As I walk into the office I see Tom Benson walk over to me, he looks at me then says


"Ethan, your the new GM of the New Orleans Pelicans"


I look at him like he's joking don't know if he is or is he being serious, I then say


"What about Dell?"


Tom looks at me, and his eyes start to water a bit,


"Dell, died this morning in a car accident, I decided to stay in the organization and hire are best scout who I believe is you"


I looked at him, then I looked down it was a sad day for the New Orleans Pelicans


"I will do it for Dell"


this was my chance to be what I wanted to be for a long time now, but I never wanted it to come in a package deal like this. However I will take this job because of what Dell was and for Dell.


One Week Later


"Ok kid this is your new office, we cleaned it all out" Tom said with a sad look on his face, he walked out of the office and into his.


The organization just had a memorial service for Dell, but it was time to start getting ready for the Pelicans next season, well "first" season. I need an assistant GM some one who has been around basketball for a long time. I know just the person. I picked up the phone and dialed in.


"Hello" he said


"Spence, my man long time no see" I said gripping the phone harder and harder hopping he would take the job


"Ethan, what do you want from me now"


I smiled "Spencer, how would you like to be my assistant GM?"


"You mean leave Europe, and my wonderful retired life as a European All-Star basketball player, to become an assistant GM in the NBA" then he started laughing "I'd love to I'll be there on Sunday!" He hung up the phone

I have no clue why he was so excited about that, but whatever it worked.

I waited for today was Sunday and soon, Spencer would come in for his first day he was excited to see his old friend, even though there was a large age difference Spence and I have been friends from when I was in grade school, he I learned everything I know about basketball from him, he became successful in Europe, I became a scout. He was a great player but he had to many injury issues to ever play in the NBA.


Just as I finish reliving me memories, Spence walks in. His Brown hair was cut shorter and he let his beard grow out more. He stops at the front desk, starts talking to the receptionist then walks away and into my office.


He looks around set down his brief case and finally says "Is that "Pistol" Pete jersey stitched?"


I looked up from him at my desk then looked at my "Pistol" Pete jersey I have in a glass case on my wall "Yea, pretty tough and expensive to get"


He laughs then said "Out of a poor man's wallet"


I grin "Not every one gets to be a All-Star European player you know"


"they could if the tried" He pulls out a cigar and lights it


"Yea yea yea" I say as I get out my TV remote turn on the TV


"Whats that" He says, picks up his brief case pulls out his glasses and looks "oh Shabazz Muhammed"


"that's our guy"


Spence just laughs "Yea if we wanted to waste a top five pick on some one who can only score"


I look at him and tell he's being serious "He is a great scorer we just would have to develop his defensive game"


"Noel is a more safe option"


"Noel is going to get drafted by Orlando, even if he fell to us we already have out big man, are shot blocker, we need a scorer"


He just shakes his head "We have Gordon"


"Gordon came to me yesterday and asked for a trade"


He just sits there, "Then we get Shabazz, isn't the NBA about taking risks"

"With the first pick in the 2013 NBA draft the Cleveland Cavilers select, Nerlans Noel out of Kentucky"

I smiled this was going to plan so far, knowing there was only one more pick that was between the Pelicans getting Shabazz,


Spence grins "Only can we hope the Bobcats take some one else"

"If the Bobcats do take Shabazz we could always take McLemore"

Spence starts playing some of McLemore's highlights on the TV "The kid can shoot, we know that"


"He is compared to Ray Allen in a few ways"


I hear the phone ring, grip it with my hand tightly and pick it up


"Hello?"


I hear a scratchy voice "Ethan how are you it's Geoff (GM of the Kings)"



"Oh hey Geoff"


"Look well give you Jimmer, Douglas, and our pick for your pick"



I laughed "No way that happens" I quickly hang up the phone



"With the Second pick in the 2013 NBA draft the Charlotte Bobcats select Ben McLemore out of Kansas"


I pick the phone up dial in "Shabazz Muhammad"


Spence has a sigh of relief "Now our only problem is Eric Gordon"

I smirk "and the free agency blood bath begins"


Spence looks at me "What happened?"


"D12 to Houston, Iggy does not want to resign with the Nuggets, Kings release Evans and Cousins, then sign Josh Smith"


Spence shakes his head "We need on the ****ing action"


I pull out some papers and toss them in his lap


"We ain't got the ****ing money" I sigh "any options to send Eric Gordon?"


Spence shakes his head "He is on the block only teams interested are Wizards, Suns, TWolves, and Nuggets"


I get up put on my jacket, look down at him "Well follow up in the morning"

I walk out to my car start it up

I pull up in my drive way turn off the car, look around and walk into my new home. It's not big but it's not small, fits my needs pretty nice. I light a candle dim the lights for soon enough my lady friend would come, Her name is Lenora she has brown hair and is on the shorter side. I met her at the office she is the receptionist there. We had a few dates that I think went pretty well, we've been together for about a week and a half now. I hear the bell ring.


I open the door, "Why don't you look lovely"


She was wearing nothing spectacular, skinny jeans and a tight shirt, he hair was back in a pony tail and her lip stick was barley showing.


"Ready for a night of fun?"

Eric Gordon Traded





Today the New Orleans Pelicans stated that Eric Gordon was traded to the Denver Nuggets for Danilo Gallinari, these were not the only two players traded we will tell you more when the league knows it. Eric Gordon demanded a trade at the start of the off season. Finally new GM of the Pelicans found a trade he was happy with, this will give the Pelicans there SF for the future and let them get rid of the unhappy Eric Gordon. For the Nuggets they will get the young Eric Gordon to take Iggy's spot in the lineup after he left and signed with the Detroit Pistons, who now are trying to get Demarcus Cousins to join them to make a playoff run in the East. There will be other players leaving as well but the League said it is not known who those players are.
