getting more chemistry, and we are really taking the load off Tyler [Murray]."

That was what Danny Mundweiler had to say about his back court mate and team after the game. The second half turned out to be less of a foul-fest and some real basketball was finally played. This game was very close all the way through and besides Chris Martin's effort the Seahawks squeaked by. Not to be forgotten, Tyler Murray was also heavily involved putting up 23. Coach Misko looked happy for the win, but also wished his guys would have played less out of control.

"We turned it into a Track Meet, that's not the style I want to play. Watch out for the next couple games if our scores get low 'cause we are going to a more half court friendly offense."

Coach Misko will get to tryout his gameplan next week when Wagner hosts Manhattan.

Murray Drops 35, Wagner Escapes in OT

In one of the most captivating games of the season so far, Wagner put down Manhattan in a barn burner. All night there was one man played that did it all, Tyler Murray. Murray had 35 and 6 threes as he nearly single-handedly won the game for Wagner. Murray, who has had big games in the past comments.

"Tonight was my night man, The other guys couldn't stop me. I gotta give thanks to coach who has taught me a lot already, and to my team for not giving up on me when I play a little selfish."

The Seahawks, who seemed to have control of the game, just couldn't shake the Jaspers, who fought valiantly. The game couldn't be decided in regulation, so to OT we go. In the OT period was when Wagner really started to pull away. The Seahawks showed that they could play deep into games and proved that they can play as a team and have Tyler Murray go big.

Next Week Wagner takes on undefeated Bucknell in Staten Island.
