    BREAKING NEWS: OCTOBER 25, 2016
    • Celtics trade Mike Muscala to 76ers for Brett Hamilton, '17 2nd Round pick via PHI
    • Celtics re-sign Kelly Olynyk for 3 years/$21.00m

Ainge: We would like to thank Mike Muscala for his time here in Boston, and wish him the best of luck in his future. We just had too many big men to keep them all happy, so we decided to go another direction. Brett Hamilton will be a developmental player for now, we will see what his future holds.

We are excited to be bringing back Kelly for another 3 years. He has been a great player off the bench for use, who can score great and step up big time when needed.

    OCTOBER RECAP:
Boston goes 3-0 in the month of October to begin the new season, bringing their record to 3-0. Boston is 1st in the Atlantic Division, T-1st in the Eastern Conference, and 3rd in the Power Rankings. Through 3 games, Boston is averaging 107.3 PGG, and giving up 98.7 PPG.

Forsberg: Awesome for Boston to start out 3-0, that's exactly what this young team needed. Not much to say yet because this is such a small sample size. However, I think the playoffs is a realistic goal for this team this year. We'll see, but after October, I'm excited to see what the rest of the season has in store!
    • October 26th - Boston 121, Washington 101
    • October 29th - Boston 104, Orlando 99
    • October 30th - Boston 97, Charlotte 96

    OCTOBER LEAGUE NEWS:

    • Chandler Parsons re-signs with Dallas for 3 years/$26.92m

      NOVEMBER RECAP:
Boston goes 10-6 in the month of November, bringing their record to 13-6. Boston is 1st in the Atlantic Division, 3rd in the Eastern Conference, and 2rd in the Power Rankings. Through 19 games, Boston is averaging 105.4 PGG, and giving up 96.6 PPG.

Forsberg: November was a good month for Boston. This young team is starting to come together. It seems like the past season’s experience, plus the addition of veteran Tyson Chandler is really helping this team start off strong. The team has shown flashes of greatness, but also some flashes of last season’s play. Hopefully Boston can be consistent going forward, but that playoffs goal Danny Ainge set during the offseason seems like a pretty good possibility right now. All of this play came with Dion Waiters missing 1 game and being limited in about 7 games with back spasms, so some bench production was lost. Of course, time will tell, but I’m really liking the play I’m seeing from Boston so far this year.

Ty Lawson-- DID NOT PLAY --

Forsberg: Wow, this was a fantastic game. Boston dominated on both offense and defense from the beginning. It was a wire-to-wire win for Boston, and it was a great way to end the month of November. Boston really took advantage of Ty Lawson being out, and without him, Denver’s offense was just flat and stagnant. I guess you could also blame the game on poor shooting by Denver, but I’m looking at the positives for Boston! The score probably could have been even worse, but the reserves, yes the reserves not the bench, played the whole 4th quarter. And the reserves STILL outscored Denver 26-25 in that quarter. The stats that really stand out to me are: 55% FG, 50% 3PT, 55 REB, 31 AST, and only 8 turnovers. Once again, that’s a winning stat line if I’ve ever seen one. Boston dominated the glass, and more than half of the baskets scored came off of assists. This was a great way to end the month of November, and it should really help the team make a solid transition into December.

Now, for some unrelated news. Rumors have it that Ainge is openly shopping Shabazz Muhammad heading into the middle of the season. He really hasn’t been producing as much as Ainge would like, and he’s on an expiring contract. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ainge trade him if the right offer comes across his desk. It looks like Muhammad’s inglorious run with the Celtics is coming to an end. If Ainge can’t get another viable SF in a potential trade, look for Boone to move down to SF and Waiters to take the starting SG position. That way, Ainge can replace Muhammad with a PG/SG bench player, and free up extra minutes for James Young.

One last note: with Brad Stevens now being fired from Denver and Boston, it looks like Danny Ainge made the right call in going with Tom Thibodeau. You can’t help but wonder how much of a future Stevens has left in the NBA.
