    The Career Track Experiment

The "Career Track Experiment" is something I've been wanting to do. It is essentially an idea where I would track a player who goes in the top 5 throughout his whole career until he retires. So in this, I'm tracking whichever players get picked in the Top 5 and only the top 5. If a player drops to the 6th pick, then I won't track him, just to keep things clear and not confusing for myself as well.

October 28th, season opening Mock Draft analysis. There will be 5 Mock Draft analysis throughout the season

Draft Express Top 5 picks on the opening day mock draft:
    1. John Wilcox, PG, Kansas State. 20 years old.
    2. Lucas Maxwell, C, North Carolina State. 21 years old.
    3. Rickey Frazier, PF, DePaul. 22 years old.
    4. Ervin Moody, C, Northwestern. 22 years old.
    5. Itsi Szerb, PF, Hungary, 19 years old.

2K Top 5 picks on the opening day mock draft:
    1. John Wilcox, PG, Kansas State. 20 years old.
    2. Lucas Maxwell, C, North Carolina State. 21 years old.
    3. Rickey Frazier, PF, DePaul. 22 years old.
    4. Stewart Clarke, SG, England. 21 years old.
    5. Earl Sampson, SF, Arizona, 22 years old.

NBA.Com Top 5 picks on the opening day mock draft:
    1. John Wilcox, PG, Kansas State. 20 years old.
    2. Lucas Maxwell, C, North Carolina State. 21 years old.
    3. Rickey Frazier, PF, DePaul. 22 years old.
    4. Itsi Szerb, PF, Hungary, 19 years old.
    5. Stewart Clarke, SG, England. 21 years old.

John Wilcox (PG, Kansas State), is the consensus #1 overall in the 2015 NBA draft. This being the opening day mock draft analysis there is a high chance for movement on the draft board, but at this time, the 6'0 point guard is #1 on all 3 draft boards.

Lucas Maxwell (C, North Carolina State) is the consensus #2 overall pick. At 6'11, Maxwell is a prospect that is hard to miss, his length combined with his ability to run the floor and athleticism make for a very interesting prospect. Number 2 on all the draft boards currently.

Ricky Frazier (PF, DePaul), is the consensus #3 overall pick. This year Frazier is going into his senior year at DePaul and experience at the college level is always something scouts look for when wanting to draft a dependable and well developed big. Number 3 on all the draft boards.

Ervin Moody (C, Northwestern), only shows up on one draft board, that being the Draft Xpress board. A true 7 footer, Ervin is also going into his senior year and he is attracting a lot of scouts to his games, however his limited mobility may effect him in the NBA. Ervin Moody drops as low as #7 on current draft boards, his stock is truly in the air.

Itsi Szerb (PF, Hungary), is one of the more interesting prospects in the draft. Only 19 years old, Szerb has a well developed post-game, as well as the ability to grab boards frequently around the rim. Szerb shows up on the NBA.com draft board as well as the Draft Xpress board. Szerb is currently listed as going as high as #4 and as low as #6.

Stewart Clarke (SG, England), the other international prospect from England, Clarke, has an innate ability to create his own shot. At 6'6, he is a tall shooting guard that can contribute to an offense immediately. Clarke is seen going as high as #4 and as low as #8.

Earl Sampson (SF, Arizona), Sampson, showing up on only one draft board seems to be another "safe" pick at 22 years old. Sampson is the only forward who is found in the top 5, however he too falls as low as #7.

There are going to be a lot of movers in this years draft as indicated by the mock drafts.

    3. Rickey Frazier, PF, DePaul. 22 years old.
    4. John Wilcox, PG, Kansas State. 20 years old. (-3)
    5. Stewart Clarke, SG, England. 21 years old. (-1)

    NBA.Com Top 5 Picks: January 1st, 2015.
    1. Stewart Clarke, SG, England. 21 years old. (+4)
    2. Earl Sampson, SF, Arizona, 22 years old. (New Entry on NBA.com board)
    3. Rickey Frazier, PF, DePaul. 22 years old.
    4. John Wilcox, PG, Kansas State. 20 years old. (-3)
    5. Donell Carney, SG, Gonzaga. 22 years old. (New Entry on NBA.com board)

    The Stats:
John Wilcox Kansas State, Point Guard:
    14.6ppg, 3.3 rpg, 4.8apg
John Wilcox started as the #1 overall pick on all draft boards at the beginning of the season, now into the new year and 14 games into the college season, Wilcox has dropped 2-3 spots in each draft board. Putting up somewhat underwhelming numbers for Kansas State, Wilcox remains in the top 5 currently, however scouts believe he is not worth of being #1 overall at this time.
Teams who may draft Wilcox include:
    Pelicans, 76ers
    As High as: #3
    As Low as: #4

Lucas Maxwell C, North Carolina State:
    18.6ppg, 9.9rpg, 3.6bpg
Lucas Maxwell is still #2 on a couple draft boards and completely dropped out the top 5 on the NBA.com board. Averaging nearly a double double along with 3.6 blocks per game, Maxwell continues to impress most scouts. He is slotted at #2 currently on the Draft Express and the 2K draft boards.
Teams who may draft Maxwell include:
    Nets, Hawks.
    As High as: #2
    As Low as: #6

    Rickey Frazier PF, DePaul:
    21.7ppg, 9.7rpg, 2.7bpg
Rickey Frazier jumped up to being the #1 overall pick on the Draft Express Mock draft and there is plenty reasons why, including the huge numbers he is putting up at DePaul. Frazier stood still on the 2K and NBA.com boards sitting at #3 on both of those. Frazier continues to be the type of prospect who will have an immediate impact once on an NBA team.
Teams who may select Frazier include:
    Lakers, Suns, 76ers
    As High as: #1
    As Low as: #3

    Stewart Clarke SG, England:
    20.1ppg, 3.4rpg, 4.3apg
Clarke somehow managed to move all the way up to the #1 pick on the NBA.com draft board. Beating out prospects like Wilcox and Frazier. Clarke is all over the draft boards, as he has appread for the first time as the #5 pick on the Draft Express board and dropping one spot to #5 on the 2K board. A shooing guard from England, Clarke is putting up 20.0ppg in international play.
Teams who may select Clarke include:
    Lakers, Suns,
    As High as: #1
    As Low as: #5

    Itsi Szerb PF, Hungary:
    23.8ppg, 9.6rpg, 2.8bpg
Probably the most dominant prospect so far, Itsi is seen dropping as low as #8 on the NBA.com board and #1 on the 2K board. Another international prospect with the potential to go as #1, Szerb is averaging almost 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds per game.
Teams who many select Szerb include:
    Wizards, Lakers, Suns
    As high as: #1
    As Low as: #8

    Donell Carney SG, Gonzaga:
    18.0ppg, 4.9rpg, 2.8apg
Donell Carney found himself in the top 5 for the NBA.com mock draft board. Carney is putting up 18 and 5 for Gonzaga and he is also a senior. Carney is found as low as #15 on the Draft Express boards, so his stock is easily the most vulnerable for huge gains and drops.
Teams who may select Carney include:
    Celtics, Hornets, Suns
    As High as: #5
    As Low as: #15
