    Building the Atl (NBA 2K5)

I don't follow the NBA and I haven't since the Charlotte Hornets left. I have a copy of NBA 2k5 sitting around and decided to fire it up. This is going to be as sim as possible, but I don't really know players outside of the stars. Should be a fun ride. I chose Atlanta because they're local and I hate the Bobcats. Plus it's a little of sentimental value because I remember the Spudd Webb and Human Highlight Reel days of Hawks basketball.

    Big Changes in Atlanta

Today Atlanta Hawks management has announced their search for a new GM for the upcoming 2004-2005 season. His name is Pudgy Flash and has spent the last 3 years as an assistant for the Hawks player development system. Mr. Flash is a graduate of Western Carolina and has promised to bring this team more recognition, more wins, more excitement and more fans. "I remember watching this team growing up in South Carolina. I also remember the TBS days of Dominique Wilkins and the excitement he brought to the country wide audience. I promise we will win games, maybe not this year, but we will build a contender in the future." With just weeks before the season begins, Mr. Flash has his work cut out for him. As far as any hints at changes, Pudgy is quoted as saying, "We want to keep our new players while building a solid nucleus. We will see what happens next week at camp and decide personnel then." It should be an interesting season either way.

        HAWKS MAKE SPLASH WITH TRADE

Today the Hawks are going to hold a press conference to announce a major trade. Atlanta has traded Antwan Walker and Johnson to Utah for Carlos Boozer and Carlos Arroyo. Atlanta's GM, Pudgy Flash, was quoted as saying, "This helps out our defense a lot. Boozer is young and Arroyo can be a good distributor and has time to mesh with our young talent corps." Stay tuned as Mr. Flash promised at least one more big trade in the works.

          Atlanta trades another

The Hawks continued their retooling tonight acquiring Wally Szczerbiak from Minnesota for Tony Delk. The Hawks have released a 10 am press conference tomorrow to officially announce the deal. Team representatives could not be reached for comment, but Delk himself leaked it to the press after a heated exchange with team officials after hearing about the trade of Antwan Walker.

The Hawks also are set to announce the signing of Travis Best to be the backup point guard.

Hawks Lose Tough Game To Suns
Steve Nash carved up Atlanta tonight with his speed and clutch shooting. Phoenix took the lead early and never let Atlanta get any closer than 6. The Suns had a nice run in the 4th as they stretched the lead out to double digits against the Hawks bench.

                Ray Allen Clips Hawks

Atlanta dropped a tough one tonight due to Ray Allen. Allen's 43 points propelled the Sonics to a 92-88 win. Wally Szczerbiak had 21 points and was the lone deep threat for the Hawks. Carlos Arroyo slashed through Seattle's defense to give out 17 assists and Carlos Boozer had a double double for Atlanta.

                  Trouble in Atlanta?

Today it was reported out of Atlanta that Carlos Arroyo will be out for 32 days. Rumors are that the Hawks are sitting him because of his attitude off the court. The Hawks front office denies it as does Arroyo, but Arroyo does mention that he had a sit down with the coach. "It was just a talk I had with the coach. I was worried about the team's 0-2 start this week as well as my shooting performance. I feel better about everything and am happy to be in Atlanta. I have some bone spurs and will be out a month, that is all." General Manager Pudgy Flash has also announced the team has traded for 3 point threat Erick Piatkowski in exchange for Chris Crawford. To take the place of the "injured" Arroyo, the Hawks have signed Mateen Cleaves. The Hawks play the Lakers in LA tomorrow evening.

                    Hawks Storm Lakers

The sold out LA arena left stunned and grumbling after a huge 100-70 win by the Atlanta Hawks. Atlanta used a stifling defense and an inside out attack to stun the hometown Lakers by 30. The game was never in question as Atlanta held a double digit lead throughout the game. Wally Szczerbiak led the way with 24 points and Travis Best did a masterful job with distributing the ball in the absence of Carlos Arroyo. The bright spot for the Hawks continues to be Carlos Boozer who had another double double. Al Harrington also continues his hot shooting after making the move to power forward. Harrington is quoted as saying he "loves the position change because he can better utilize his feet and quickness against bigger forwards."

The defense was the real star tonight as they held Kobe Bryant to 21 points on 9/29 shooting. Josh Childress and Boris Diaw are credited most as the young duo used their athletic skills to get in Kobe's face. The lone dark spot for the Hawks was newcomer Erick Piatkowski, going 1-6 from 3 point land and earning a quick trip to the doghouse for his shooting.

Hawks win 2nd in a row

Atlanta officially has a winning streak after hanging on against the Cleveland Cavaliers, 95-84. Atlanta got out to a 20 point lead before an atrocious third quarter allowed the Cavs to cut the lead to 4. Travis Best put in a career performance tonight, scoring 24 and getting 14 assists. Erick Piatkowski came off the bench to spark the offense and lead the team with 25 points. Atlanta used outside shooting to get the offense rolling and was forced to pick up the slack of a struggling Wally Szczerbiak.

For the Cavs, Lebron James had 31 to lead all scorers. Cleveland failed to hit a 3 point shot all game, but was able to climb back in by second chance points and rebounding. Eric Snow went 8-11 from the field and handed out 7 assists.
