Jim and Jeanie Buss were sitting in the conference room for the Lakers

"I don't know Jeanie, I can't see anyone here that we could hire for our new GM." Jim said tiredly

Jeanie sighed, her and Jim had been looking through files for hours, trying to find a new GM to take over for them, Jim had shown that he didn't know what he was doing and Jeanie was too busy actually keeping the franchise afloat from the ownership side, they needed someone to take over the players and the court.

Jeanie looked through one last file, and saw gold.

"Hey what about this one?" Jeanie asked, handing the folder to Jim.

"Joseph Cox, 24 years old, graduated at 21 from Nevada, spent 2 years managing their basketball team, and 1 year as a assistant head coach in Oakland for the Raiders, he's a scout for the Heat now. What about him? I mean honestly he's got a good background but I wouldn't hire him." Jim said, analyzing the file and the person in it.

"True, but while we search for a good GM next offseason,we hire this guy as an interim GM, and if he does good, we sign him to a big contract, if he doesn't we cut him and we move on, it's a Win-Win for us." Jeanie said

"Alright, hand me a phone please, I'll make the call." Jim said.

Joseph Cox was infact asleep, as it was maybe 9 for California, it was most definitely 12 AM in FLorida. Joseph was sleeping quite peacefully, he had a 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom apartment, he slept alone.


But as fate would have it, basketball never sleeps, and Joe's phone rang

Joe woke up startled for a second, but then came to his senses and picked up his phone.

"Hello?" Joe said

"Yes hello, is this Joseph Cox, scout for the Miami Heat?" a voice asked.

"Yes, who is this?" Joe replied.

"This is Jim Buss, one of the many owners of the Los Angeles Lakers." Jim said

"Oh sorry sir, you kinda caught me at a bad time." Joe replied

"Oh right ****, I forgot the whole time zone thing. Well anyway tell me something kid, do you wanna be GM for the Lakers?" Jim asked

"I-I-I'm sorry sir, did you just ask me to be GM for the Lakers?" Joe asked.

"Yes I did son, Jeanie told me of your impressive background." Jim replied

"Wait Jeanie Buss? Didn't she pose for PlayBoy a while back?" Joe said

"Don't bring that up around here sonny, anyway do you want the job or not." Jim asked pointedly

"Yes sir, I'll pack my things and be up there tomorrow." Joe replied.

"Alright sonny, see you tomorrow." Jim said and Jim hanged up


Joe sighed, he was gonna be a GM for the Lakers.

Joe walked through the main doors of the Staples Center and was amazed, he'd never seen anything like the Lakers stadium, after all he was just a scout, he never went to the games.

He found his office after climbing 2 sets of stairs, he found a secretary's name plate, she wasn't in yet.

the nameplate read "Emma Klacking"

"Hmm, I'll have to meet her when she gets in." Cox noted to himself.

He walked into his office

AN: It looked something like this, except imagine the back wall being in Laker Purple



"Wow." Cox thought.


Wow as correct on Joe's part, it was most definitely a nice office.

"Like the office?" a feminine voice sounded behind Joe

"Yes I do, and who are you?" Joe asked

The girl in question was blonde, about 5'9", green eyes and was extremely pretty, she wore a regular suit with a skirt.

"I'm Emma Klacking your secretary/assistant and trade advisor. Nice to meet you." She said as she stuck out her hand.

Joe took her hand and shook it.

Oh yeah, he was definitely gonna like her

Howard sent to Bobcats for Kidd-Gilchrist




Evidently the Lakers hired a new GM and boy did he make a splash with this one.


The Los Angeles Lakers sent Dwight Howard, who was known for causing trouble amongst the teams he's played for, for rookie Micheal Kidd-Gilchrist.

The Lakers made up for this by signing rookie C Darren Aldridge, who was said to have Dwight Howard comparisons. Minus the attitude of course.



Lakers Send Steve Nash to Dallas



Evidently Steve Nash was also not the missing ingredient as the Lakers sent Nash to the Mavericks for a first round pick and 30 year old Center Chris Kaman, Kaman has a one year contract and will probably play behind Darren Aldridge and John Hill

I got mine of the 18th of June, but I ended up moving to Florida and got here on the 2nd of July, my PVR should be here tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.
