Welcome to my Brooklyn Nets MyGM Series!

In this series I will be taking over the Brooklyn Nets in NBA 2K16's MyGM and broadcasting/sharing all of the latest developments on YouTube. I look forward to the feedback that all of you will provide and to taking Brooklyn to a place where it has never been before.

Introduction

I have been a Brooklyn Nets fan since the 2004-05 season. I started following the Nets every single day/night after Vince Carter was acquired from the Toronto Raptors. Even in the glory days of the Big Three of Kidd, Carter and Jefferson the Nets were never able to break through and become true contenders.

Fast forward to the move to Brooklyn; I continue to follow the team and after the acquisition of Garnett and Pierce it seemed like this team was headed to accomplish big things. Boy were we all wrong... The Nets now face a challenging future with limited draft picks, no major young talent outside of Brook Lopez and a tons of expiring contracts. This team has an outside chance this season to make the Playoffs and avoid giving the Celtics a lottery pick, but it will not be easy.

As the season progresses we will need to evaluate our team every step of the way and try to remain competitive while at the same time thinking about building a contender sooner rather than later. Brooklyn fans much like other large market fans do not have the patience to sit around and root for a rebuilding team, so how quickly can I turn this team around and take them to the promised land?

- 2015-16 Season: I will play 1 game and sim 4. 16 games will be played by me, the rest will be simmed.

- 2016-17 Season and on...: I will play 2 games and sim 3. 32 games will be played by me, the rest will be simmed.

2015-16 Season

Trades

- Traded Jarret Jack and the Boston Celtics 2017 2nd Round Pick to the Golden State Warriors for Jason Thompson and the Warriors 2016 1st Round Pick.
- Traded Thaddeus Young and Sergey Karasev to the Houston Rockets for Ty Lawson and Terrence Jones.

Free Agents

- No Free Agents were signed / added to the team in the 2015-16 Regular Season.

2015-16 Season Recap

The 2015-16 Brooklyn Nets finished the season with a 33-49 record, which was not good enough to make the Playoffs. As a result our 2016 1st Round Pick ended up being a lottery pick and goes to the Boston Celtics (pick traded as part of the Garnett and Pierce trade).

2016 Off-Season

Staff Changes

- The Brooklyn Nets fired head coach Lionel Hollins.

- The Brooklyn Nets hired Monty Williams to replace Lionel Hollins as head coach.

- The Brooklyn Nets hired Vince Carter as an Assistant Coach.

Trades

- No traded were completed in the 2016 off-season.

2016 NBA Draft

The Brooklyn Nets owned the 25th pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. The pick was acquired in the Jarret Jack trade to the Golden State Warriors.

- With the 25th pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, the Brooklyn Nets selected PF Cheick Diallo out of Kansas.

Free Agency

The Brooklyn Nets entered the 2016 Free Agency period with a ton of cap space and only four players under contract - Brook Lopez, Bojan Bogdanovic, Rondae-Hollis Jefferson and Chris McCullough.

The free agency period will give the Nets the opportunity to sign some quality players to build around for the next few years and to finally get over the hump after some poor choices were made by the previous management team, such as the Garnett and Pierce trade which put at risk the future of this franchise for yeas to come.

- The Brooklyn Nets signed Dwight Howard to a 3 year $75,000,000 deal.
The deal also has a 4th year team option, which could make the deal a 4 year $100,000 deal.
- The Brooklyn Nets signed Demar DeRozan to a 3 year $55,000,000 deal.
- The Brooklyn Nets signed Brandon Jennings to a 3 year $33,000,000 deal.
- The Brooklyn Nets signed Luol Deng to a 3 year 26,000,000 deal.
- The Brooklyn Nets re-signed Thomas Robinson to a 2 year $8,500,000 deal.
- The Brooklyn Nets signed Sim Bhullar to a 1 year $1,900,000 deal.
- The Brooklyn Nets signed Seth Curry to a 1 year $1,000,000 deal.
- The Brooklyn Nets signed Sebastian Telfair to a 1 year $593,000 deal.
- The Brooklyn Nets signed Vander Blue to a 1 year $593,000 deal.

2016-17 Season

Trades

- The Brooklyn Nets traded Luol Deng, Thomas Robinson, Sin Bhullar and Bojan Bogdanovic to the New Orleans Pelicans for Wesley Matthews, Ryan Anderson and the Pelicans 2018 1st Round Pick.

- The Brooklyn Nets traded Chris McCullogh and Vander Blue to the Dallas Mavericks for JaVale McGee and Salah Mejri, who was immediately waived.

Free Agents

- The Brooklyn Nets signed Richard Jefferson to a 1 year $593,000 deal. This signing was needed since Luol Deng and Bojan Bogdanovic went down with injuries early in the season.
