This Ought To Be Good
Playoffs Headed for Clash of Titans
As the "great" Terrell Owens says, get your popcorn ready.
The NBA playoffs are once again heading towards "all time classic" territory. The foundations were there as the regular season ended: record-tying Golden State looking for a second consecutive title; Canada's team with a legitimate shot, not to mention home court advantage; a good mix of new blood (Detroit, Sacramento, etc) and old blood (San Antonio, Cleveland). With the end of the conference quarterfinals came more building blocks: the 7th-seeded Clippers shocked the 2nd-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in a Game 7; the Portland Trail Blazers stole a game from a team that was nearly 30 wins better; newcomers Detroit continued their incredible season with a convincing win over the playoff-tested Atlanta Hawks.
We're just getting started.
Eastern Conference:
All quiet on the Cleveland front—in the series that, surprisingly (LeBron James spotlight much?), has gotten the least attention of any conference semi final this year. The Cavaliers romped past the Heat in a series that was supposed to be a duel, a titanic clash, a future versus present saga. Sure, James didn't get a ton of love in the first game in Miami, Game 3, but that was the most drama this series produced over the course of its four games. Despite more-than-solid performance from Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade, the Cavaliers showed just how good their trio is in playoff play. Cleveland is 12-1 (that's two series sweeps and one 4-1 win) in playoff games where the Big 3 has played. That doesn't bode well for any team not named the Cavaliers.
Up north, it's much more complicated. We expected a tough, defensive series, and we've more than gotten one. Toronto and Detroit have fought tooth and nail for superiority, but neither has earned it. Kyle Lowry has led the Raptors with his consistency, and more importantly, his 21 points per game in a series where Toronto hasn't had the easiest time scoring points. For the Pistons, the dynamic duo of Reggie Jackson (series-high 31 points to lead Detroit to a win in game 3) and Andre Drummond (averaging well over 10 RPG) has kept the rudder steady. The key number here? 89. That's how many points the losing team has been held to in 3 of the 4 games (the other entered OT tied 100-100).
Western Conference:
As previously noted, the Clippers play a lot of game 7s. They'll need to make it to another one if they want to stay alive in their current series; Los Angeles' finest find themselves down 3-1 to San Antonio, the squad they topped in the first round last year. It might take more than luck for the Clippers; the steady, steady Spurs have played—well, Spurs basketball throughout the series, and Mr. Fundamentals looks spry as ever. With team unity issues and the dark cloud of uncertain futures with the team hanging over players' heads, the Clippers should just be happy they stunned Oklahoma City the way they did. They're certainly the worst team remaining in the West, but with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin playing their hearts out, there's always a chance.
Tune in at 10:15 EST to watch elimination Game 5 on twitch at SimWorldGaming.
Fallible is the watchword for the Rockets-Warriors series. Last year's conference final matchup finished 4-1 in favour of Golden State. This year could turn out no different: most players are, after all, just one year older. Everyone is looking to see whether the Warriors will fail, whether they can fail, who can make them fail. It hasn't looked like the Rockets are up to the task, though. Aside from their upset in Game 1, Houston has looked unsteady and feeble against a clearly overpowering Warriors' attack. It's only a matter of time in this series; the only thing that remains to be seen is whether that time is the only time left for the Big 2 of Howard and Harden.Comment

Spurs Hang On To Beat Clippers
Once again, the Spurs are moving on. They earned the series win with a win they didn't really earn. Chris Paul? 2-13 for 4 points. Blake Griffin? 33 points, but on 27 attempts... and he missed the game-tying shot, a lay-in really, with 3.4 seconds left. And missed both free throws with just over a minute remaining after Tim Duncan fouled out. His counterpart, LaMarcus Aldridge, won Player of the Game for his 23 points, 13 rebounds, and big blocks. It doesn't matter how you do it; it just matters whether you do it. The Spurs did, the Clippers didn't.
The Rockets face a similar deficit, down 3-1 to the Warriors as the teams tip off at Oracle Arena in Game 5, streamed on SimWorldGaming at 1 pm EST.Last edited by AdamJones113; 02-21-2016, 12:45 PM.Comment

After that 6 block defensive showcase in Game 4, can someone check Tim Duncan’s relatives’ recent deliveries? I feel like ol’ Timmy got a hold of Ray Lewis’ Amazon account. #JUSTKIDDING
So Steph won his 2nd MVP award? Two straight? Wow, guess a lot of “experts” are kicking themselves right now. Small ball doesn’t work, eh?
Speaking of Canada, what’s with Drake right now? Have you seen those goofy sunglasses he was sporting during Game 2? Looked like he was wearing an Oculus headset.
To anyone wondering why we disappeared for a sec, sorry Markieff! We here at Hoopshype promise we will never report on you again. Ever. *pinkie swear*
Good news, Grizz fans! We caught up with Marc Gasol, and he says the boot comes off his right foot this week, and he will begin rehab soon. Can’t wait to see the Big Spanish… you know, I have no good nickname…
* “Aint no Grave” begins to play * OH! OH MY GOD! THAT’S RASHARD LEWIS’ MUSIC! WHAT’S HE DOING HERE?!?!SimWorld - #SimWorldDwellertwitch: twitch.tv/simworldgaming --- youtube: simworldtv --- instagram: @simworld4k ----- twitter: @TheEmanHTX ----- @simworld4k
