Fairfield Enjoys Best 11 Days in Basketball History

After a Sweet 16 run last season, fans were excited to see what Patrick Beilein's Fairfield Stags could do for an encore this season. With a toughened non-conference schedule, Fairfield would have opportunities for big time victories. So far, the Stags have succeeded in becoming the talk of college basketball.

Over the last 11 days, the Stags are a perfect 4-0 with 3 wins over ranked teams. The run began with a win over the number 1 ranked UCLA Bruins in which Fairfield reached triple digits. The 100-90 victory made Fairfield the lead story on sports shows around the country, and Beilein's squad did their best to remain in the spotlight.

The Duke Blue Devils. Unquestionably one of the most popular college basketball program, but, at the same time, probably one of the most disliked as well. Win or lose, Duke makes news. In this case, fourth-ranked Duke losing at the horn makes for great television. PF Deki Joneliunas canned a 25-footer from the right wing as time expired and a jubilant Fairfield team rushed the floor in celebration as champions of the Preseason NIT.

Fairfield continued to be red hot by holding on to beat a tough Big Ten team in Iowa. To finish their incredible stretch of wins over big-time teams, Fairfield took down the #14 Florida Gators on the road. Offense has been the key to Fairfield's success, with the Stags scoring 100, 98, 78, and 91 points in their four wins.

Thanks for following! I was thinking about using the Pitinos, but then I would already be starting in the B1G at Minnesota. Then I looked up what Patrick Beilein is doing these days, and since he is a new coach and I'm a Michigan fan (where his dad coaches), it just made sense.
