Re: 2k13 Cleveland Cavaliers - Rise up and Rebuild
2015/16 TRADE DEADLINE
Celtics trade:
SF Jeff Green (86) 28 yr old
Grizzlies trade:
SF Alonzo Gee (79) 29 yr old
2016 1st round pick (unprotected)
- The Jeff Green era is over in Boston in large part because of the emergence of SF Alex Poythress, the #8 overall pick in 2013... The 28 year old Green averaged 12.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.4 blocks and 33.4 minutes per game this year for Boston... Poythress, who is considerably younger (23 years old) than Green (28 years old) is averaging 14 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in just 21 minutes per night...
Green has an expiring contract, so, this deal makes sense for Boston who isn't looking to lock him up long term after this year... Boston also acquire an unprotected 1st round pick in this upcoming draft, which features 2 franchise changing talents in Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins...
For Memphis, they add a versatile Defender in Green and along with #1 overall pick from last year, David Teague, the Grizzlies are starting to build another grind it out defensive team that could carry them deep into the playoffs into the Future... The Day after the Trade, Memphis gave Jeff Green a contract extension of 5 years, $66.14m...
Wizards trade:
SF - Dario Saric (77) 23yr old - (2013 #15 pick)
SF/PF - Jan Vesely (74) 25yr old - (2011 #5 pick)
16' 1st round pick (unprotected)
Hawks trade:
PF/SF - Josh Smith (90) 30 yr old
- The Hawks have gone back and fourth for the better part of 4 Seasons on the thought of trading their Franchise Player, Josh Smith... This year as they battle through another losing season, they finally pulled the trigger and are moving on and looking towards the future... The Hawks acquire two versitile small forwards in Dario Saric and Jan Vesley, both who have not lived up to their expectations so far... They also acquire a 1st round draft pick, in a draft that is expected to be of the caliber of the 03' LeBron, Carmelo, Wade, Bosh draft...
For Josh Smith, this finally gives him the opportunity to play alongside two players that are equal to him from a talent perspective... PG John Wall is having a break out season and is on everyone's short list of League MVP Candidates... SG Bradley Beal has been very consistent in his short NBA Career, averaging 18 point, 5 reb, 5 ast, and nearly 2 steals so far in his career... With Wall, Smith and Beal the Wizards would be a very serious contender in the Eastern Conference...
Hawks trade:
PF Al Horford (85) 29 yr old
Warriors trade:
PF David Lee (75) 32 yr old
2016 1st round pick (Top 3 protected)
- The rebuild in Atlanta continues as just hours after trading Josh Smith to the Wizards, they decide to send Al Horford, to the Warriors for bassically a first round pick... Sure David Lee, a former NBA All Star in his own right is a decent player, but at 32 years old, he clearly isn't in the future plans for the Hawks... The big draw was obviously another 1st round pick, although its Top 3 protected ((which would turn into a 2016 2nd round + a 2017 unprotected 1st rounder))... If the Warriors 1st rounder is outside of the Top 3, the Atlanta Hawks would have 3, 1st round draft picks in one of the best Draft's in 10 years...
For the Warriors, they get a legit big man that can score the basketball... Al Horford has been playing out of position in Atlanta for basically his entire career, actually, both he and Josh Smith were playing out of position... Smith is a true (SF) and Horford is more suited to play the (PF) instead of (C)... In Golden State, Horford will play the (PF) Position while Isaiah Austin and
Ed Davis hold down the Center position... This addition makes the Warriors a serious player in a tough Western Conference, with Steph Curry, Clay Thompson, Harrison Barnes and now Al Horford this team should be good...

Thanks man... Glad you're enjoying the read... I've rekindled my love for this game over the last few days... I can't wait to see who Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins go to after this Season is over... Do you believe the hype?Comment

Around the League
The Knicks were 16-16 when Mike Woodson was fired on January 1st...
Since then they have gone 18-8 and have taken over 1st place in the Atlantic Division...
New Head Coach Lloyd Porter's system has taken
shape sooner than most expected and the Knicks are playing great
basketball... With Kemba Walker, Dion Waiters, Rudy Gay and
LaMarcus Aldridge, they have one of the most talented teams in the league...
The defending Champion Cavaliers ((ahh it feels good to say that)) continue
to roll through the NBA and they look like they are
on their way to another 60 win Season...
They've all but got their
Division locked up and baring injury they are clearly the favorite
heading into the Playoffs... LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Shabazz
Muhammad have become the New "Big 3" in the NBA and the
Cavaliers are "must see TV" on a nightly basis...
John Wall, Bradley Beal, Nene, Emeka Okafor and now Josh Smith
lead this Wizards team and the hope is that they will
now be legit title contenders in the Eastern Conference...
I don't see how they couldn't be taken seriously, as from
what I can see, Wall, Beal and Smith all fit together very
well... Nene and Okafor are two solid rim protectors and
they allow the others to do their thing...
The OKC Thunder are once again among the league's elite
teams this year... With 36 wins they are well on their way to
another 50+ win season... Don't look now however,
as the Denver Nuggets are right on their
heals in the Northwest Division...
Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are once again
putting up All Star / MVP numbers and if they can both
stay healthy through the playoffs (something they haven't
done since 2014) they should be the favorite in the West...
Is this the year the Clippers get their first NBA Championship?
Well, they've got the talent, that's for sure...
Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and Carmelo Anthony are
three of the league's brightest stars... Can the Clippers play
enough Defense to make a deep playoff run remains to be see
The Clips have everything a Championship team needs,
except, the fact that they don't play great team defense...
Can their unmatched offensive firepower carry them to an
NBA Title?
The Rockets are in 1st place in the Northwest Division
and they look like they are ready to make a deep playoff run...
I don't expect them to get out of the 2nd round,
with the rest of the West being slightly better, but
nonetheless they wont be an easy out in the Playoffs...
James Harden has been carrying the team scoring this year
averaging around 25 points per game... The addition of
(C) DeAndre Jordan has proved to be a great move
as he provides a great inside presence and rim protector...
