NBA 2k13 New Dynasty: What Team should I be?

Hi. I am planning on doing a new association mode after my last one (see, Cold As Ice: The Tony Winter Story) froze up. I figure I wasn't even that far in anyway, and it was far from reality because it started in I believe March. That was a GM Dynasty, I'm not planning on doing a GM dynasty because this one is likely going to be a fast paced one, and it takes more time to do the storyline. I want to be able to do multiple seasons by october, when I plan on getting NBA 2k14, or december, if I decide to wait for next-gen consoles and get Live/2k. So, with my new association mode, I need to pick my next team. I have a very good offseason roster set, and plan on starting as if we are going into the upcoming season. The other option hinges on whether or not there is a specific type of roster set out there that someone could tell me about. The roster I am looking for is a completed summer league roster, because I could then do an association with the Summer League. IF someone know of such a roster that I can get on 2k Share, then let me now. Until then, I have narrowed it down to 5 teams, and I want you guys, who I am assuming would also be the people that would want to read my dynasty, to choose the team. I also could use 2014/15 draft classes if anyone could help me out with the right set. Typically I play with the simulation sliders and I will continue to do so until I can find a realistic set that I can play with on pro or all star difficulty because I am not great at the game. Anywho, I can work out the details as we go.

    The five team are:
    Boston Celtics
    Atlanta Hawks (again)
    Detroit Pistons
    Phoenix Suns
    San Antonio Spurs

As to why I like each team, I'm gonna briefly describe the Pros and Cons of each team here:

    Boston Celtics:
Pros: Rebuilding Team, has assets, favorite team IRL, Superstar Point Guard Rondo(?), a lot of draft picks.

Cons: Gerald Wallace's and other bad contract, Rondo(?) not right for rebuild potentially, Cap-strapped, lacks direction, where do you go next.

    Atlanta Hawks:
Pros: Plenty of cap space, strong front court, point guard of the future Dennis Schroeder(one of my favorite rookies), plenty of assets

Cons: Not bad enough for Wiggins/Parker, Jeff Teague situation, I've already done it.

    Detroit Pistons:
Pros: Has Talent to be a playoff team now, High ceiling, depth of bench(Billups, Will Bynum, KCP, Tony Mitchell, Charlie V, and depending on the lineup monroe/Drummond, lI like the Draft they had, Brandon Knight is a personal favorite

Cons: Does Josh Smith fit?, floor-spacing, Rodney Stuckey, stuck in the middle, not bad enough for Parker/Wiggins, not a title contender,

    Phoenix Suns:
Pros: Rich Tradition, Eric Bledsoe, Archie Goodwin make a good dynamic backcourt for the future, good pieces, solid team on paper, just a piece or two away

Cons: Too easy, may not need that much help, just need to grow some more and get a superstar.

    San Antonio Spurs:
Pros: Good team now, Old, can usher in new era post-Duncan, Kawhi Leonard, good pieces

Cons: Not a challenge, not a rebuild, more just a re-tool, and a sustenence project, to make difficult I would have to trade Parker, which is unlikely.

I vote the Pistons or the Suns.

The Pistons are a classic franchise that has fallen on really hard times the last seven years or so. They have talent, but no real direction ... the signing of J-smooth is confusing and means Drummond or Monroe is expendable.

The NBA loves bigs so trading either Drummond or Monroe is easy and will fetch a nice piece for the future. Drummond is young and is way more advanced defensively than Monroe, but Monroe has a much better offensive game and though isn't great at defense, he's solid at times (better than Al Jefferson but not by a lot). Either can be developed to make their weaker parts of their game better.

Brandon Knight isn't really a point guard, he's a gunner two man, but if you can make him more efficient from the floor his lack of passing isn't going to be crippling. Finding a long term point guard (not a star, but a solid passer) is a must since the strength of the Pistons is in the front court with Smooth and Drummond/Monroe.

The Suns, though seemingly easier, are going to suffer through at least one season. Dragic and Bledsoe are not going to play together long a Bledsoe is a better point than a shooting guard. Dragic can play shooting guard but is better used at point. Unloading Dragic will be difficult, but not impossible. The team will essentially be Bledsoe, Beasely, Gortat, and Caron Butler. Not the most durable team in existence or the most efficient.

The Suns, playing in a stacked West, will struggle to make the playoffs when they do develop. They're not dark horse candidates and will likely be in the lottery next year. Tanking looks good to them.

If you're looking to take a team to the playoffs this year, than the Pistons are the team to choose. Weaker East, roster with some flexibility and assets. If you're looking for a team to fix up and make into a playoff contender next year, the Suns are it.

    My thoughts.
    Any comments are welcome.

I would go with the celtics. They've got rondo, green, sullinger to try and build around plus all those draft picks. It would be interesting to see what you might could get for rondo and try and really go into tank mode. And if you are going to use rosters with teams as is, they would have Olynk who is another good prospect.

Good points, good points. I'm a huge Celtics Fan, and I think Rondo will get traded in real life. In Tony Winter, I was gonna trade him to the Kings for Tyreke, or trade him the Pacers for Danny Granger. He is one of my favorite players, and I have his jersey, the only basketball jersey I currently own. It would be sad to see him go because to build a team around him woudn't be that difficult. He and Jeff Green are already there, so you trade Avery Bradley for another Athletic wing with Length (like a Jimmy Butler/Kawhi Leonard-type wing) and try to build a team that thrives in transition. If I were to trade him and tank, I could bring in Parker/Wiggins, who would play SG or SF, with green at SF/PF, and play Bradley at the 1. I would need to build the frontcourt though, because Sully is injury prone and has a long way to go, and I was not a fan of Olynyk in the draft.

As for the Suns, I agree it wouldnt be easy, its just easier, and they are a little further along then, say, the Celtics or Hawks, and they aren't stuck in the middle like the Pistons who are mediocre but not outstanding. They are far enough along to develop to the Pistons level in season one, and have enough youth and assets to attract a superstar in free agency. Just Clear a few bad contracts and we're all set to make a run at a star player in the LeBron/melo/Wade free agency. then in year two the team melds a little, and by year three we could be in title discussion.

Pistons, I love the History here, and would love to build on it. They're long overdue for a good season, and delivering it could be quite an interesting process. Brandon Knight, at least in my mind, has the potential to be a good point guard if developed properly. He can score from deep and help space the floor for our bigs, and if he can develop as a passer could be a perfect fit with our front court. And let's not forget Peyton Siva, who could carve out a nice niche as our backup point guard, and maybe push for the job. I like Siva, a lot. and KCP will give us another athletic floor spacer. If we trade one of the bigs, we go from a team that struggles with its spacing to a team that spaces well with its outside shooting.

I want to end this at around 9, and get the first post out of the dynasty by 10, so anyone with sliders and draft classes, make your vote, and let me know

I vote Pistons. You have a solid young core in Drummond, Monroe, and B Knight. You also just picked up a star in J-Smoove if you are using the updated roster which is big. You also will have tradeable assets which is big in building your ideal team

                    lol yes.

I'm kidding. As much as I love the hawks they're a boring team to do storys on. I vote the Celtics.

LOL ok. And I wouldn't say the Hawks are boring. They're a team thats hard to root for nowadays because they build good enough rosters to be mediocre and save themselves from firing, but never good enough for a title. They could use a change. and to bring in a new era, and revive memories of the Dominique Wilkins Era but this time get a ring would be a cool storyline, and I have some new fresh ideas for it as well. I have a great plan for all of these teams, and the Hawks are no different. Also, one of my favorite rookies this year is Dennis Schroeder so to build around him (who is rondo-like so you can see why I like him as a celtics fan) would be fun. I like to run the transition game when I have a point guard who can permit it, and Schroeder can definitely handle that (83 pass, 80 handles, and 94 speed as a rookie in this roster set, 70 OVR). It would be quite a fun challenge for me

Phoenix, especially now with Bledsoe there.

Sucks about the save file on the tony Winter thing, I really enjoyed that.

Alright, I think I'm starting to see what most people want and thats Detroit or Phoenix. Now, I've played with both teams in the last 24 hours and there are positives to both. I think that it will be interesting to see where this goes so I want to make a decision later today. Until then, I would like to see what you think of these teams and how you would go about building them. I hope this dynasty is a little interactive, so give me your thoughts on what moves you think would be good moves and what else you would like to see in this dynasty. I hope to make this go in full force until the next gen consoles, so I should be able to get quite a few seasons in.

some examples of things I would like to here from you guys:

-DET: Greg Monroe or Andre Drummond(or both, if you think we should trade Josh Smith, which is also a possibility)?

-DET: Is Brandon Knight the PG of the future?

-DET: What to do with Rodney Stuckey?

-PHX: who starts at what Guard position (Bledsoe, Goodwin, Dragic, Brown)

-PHX: what to do with Beasley, and the excess guards, and Gortat, etc.?

-Both: How would it be realistic to lure a star into town? What stars, and what players would you like to see drafted and at what spot?

--and on a side-note-- I need sliders for all star difficulty and I need Draft classes for 14/15. after that I will use fictional classes (which I will also need)

Keep Drummond, and whichever you can actually get to hit a jumper out of Monroe and Smith stays.

-DET: Is Brandon Knight the PG of the future?
                            No, SG or 6th man.

-DET: What to do with Rodney Stuckey?
Let his contract run out, unless he can be involved in a trade, but I wouldn't make trading him a priority.

-PHX: who starts at what Guard position (Bledsoe, Goodwin, Dragic, Brown)
Bledsoe & Brown, trade Dragic, give Marshall and Goodwin time at backup PG & SG.

-PHX: what to do with Beasley, and the excess guards, and Gortat, etc.?
Either look for someone to bite on Bealey(no one in their right mind) or let his contract run out. Trade Dragic. Kepp Gortat, start him 1st half of the season, then have him back up Len.

-Both: How would it be realistic to lure a star into town? What stars, and what players would you like to see drafted and at what spot?
Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker or Julius Randle, as I can't think of a realistic way of getting a star.

--and on a side-note-- I need sliders for all star difficulty and I need Draft classes for 14/15. after that I will use fictional classes (which I will also need)
Turty11(PS3)'s got a great 2014 class and he was gonna work on a '15 but I'm not sure if he did or not, and then he's also got 2 good fictional classes.

If I was picking between those 2 teams I would go with Detroit. I'd try and trade one of the two big men for a young pg. Stuckey would not be a part of my future. Drummond and stuckey for rondo, possibly? I have heard small rumblings of that trade scenario in real life.

I would try and make Brandon knight more of a scoring guard. Maybe start billups at the 2 like he did in LAC some so he could help knight share the distributing responsibilities. If u wanted to start KCP, I would try and bring knight off the bench as 6th man.

                              Just some thoughts.
