    2015 PLAYOFFS

    WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS

    (2) Denver Nuggets (51-31)
    vs
    (4) LA Lakers (47-35)

Still Alive, Kobe saves the day

Kobe Bryant hits game winner to keep Lakers alive.

    **GAME 5 - 94-93 Lakers win (3-2)
    - Roger Fox - 24 points - 7 reb - 11 ast - 4 stl - 3 blk
    - Kobe Bryant - 20 points - 5 reb - 7 ast - GW FG at Buzzer
    - Dwight Howard - 15 points - 12 reb
    - Ty Lawson - 15 points - 6 reb - 14 ast
    - Javale McGee - 22 points - 3 reb - 4 blk

    - The crowd was absolutely off the chain in Game 5 in Denver as the Nuggets fans were ready to celebrate their 1st ever trip to the NBA Finals... Standing in their way however, a franchise with 17 NBA Championships, and, one player in particular, Kobe Bryant who had 6 himself. You know what they say, you can never under-estimate the heart of a champion and that was the case in this game...

Kobe Bryant simply willed his team to victory in this game. It wasn't pretty, but, with just 7.8 seconds to go, the Lakers were inbounding the ball, down 1 point in the fourth quarter... Everyone at home knew who was getting the ball, everyone in the arena knew who was getting the ball, of course I'm talking about Kobe Bryant...

As Kobe received the inbound pass, he dribbled through his legs right,,, left,,, then back right,,, he gave Corey Brewer a little shoulder shake and pulled up from 19 just as the clock was about to expire. In typical Kobe Fashion Kobe saved his best for last in this game and the shot 'tickled the twine' and the Lakers got the win at the buzzer... The win gives the Lakers an ever so small amount of momentum heading into Game 6 back in LA... They know they have a slight edge playing at home, but they also know that they simply aren't as athletic as Denver and they've got to keep doing everything they can to slow the game down if they are going to have a shot...

        Lakers win, force Game 7

Kobe carries Lakers to Game 6 victory

        **GAME 6 - 99-91 Lakers win (3-3)
        - Kobe Bryant - 29 points - 6 reb - 2 ast - 3 stl - 11/34fg - 0/8 3pt
        - Dwight Howard - 26 points - 14 reb
        - Danilo Gallinari - 21 points - 3 reb - 3 ast
        - Kenneth Faried - 19 points - 12 reb

        - After taking a 3-1 series lead, the Nuggets failed to close out the Lakers, at home in Game 5 thanks to a buzzer beater from Kobe Bryant. That shot, seemed to give the Lakers new life, and they played inspired basketball in Game 6 in front of their home crowd... Kobe looked like the Kobe of old, jacking up allot of shots, but hitting big ones in key moments...

Dwight Howard contributed in a big way as well, doing work on the boards grabbing 14 rebounds and putting in 26 points (20 in the paint)... With the win in Game 6, the series is now tied 3-3 and Game 7 will be wild in Denver... A series that at one time looked like it was going to be a snooze fest has now become one of the more entertaining series' so far in these playoffs.

          KOBE TIME!

Kobe carries Lakers to NBA Finals

          **GAME 7 - 95-92 Lakers win (4-3)
          - Kobe Bryant - 38 points - 8 reb - 3 ast - 4 stl - 3 blk
          - Dwight Howard - 25 points - 7 reb - 3 blk
          - Roger Fox - 19 points - 5 reb - 4 ast
          - Danilo Gallinari - 20 points - 3 reb - 3 ast
          - Ty Lawson - 12 points - 6 reb - 10 ast - 2 stl

          - Down 3-1 in the Western Conference Finals, Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard brought the Lakers back from the Dead. Both Players averaged over 25 points per game in the final 3 games of the Series, all wins for the Lakers... In Game 7, Kobe had that "Momba" look in his eyes from the Opening Tip... 38 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocked shots... Kobe dominated the game on both sides of the floor...

Having Rookie SF/SG Roge Fox helps as well, as he is extremely versatile and can play, at times, 4 positions on the floor... Fox has been asked to contribute in a big way as a rookie, and, to this point he has answered the bell every time.

The Lakers made their 3-1 comeback on the Defensive end of the Floor. After giving up 118, 111 and 120 points in 3 of the first 4 games of the series (all losses) the Lakers tightened their defense in the final three games of the series, not giving up 100 points in either. Actually, if you look at all four Laker victories, they didn't give up 100 points in any of them.

If the Lakers can play Defense like that, vs the Cleveland Cavaliers they might have a chance to upset them in the NBA Finals... If they get caught in a run and gun shootout with the Cavs, it will be a quick series.

            KEY MATCHUP

            LeBron vs Kobe

This is the matchup we've been waiting to see for years... Quite possibly Kobe's final Season and LeBron, fresh off his 6th league MVP Award, his "eliteness" has never been higher... Athletically LeBron is light years ahead of Kobe at this stage in their Careers, but Kobe's 6 NBA Championship Rings speak volumes about the type of winner this guy is... His burning desire to "BE" Michael Jordan, and now, be "BETTER" than Michael Jordan and win his 7th NBA Title is what will drive him in this series... Will it matter vs a younger, more talented Cavaliers team?

            KEY MATCHUP

Dwight Howard vs Andy Varejao and Cavs Centers

Dwight will have the edge athletically with whoever the Cavaliers put against him, however, the Depth of the Cavs frontline will be a challenge, even for Dwight Howard... Anderson Varejeo, Tyson Chander, Tristan Thompson and Rambo Hightower will all get their shot at stopping Dwight in the series... The Cavs strategy will to throw bodies at Dwight in waves, they will have 24 fouls per game to use against Dwight if need be...

All in all I think this series is going to be more competitive than it may look on Paper... The Cavaliers are young, but they have a few guys that have been there before in LeBron James, Tony Allen and Tyson Chandler... The Lakers on the other hand have Kobe Bryant, who's got 6 rings and Dwight Howard who's got 1... I think this series is going to be very good, but I think the Cavaliers, from top to bottom are just more talented and should win in 6 games.

              **OFF TOPIC**

I'm thinking of using a "real" draft class for this upcoming Season... As you know if you've been following I used the real class for my 1st offseason (muhammad, noel, burke) and then I used a fictional class for my 2nd year (roger fox) and 3rd year (this year)...

I'm thinking of using a real class for next season, what do you think? I'm worried that I could have duplicates from my 1st year and 2nd year though... Does anyone know of any 2nd year classes that I could use with Jabari Parker and the gang?

I'm not sure who these belong to. I know I found them here on OS and just modified them over time to fit how I play... As I get better at the game I constantly tweak them but, here's what I'm playing with now... I'll probably be making them more difficult after this season

@CG check out my 2014 draft class (the one with wiggins and parker etc)

there may be one or 2 duplicate players, but if you give me a quick list of the guys you had in your 2013 one i can take em out quick for ya!

--as for them defense takoff/release/gather/release sliders its how "effective" the contest is at that point of the shot. so jump shot D release is how effective a contested shot is when its being released, and the jump shot defense gather is how effective the contest is when starting the shot (how tight you are on the guy shooting)

Cavs (60-22) #1 seed in East vs Lakers (47-35 #4 seed in West

                          GAME 1

LeBron and the Cavs take Game 1

                          **GAME 1** Cavs win 115-97 (1-0)
                          - LeBron James - 30 points - 5 reb - 3 ast
                          - Kyrie Irving - 27 points - 5 reb - 6 ast - 2 stl
                          - Shabazz Muhammad - 24 points - 5 reb - 3 ast
                          - Roger Fox - 29 points - 6 reb - 3 ast
                          - Kobe Bryant - 16 points - 7 reb - 4 ast - 2 stl
                          - Dwight Howard - 10 points - 6 reb - 2 blk

                          - The Cavaliers came out hot in the 1st quarter, jumping out to a 30-18 lead. From that point on there was no turning back as Kyrie, Irving, Shabazz Muhammad and LeBron James dominated the game on both ends of the floor... As expected, LeBron played Defense vs Kobe Bryant all night long, and as you can see, LeBron's Defense clearly effected Kobe as he only scored 16 points on 5/20 shooting...

Dwight Howard lost his first battle vs the Cavaliers cast of Centers... Anderson Varejao, Tyson Chandler, and Rambo Hightower did a great job keeping Dwight off the boards and holding him to just 10 points in the game...

The lone bright spot for the Lakers was Roge Fox, who kept the game relatively close for awhile as he scored 29 points... On this night, he didn't have enough help to keep up with the Cavs. The Lakers are going to need to figure out how to slow down this Cavaliers Offense, as right now they look over-matched and much less athletic on both ends of the floor...

                            GAME 2

Irving shines in Game 2 victory

                            **GAME 2** Cavs win 119-91 (2-0)
                            - LeBron James - 35 points - 9 reb - 7 ast
                            - Kyrie Irving - 36 points - 4 reb - 5 ast
                            - Anderson Varejao - 4 points - 18 rebounds
                            - Roger Fox - 21 points - 6 reb - 2 ast
                            - Tyshawn Taylor - 20 points - 4 reb - 5 ast

                            - Kobe Bryant - 13 points - 4 reb - 5 ast - 4 stl

                            - After winning Game 1 by 18 points, the Cavaliers knew the Lakers would bring their "A Game" in Game 2 of the NBA Finals... That was the case, well, in the 1st half at least... The Lakers were actually leading in this game 53-50 at the half... In the 2nd half however, the Lakers totally fell apart, only scoring 41 points and shooting a terrible 32% from the field in the 2nd half... The Cavaliers cranked up the defensive pressure in the 2nd half and picked up their offensive game as well shooting 48% from the field... The Cavs outscored the lakers 69-41 in the 2nd half of the game.

Kyrie Irving was putting on a show vs 2nd year Laker PG Tyshawn Taylor... Irving put in 36 points on the night and dished out 5 assists... He was setting up his teammates all night long and, when he wasn't scoring or assisting, LeBron was taking care of the rest... LeBron's line for the night, 35 points - 9 reb - 7 ast has been a typical night in this playoff run for James... He's dropping over 30 points per game, and averaging nearly 8 rebounds and 8 assists... Nobody has put up numbers like that, on a nightly basis in a long time, if ever in NBA history...

A major question that's being asked in LA is WHERE IS DWIGHT HOWARD? In Game 1, Dwight only scored 10 points and had 6 rebounds, here in Game 2 he only scored 16 points and had 8 rebounds... Thats not going to get it done if the Lakers are going to turn things around in this series... They need Dwight to be "Dwight" and start dominating the game on both ends of the floor...

Also, in this game and series to this point, Kobe Bryant has been all but taken out of both games at the hands of LeBrons James' Defense... Kobe was held to 16 points on 5/20 shooting in Game 1, in Game 2, only 13 points on 6/24 shooting... Kobe didn't get to the foul line at all in Game 2, which is a shocker considering the game was played in Los Angeles... Its no secret that Kobe is older and less explosive than he used to be, but, I think its a bit surprising that LeBron has been able to completely take him out of the series so far...

The LA Lakers' backs are firmly against the wall now as they have to head to Cleveland for Games 3,4,5 (thanks 2k glitch)... Down 2-0, after losing the first two games of the series at home, I don't see any way the Lakers can prevent the inevitable... They are going to have to win 2 of 3 games, in Cleveland, where the Cavs have only lost 3 times all year (1 in playoffs to sixers)...

Actually, the NBA is weird in that only in the NBA Finals does the series location order change. In the quarters, semis, and conf. finals, game location goes 2-2-1-1-1. but in the finals it changes to 2-3-2. So it isn't a glitch. but keep up the good work. love reading this. have it bookmarked and check it every day.
