            18-19 BIG SKY OVERVIEW

            CONFERENCE WINNER: Northern Colorado

Northern Colorado is by far the best team in this conference and to prove it they’re currently sitting on a 11-2 record with tops wins over Texas A&M, Colorado State, and Butler who they handed their only loss to.

            Justifying the ranking:
Head coach B.J. Hill enjoys a great deal of players who are able to get the ball in the hoop. If one player is off it seems like he can always depend on another one to step up. During the off-season he brought in a four star recruit in Kris Wells – he’s been a great success for the Bears which has led him into robbing sophomore Tyler Manilow out of his starting duties.

There’s still no secret that senior Branford Jones is this teams best player, if not the best in the conference. While he’s been inconsistent from time to time – Jones is an elite scorer who can hurt a team inside and outside. A big take-away for Northern Colorado is the loss of their starting center, Herbie Bruff, who recently broke his wrist and is not expected to return until a couple of weeks.

N COLORADO; SEASON THREE - EPISODE TWO

Two consecutive losses to kick off conference play made the players sure that they’d be seeing an entirely new Coach B.J. Hill at their morning practice the next day.

From an easy eye, Coach Hill still hadn’t recovered from the fact that his team who was believed to be amongst the elite mid-majors, had just dropped two straight losses to lesser conference teams. Hill made things obvious when he opened the practice with a long aggravated speech then an order for his player to run non-stop suicides for the next ten minutes, he remarks that it would be longer but they’ve got a game against Montana State tomorrow.

We overhear Hill mumble to his assistants saying, “Got kids on this team crying about playing time on [explicit] social media then when they get their opportunity they play like they’ve got no [explicit] sense.” B.J. shakes his head, most likely speaking of Wyatt Ervin who tweeted about his playing time weeks ago.

We got the opportunity to speak with some of the assistants; Coach Hill’s frustration made him off-limits, “Just a poor, poor, poor performance from us over those past two games,” Shawn Ellis states. “I was scheduled to attend a couple of our recruits games in the upcoming days but if we’re struggling like this then that’s not even going to be possible. This is unacceptable, gotta feel for B.J..”

Herbie Bruff, a considerable team leader, absence has been sought of to be the reason upon these two losses.

Bruff sat out on the sidelines and when we met with him he said, “It’s tough to see the team struggle, I don’t know what triggered this – I know I’m out and all but we’ve never played this bad. I really wish I could be on the floor with my team, those two games are just a minor setback though, I know we’ll come crashing back.”

Hill allowed no players to speak with our staff throughout the duration of the practice. He closed the practice speaking of the starting lineups; he wasn’t sure if he’d make adjustments or not.
