NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs Round One: New York Knicks vs. Miami Heat

[I played most of the game, then the CPU starting cheesing and I simmed it.]

The Heat put down the defending champion Knicks in 7 games, earning revenge for last season. Yet the Heat were again eliminated in the playoffs, this time in the quarter-finals by the Chicago Bulls in six games.

    The Off-Season Begins:

Retirements: The NBA won't be the same ever again.

    Grant Hill retires.

    Kevin Garnett retires.

    Ray Allen retires.

    Steve Nash retires.

    Vince Carter retires.

**Italicized: denotes Hall of Fame induction

Many are shocked Grant Hill did not make the Hall of Fame.

The Oklahoma City Thunder defeat the Chicago Bulls in 7 games to win the NBA Finals; Durant MVP.

New Head Coaches: the following teams hired new head coaches.

    Charlotte Bobcats
    Milwaukee Bucks
    Boston Celtics
    New York Knicks
    Sacramento Kings
    Utah Jazz
    New Orleans Hornets
    Atlanta Hawks
    Memphis Grizzlies
    Washington Wizards
    Portland Trailblazers
    Phoenix Suns
    Toronto Raptors
    Detroit Pistons
    Indiana Pacers
    Denver Nuggets
    Brooklyn Nets
    Orlando Magic

That's a shocking 60% of the league, with new head coaches.

The Miami Heat resign Erik Spoelstra to a one year deal

The Heat have been eliminated in back to back seasons in the playoffs when they are expected to make, if not win, the Finals. The team GM, Pat Riley, had the following to say.

"This team is Finals-quality, Finals-caliber. Somebody tell me why, then, the Heat have not made the Finals in two seasons?" Riley was visibly frustrated.

Spoelstra also commented: "If the Heat do not make the Finals next season, I am stepping down as head coach."

Spoelstra may not need to step down. His new contract is only for one year, and GM Pat Riley clearly is frustrated. For the Heat, it is Finals or bust.

BREAKING NEWS: LEBRON JAMES AND CHRIS BOSH DECLINE PLAYER OPTIONS, ENTER FREE AGENCY

Breaking News! It is the end of an era in Miami. The big three is no more.Former league MVP and scoring title winner LeBron James has declined his player option, and will enter free agency.

"Last season, after the Knicks eliminated us in the playoffs, I was furious. I wanted to win the Finals. This past season, after we beat the Knicks but lost to the Bulls, I knew I was done. It's time to move on. It's the best decision for me to start over with a better team." James said.

Chris Bosh will also enter free agency.

"I'm not getting any younger, and I feel like I could do better in a different system." Bosh commented.

Somewhat luckily for the Heat, Dwayne Wade accepted his player option and will stay with the team.

"Why am I staying? I watched as LeBron and Chris left. I saw an opportunity. Win, lose or draw, this is my chance to become a true star. I was always living in LeBron's shadow, as well as I played. This team needs me." Wade said.

In another breaking story, Carmelo Anthony will leave the Knicks and enter free agency.

The Heat just might be in rebuilding mode, as they will have to replace LeBron James and Chris Bosh. Miami is also letting Shane Battier and James Jones, both aging, walk away.

    Team needs entering the draft:

The Heat must replace LeBron James and Chris Bosh, and have a strong need at small forward. The team also has a strong need at center.

Jabari Parker expected to be selected first overall.

        Re: Dynast3 : A Miami Heat Association (2K13)

The Heat have to replace LeBron James and Chris Bosh, among other needs. Miami still needs a power forward and center.

Contract Offers: The Heat have offered contracts to the following:

        LeBron James
        Jonas Jerebko
        Marcin Gortat

The following players have signed with the Miami Heat:

        Lebron James
        Jonas Jerebko
        Anderson Varejao
        Timofey Mozgov

Marcin Gortat decided to stay with the Suns.

The Heat bolstered their center position by signing veteran Varejao and younger option Mozgov.

Miami Fans, Rejoice: King James Returns

In a shocking change of events, LeBron James accepts the Heat's contract offer.

"I reacted brashly when I declined my player option. I was mad about getting eliminated in the playoffs, but I realized, of the teams showing interest, Miami gave me the best chance at a championship. So I'm back." LeBron said.

The Heat should be very happy, as without LeBron, their odds of making the finals are quite low. As we learned earlier this off-season, if the Heat do not make the Finals, Erik Spoelstra will be step down as head coach/be fired.

        Other Big Signings:

The Phoenix Suns sign Carmelo Anthony

Chris Bosh signs with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
        Ravens: In Ozzie We Trust
