On A Path To Success | Joshrmlb's MyCareer Video Dynasty

    Prospect Preview
    Josh Ruda
    Point Guard
    Height : 6'5'' Weight : 213'
    Senior

    About The Player

Josh Ruda is an oversized point guard who shoots lights out, but also developed a knack to get his teammates involved. He first arrived on the scene at Northeastern as a starter his Freshman year with the team. In his Senior season he averaged 25.5 points per game with 9.8 assists per game. However, he isn't the most athletic guy in the world, and struggles doing things that even back-up NBA point guards can do naturally.

    Strengths

One of the best three point shooters in the nation a year ago, shooting 57.9% last year and almost 50% through his career. Doesn't need much space to knock down the three ball. He has a abnormal shooting stroke, but it works for him. His mechanics might hurt him in the NBA, but his shot rarely gets blocked. Great free throw shooter, shot 93.4% last year. His size makes him a great rebounder at the point guard position. He can create his own shot pretty easy. Also, he is a great pick and roll ball-handler. He tends to attack the paint on the pick and roll. He can easily make any scorer on his team better by his passing skills.

    Weaknesses

Not very athletic for a athlete who scores nearly 25 points per game. He's going to have to work hard to become an NBA starter, but he can do it. Also, he tends to become inconsistent at times. Also struggles attacking the paint over taller guys, but he almost rarely struggles shooting over them. Tends to make low IQ decision on the court.

    Projected Draft Position

Ruda has a chance to hit the lottery, but I would expect this point guard to fall to around 13-15.

                      NBA Rookie Showcase Game

                      Josh Ruda Breakdown
Offense - Ruda impressed a lot of scouts will his willingness to play versus better athletes. His scoring wasn't as consistent as we hoped, buy he played pretty solid. Ruda scored 17 points shooting 5 from 9 from the field (4-6 from three pointers). He might have to develop a better game as a slasher, but for right now he's a solid shooter. Ruda was also a consistent distribute of the ball, reciving 7 assists (which should've been more if Harrison Barnes wouldn't of kept on missing layups). He arguably had the best offensive showing out there out of anyone.

Defense - Ruda failed to show the scouts at the Showcase that he can at least play average defense. He consistently was out of position and gave up too many easy baskets. Will this hurt him in the NBA? Yes, he will need to improve here. Will this hurt his draft stock? Ummm, maybe. However, Ruda was an excellent rebounder, posting 5 rebounders, even over more athletic guys. That could honestly be the key to his draft stock. He might want to practice his defense a little more before his first NBA game though.

Draft Night 2012; Josh Ruda's Apartment

Josh Ruda was just thinking to himself, which team he was going to draft him. None of his interviews really went that smooth, so could he be a potential draft slide? He just checked the clock and was about to leave for Madison Square Garden, when he got a surprise phone call.

There is an awkward silence. Ruda and Smith had once been a backcourt duo that lead Northeastern to their first NCAA Tournament appearance. They had been pretty close friends in college too. Now he was an agent?

Ruda thinks to himself, did he really play that well in the showcase? Also, he thinks, can he trust Joel as his agent.
