Cold As Ice: The Tony Winter Story
"Hmm..." I have to consider it, the kid was dedicated, and he could be useful. But then again he is just a kid, and who knows what kind of trouble this could cause if there are rules against it. I thought.
"Sorry kid, no dice. I like you and all, but I can't take that risk."
"But, Tony.."
"Jason, there's no buts. It's done. I'm not gonna do it."
"Agh, whatever. You can go to f*cking Hell!" He screamed.
"Jason..."
"Goodbye, Son of a B*tch!" He ran off.
Wow... I thought.
So I got back up on the stage and listened to the the rest of the comments.
***************************************
Later That evening, at Tony and LeAnna's House
"So how did the Press Conference go?" LeAnna inquired
"Alright..." I said half-heartedly. I sort of spaced out for a minute, thinking about what happened with that Jason kid today.
"Tony? Tony are you ok?"
"Huh? Sorry, I was uh, distracted. I'm thinking about What happened with that kid, Jason."
"What happened?"
I told her about how he tried to sway me to get what are essentially spies in other team's facililties.
"You did the right thing. And don't worry about that kid. He 16, he's unstable."
"OK."
**********************************************
The next day, at the office
Mark was talking to me about the press conference.
"You did good, kid."
"thanks. I tho---"
I was cut off by an alarm. I buzzed LeAnna
"Are you OK, what's going on?"
"Someone has broken in and tripped an Alarm, I'm fine."
"Ok good."
I locked the door behind her.
************************************************** *
Another Cliffhanger. That's like three in a row lol. I'm going on a trip to Louisiana tomorrow to participate in The Manning Passing Academy. I will be able to post tomorrow night because I'm spending the night at a hotel half way through the 13 hour drive. When I'm at the hotel I'm gonna post one more tonite, and then a few tomorrow at the room.Comment

Thanks. this is my second year going. I got to meet Peyton and Eli up close and personal. I gave Peyton a fist bump. Eli only got Hand shake, I respect him, but as a Pats fan, he is a maddening enigma for me. And you'll see a lot of Jason in season two.Comment

Eli on the other hand ... he beat us at Ole Miss a few times. Never liked the idea of him at the Giants (displacing Kurt Warner as starter, grr). However, in the Super Bowl I had to roll with him both times as I can't stand the Patriots (despite their propensity to draft former Gators). I picked the Eagles to win the Super Bowl against them and, of course, they didn't. Lost money on that pick (I was in high school and it was the one, and only game, I ever bet). Never. Will. Forgive.
But they have Tebow now ... but I can't cheer for them until they actually play him. And even then my loyalties will be divided. Sports, tis a strange and befuddling mistress.
Anyways, enjoy yourself. Maybe get Peyton to chuck a football at your back like he did in that SNL skit years ago.Comment

Peyton definitely is my favorite of the Mannings. As a Gator fan, I took great pleasure in watching Peyton lose to us every year when he was at Tennessee. In the pros, he was my dude.

In my senior year I might get to catch passes from him and all the college QBs there in the Showcase QB challenge on the last day.

Haha, maybe. I'm a tebow Fan, so I would like to see him take the reigns after Brady rides off into the sunset ( with no less than 4 rings hopefully, even though he doesnt need another, he's already the best ever) And yeah sports are a fickle mistress indeed. And catching passed from Peyton? Dude, that sounds awesome. Shoot for that.Comment

Re: Cold As Ice: The Tony Winter Story, an NBA 2k13 Dynasty
Hell yeah on both counts. I'd love for a team to actually trust Tebow as a starter again, he's done nothing but be a class act and a true pro throughout his time in the league, deserves another shot.

Re: Cold As Ice: The Tony Winter Story, an NBA 2k13 Dynasty
Yeah he has. But you would have to expect the JETS to ruin everyones favorite Choir Boy's career. He'll get his. No doubt, even if he has to pull a Flutie and spend some time in the CFL. And yeah, the top 20 or so senior wideouts get to catch passes. I'm a speed receiver with good route running but I need to keep working on my hands. I've only played football since I was 12, and I'm turning 15 in september so I have some catching up to do. *pun intended*. I'm a former middle school track star (I'm gonna do track in the spring, andI'm gunning for the 400 meter dash record at the school by the end of my high school career) so the speed is there and from what I observed in my football league last to seasons, I'm lightyears ahead of the other kids my age in route running, so I got a shot. Football tryouts for high school are right when I get back but there early in the morning so I'll still have plenty of time for this. It would be a dream of mine to catch passes from the manning bros.
Safe travels and looking forward to more.
(Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to sit in my rocking chair and watch Turner Classic Movies ... only 14? Man, I feel OLD at 24 now, lol. And no, I'm really not gonna watch TCM, they rarely show anything I like. But I do have a rocking chair. I like to rock)

Atlanta Hawks Free Agency Preview
By Michael Aviani
Yes, The draft is finally over with us making outstanding moves. So now we have to turn to Free agency. WHat are our potential targets, What is the plan for how we go about free agency, and who will be the biggest priority to retain or sign this offseason? Well with all the cap flexibility we have in our 16 million dollars in cap space, as well as the ability to open up even more if we use our Amnesty clause on Carlos Boozer.
This offseason's biggest priority was made clear by GM Tony Winter. Bring back Jeff Teague. Its clear that in the age of he point guard, having a star at the one is a key to a team's success (unless your the Heat, where you win by specifically minimizing the role of the 2 most important, Center and Point guard positions and still win by just having more talent). And while Chris Paul can be that for us right now, and could make us a title contender right now. But he also limits us from the perspective of cap space. Bringing Back Teague is the better move. He is about 15 million dollars cheaper (expected to make between 5 and 7 million a year, give or take, vs CP3's max deal at close to 22 million), has star potential, give us room to bring in another quality or even star player to complement him (and maybe 2 or 3 if we Amnesty Carlos Boozer).
A Big Man, an Even Bigger Contract
Former Chicago Bulls' Power Forward Carlos Boozer performed admirably down the stretch for us after the Josh Smith deal, averaging over 18 points a game and close to 10 boards. However, his contract is very large to keep for a player who likely will not start with Al Horford making the move to PF since Nerlens Noel came to town. I fully expect to see him get Amnestied by the Hawks soon. It will clear upwards of 15 million dollars in cap space, giving us 31 MILLION DOLLARS to play with. There is a lot that can be done with that kind of money.
One guy who's name has been tossed around the last few days is Andre Iguodala. With us effectively out of the Dwight hunt and the CP3 hunt, the next man up would be Andre Iguodala, the versatile swingman with a lot of athleticism. He would be a great addition to any team and especially ours since we really don't half a half-court presence on out team right now, and we have a whole at two-guard since it has become apparent that Tim Hardaway Jr. is more than likely to be our 6th man and is to much of a defensive liability to be a starter. Iggy is a premiere on-ball defender, can create shots for others (he averaged over seven APG last year) in the half court, can be a guy you can run the offense through when Teague isn't an option (granted he re-signs), and is an outstanding rebounder, for a wing player. Being that his role on offense should expand if he come here, we should see a rise in point production as well (he averaged just 11 PPG last season, lowest since his rookie year).
Some other players we could be interested in are:
PG CJ Watson
PG DJ Augustin
PG Armon Johnson
G JJ Redick
SG Tony Allen
SF Kyle Korver
F Matt Scott
C Jermaine O'Neal
C Sam DalembertComment

Cold As Ice: The Tony Winter Story
I called the cops and they were already on there way to arrest the burglar."
We're OK, whoever it is can't get in here, I tried to reassure myself, to no avail.
"What do you think they're after? I mean he's basically breaking into an office building, other than a few personal valuables, there's really not much here to steal. And it seems like a lot if trouble over a few nice things here or there." LeAnna asked
"I have no idea." I said.
"It's actually quite obvious, you two." Mark said matter-of-factly
"Oh really Mark? Then why don't you tell us whats going on?" I replied
"Well it quite simple, we have something here you can't get a bank or in a home. We have intellectual property. We have information that many corrupt people would pay big money for. And the guy who is breaking in has a vendetta against you Tony."
"Who is it?"
"That kid of course."
"How do you figure some kid goes as far as to break into a secure building just to get back to me?"
"Because from what you told me, that was a smart kid in need of some money. And he has every reason to come after you in his mind. You betrayed him in his mind. He's wrong of course but then there is no reasoning with a teenage boy."
"Right."
As we finished that last sentence, we heard a gunshot and then the glass doors into my office shattered. Standing there was Jason, with pistol in hand. stepping into the room.
"Tony."
"Jason, what are you doing? Your only making thi---"
"QUIET! I'm the one with the gun. Now hands in the air."
We did as we were told, the kid meant business. While Mark was right about Jason being the culprit, There was a flaw in his theory. He's not here for information, he's here for blood. My blood.
"Now get down on your knees!" He commanded
We did. I could hear LeAnna sobbing. She's been through so much, from being kidnapped in Houston, to now this? I will not let this kid hurt LeAnna. Even if It costs me my life. I thought
He walked up to me and put the gun to my head. In what seemed like a fraction of a second, I heard a gunshot, but I was alive. LeAnna, though, she was crying on the ground, with a bullet in her hip. Jason was standing with the gun on the ground and his hands up. There we're police at the door. I felt a rush of emotions and was overwhelmed. I didn't think beyond that point. I acted. I tackled Jason and began beatIng the kid, screaming "HOW DARE YOU!!! HOW DARE YOU SHOOT HER!!!!" and shouting many curses until the cops restrained me and cuffed him.
"YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN HERE SOONER!" I shouted in no particular focus but it was interpreted to be directed at the cops.
"YOU COULD HAVE SAVED HER!!" I cried out. One officer tried to calm me down but it could not be done. After struggling and struggling I finally stopped. I curled up into a fetal position and cried as a softly whispered to myself, "You failed, Tony, you said you saved her and you failed..."
By this point LeAnna was unconscious and being taken away by paramedics while Mark tried to comfort me. I shook him off and tried to run to the paramedics to get LeAnna, my mind clouded by the events. i didn't reach them. I sat there and sobbed.
"Tony, bud, I need you to calm down." Mark said."
"I can't.... LeAnna, is hurt and I couldn't do anything to save her.... I failed..."
"You didn't do anything wrong. You had a gun to your head and she saved you. She thrusted herself at Jason to knock him off balance. And she did. But as he fell he accidentally pulled the trigger of the gun, it fired and fell out of his hand. The bullet hit her in the thigh or hip or something."
I..." This was to much to handle. I sat at my office and put my head down.
*************************************
Well, I'm 5 hours into my drive to Louisiana. Only 8 Hours to go. yay.... *sarcasm* Ugh this car ride takes forever, at least the destination makes it all worth it. We're stopping at like 7 or 8 pm eastern. I used my phones WIFI to get this update in. I decided that off the court aside from one little hiccup things have gone a little too smooth for Tony, so I think this year will need to be a rough year for him in the story (but hopefully not on the court) to test his mettle. I'm gonna have a lot of time in the car and at the hotel tonite so I will probably update some more throughout the day.
