        Carter's Chronicles

"Well its back to the grind. My last contracted season with the Mavericks. We've got some new additions to the club this year. Monta " Have it All" Ellis, Jose Calderon, Big Sam Dalembert, DeJuan Blair, Devin Harris and Gal Mekel. We also drafted promising rookies Shane Larkin and Ricky Ledo.

Quite a lot of fresh blood has been injected. Its up to the old timers like, Matrix, Dirk and myself not to get pushed to the back of the queue. Time to stand up and lead this team back into the playoffs. We had a disappointing end to last year missing out on the playoffs, despite a good late run. The West is darn tough again though so it'll be a long tiresome season.

Our in state rivals the Houston Rockets have added that big crybaby Dwight Howard. So on paper anyway they should be even stronger. If Dwight can stop whingeing, and just shut up and play. Man he screwed up last year with the Lakers. I can only imagine how happy the Lakers are to be rid of him. The Magic made the right choice jettisoning him for some good young talent.

The San Antonio Spurs as usual have reloaded and are ready for another crack at a championship ring. I really thought they had the Heats number last year. But alas Timmy, Tony and Manu came up short.

Enough of my chronicles for today. Time to get to practice. 1st games at home against the Hawks. They've replaced Josh Smith with Paul Millsap, which in my view makes them a better team. Time to get focused and ready to contribute..."

          Shaun Livingston Joins the Nets

With the defection of C.J. Watson to the Indiana Pacers, the Brooklyn Nets suddenly found themselves in the market for a reserve point guard.

On Saturday, they filled the void by agreeing to terms with free agent, Shaun Livingston.

Livingston, an eight year NBA veteran who played last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, is expected to join the club on a one-year deal for the veteran’s minimum salary of $1.27 million.

With career averages of 6.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, Livingston is expected to join Deron Williams and Tyshawn Taylor as the primary point guards on the revamped Nets roster that will be coached by first-year head coach Jason Kidd.

Livingston is the latest acquisition for the Nets and will officially sign with the club when the NBA’s signing moratorium is lifted on July 10. He will join former Boston Celtics Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry as well as rookie Mason Plumlee as the most relevant fresh faces who hope to help lead the Nets to the top of the NBA’s Eastern Conference.

Yahoo! Sports first reported the agreement between Livingston and the Nets.

Following. I love this idea, following J-Kidd's transition from hall of fame player to (potentially) the same as a coach. I don't know how it's going to work with the Nets long term (if they struggle the first two years, I expect Kidd to get axed as coaches often take the fall before the players) but we'll see.

Seeing Pierce and KG in anything other than Celtics green is gonna take some getting used to though.
            Any comments are welcome.

Thanks man, like yourself I like to think outside the box with franchise stories. I coach a high school team myself here in Ireland, and still play in a regular league, so I think if he has the bball IQ, years of knowledge and the help of Lawrence Frank etc, he'll do just fine. If it doesnt work i'm sure there will be plenty of teams looking to give him another shot. You never know where this story will lead.

By the way, love your story idea, and glad to see it inspired so many people on here to do their own! I done a story on Pat Ewing Jr 2 years ago, and he actually sent me a message on here to say he really enjoyed reading it. I tweeted him to make sure it was really him, and it was! So you never know what NBA and international bball players are lurking in here and reading!

Thanks man! Yeah, I doubt any NBA player is reading my stuff, but it's cool to know they COULD be. Got to love the world we live in.
