    Cavaliers GM Dynasty

OK guys, so I started this because I was going to play a season of my GM with the Cavs, but I literally could not win. I started 0-6 and got so depressed that I have to sim the season to do a draft and make the team more to my liking. Here I will update you with the moves made as the season is simmed and all of that.

    Moves Made:

    Cavaliers trade: Alonzo Gee
Timberwolves trade: J.J. Barea, '15 2nd round pick.
Rationale: Originally I wanted to shed Gee's salary, but when the Wolves offered this trade I was suckered in. Barea is one of my favorite players, so I took on his even worse contract, but hey, I got a crappy second round pick too!

Cavaliers trade: C.J. Miles, Matthew Dellavedova
Knicks trade: Shannon Brown, Jeremy Tyler
Rationale: Again, this was another stupid trade I made when I was still playing and losing. I wanted to shed Miles's contract because I had a log jam of shooters (I had just signed Ben Gordon) and wanted someone else. Of course I jumped on Shannon Brown because he's super athletic and a good shooter.

Cavaliers trade: Shannon Brown, '15 2nd round pick.
Timberwolves trade: Kenyon Martin, '14 1st round pick.
Rationale: I know this move is unrealistic. Trading Shannon brown two days after I got him. I understand that. However I hated his release, everything was getting blocked and I quickly realized I needed some beef down low because no one was big enough down there. We were soft. That's why I brought in Martin. Plus the Wolves threw in a first round pick to sweeten the deal which was nice.

Cavaliers trade: Spencer Hawes, '15 1st round pick.
Pacers trade: Evan Turner, '14 1st round pick.
Rationale: I really, really didn't want to make this trade. Hawes's potential really intrigued me but I had to let him go. The reason is I found I had no back up SF behind Luol Deng. Ben Gordon would get subbed in there and get abused. Thus I had to get someone else. Turner's all around ability intrigued me and I decided to pull the trigger.

    Cavaliers trade: J.J. Barea
Timberwolves trade: Jeff Taylor, '14 2nd round pick.
Rationale: As much as I love Barea, this was a cap saving move. The team is going nowhere and will need the money for free agency.

    Cavaliers trade: Jarrett Jack
Spurs trade: Boris Diaw, '14 1st round pick, '15 1st round pick.
Rationale: This move really hurt to make too. Jack is great, but I cannot have that much money on my cap for a back up point guard. This way I cut salary and get first round picks (albeit probably low 20s) but still, it saves cap room. Jack will be missed.

    Free Agency Re-Signings

    Loul Deng, SF No Offer
Rationale: Great on defense, but is very one deminisional and disappeared constantly on offense. When he requested a 4 year, $32.71M deal, it was easy to let him go.

    Evan Turner, SF No Offer
Rationale: He wasn't happy with the Cavs and wanted to test FA.

    Ben Gordon, SG No Offer
Rationale: He wasn't happy with the Cavs and wanted to test FA as well.

    Anderson Varejao, C 2 year, $6.41M Offer
Rationale: He's no longer a top center, but he's still a great rebounder and may help convince LeBron to come back to Cleveland.

        Free Agency Signings

        LeBron James, SF: 4yrs, $88.57M
Rationale: Obviously this is the dream scenario come true right here. LeBron wanted to go back to Cleveland after feeling like he had a poor way of leaving. Plus, now with talent he never had around him in Cleveland in the likes of a superstar like Kyrie Irving, a solid scorer in Dion Waiters and his old teammate Anderson Varejao, there was a lot to like on this team before the draft. Then, after nabbing possible future all-stars like Julius Randle and Marcus Smart as well as solid contributers in Elfrid Payton and Jerami Grant, LeBron clearly thought there was a future here and a great place to chase a few more rings.

        Robin Lopez, C: 2yrs, $6.40M
Rationale: This is the definition of a value signing. Lopez is by no means a dominant center, but he has above average low post defense and has a decent low post offensive game as well. Beyond his defensive prowess he is a great offensive rebounder and should ease the drop off in talent once Varejao needs a break.
