      The King Dethroned

The city of Cleveland forgave Lebron James after his decision when he returned "home" in hopes that he would once again lead them out of the lottery and back to the NBA finals. So now we have had two consecutive finals appearances for King James and Co. but the results left much to be desired.

"This year was supposed to be different" uttered a somber Kyrie in a post game interview. "We fought all year to get to this point only to be swept, there needs to be some changes around here."

Changes?! Yes there needs to be some change... but where? Lebron James; the face of the franchise had a golden opportunity to show the Cleveland faithful that he has changed as a player [from the way many percieved his final performance before leaving Cleveland for Miami] but it was not to be.

After two pretty solid outings in Oakland, King James put on the biggest disappearing act of his career. In Game 3 he was thoroughly outplayed by Andre Igoudala and Harrison Barnes. He tallied only for 8 pts on 3-12 shooting including 0-4 from downtown, coupled with three turnovers. The Cavs [Tyronne Lue's] lack of halftime adjustments led to a 37-20 3rd quarter that cemented that contest.

In Game 4 the Cavs showed up for a fight led by Kyrie Irving's 28 pts and 5 dimes. The game was a back and forth affair all game long and it seemed like Cleveland wanted to make the series a little longer than the nay sayers had hoped for. J.R. Smith hit two consecutive threes from the left corner to knot the game at 94. After Iggy hit a tough contested jumper over Kevin Love to go up one; that again set the stage for a potential Bronny game winner. 6 seconds... Lebron makes his move and loses Klay on the drive only to miss at the rim... GAME. SET. MATCH!

This loss is probably the most damaging to Lebron's legacy thus far. Last season there was no Kevin Love which allowed room for excuse. This year he did not get it done... with his full arsenal. This year might be the reason why this team get dismantled in this upcoming offseason. Only time will tell...

Oh... and by the way. Congratulations to the 2015-16 NBA Champions. The Golden State Warriors.

I'm curious to see what happens with Lebron in the offseason.

Actually I'm curious to see Kyrie's attitude in the off season. Something tells me from his comments lately he's not to happy.

              WARRIORS MAKE CHAMPIONS

              by Sekou Smith

The best team ever? This living, breathing deluge of long-range shooting, ball movement and chemistry could be on the verge of making traditionalists cringe. Making the naysayers say… yes. Making everyone accept that there is officially a new way to build a dynasty… yes I said dynasty.

Yes, these Warriors are almost incomprehensibly good. They ran up the longest season-opening winning streak in NBA history, and Stephen Curry has been the most accurate high-volume shooter we've ever seen. Oh did I mention a season that tied the best regular season in history [Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls]?
Everything that they did last year in a year that many said was one only due to schedule and absent players in their opponents’ lineups; they did it again this season. But this time they did it better AND did it with the full awareness and attention of every team in the league in their way.

They host the NBA’s two-time MVP & what many are calling the greatest shooter to ever step foot on an NBA hardwood (sorry Reggie, Ray & Larry… I’m just the messenger). His “brother” that [in my opinion] would be in that same conversation if he were not playing with Steph.

They employ what has to be the perfect specialist yet “jack of all trades” for their group in Draymond Green and then a slew of “others” that would be major minute men on another team.

There are a LOT of variables here but one thing is constant. Steve Kerr has his team at one and that one objective is winning. They seem to have a synergy that we’ve only seen from the early Celtic dynasties. They have at least one more year with their core but I honestly can’t see ANYONE wanting to leave this environment.
I’ll go on record as saying that I was never a big fan of their play style but I have always been a fan of commitment which this entire organization has. More importantly; I am a fan of overcoming power and the Warriors asked us to believe just a few years back… well I’m almost there. Congratulations to the Golden State Warriors… OUR 2016 NBA Champions.

Welcome, welcome, one and all! Gather 'round and prepare to have your minds bent, your convictions questioned, and your pockets picked!
From the most astounding sports columnist on the Web today, it is time for the debut of my brand new column, just in time for the NBA Finals to begin!!
(Aside: Oh.. it did? Uh huh... they lost? THEY won?! Nice.)

So, as I was saying, it's time for the debut of E-Man's Proclamations. After I got fired from HoopsHype for being too good at my job, I needed a corner for myself to talk shop, make some dumb decisions and get you all riled up while we catch up with the Association. If you think of me as a basketball PFTCommenter, then we'll be OK. Get it? Got it? Good.

                Thought #1:

I firmly believe in my heart of hearts that the Rockets... will win... with both James Harden and Dwight Howard... the NBA... Finals in 2017! Boom! Right out the gate. Hit me on the twitters and we can have a flame war, I don't care.
Look, everyone wants to keep acting like Dwight is softer than Cottonelle tissue, while James Harden is what would happen if a garden gnome came to life; and while I can't deny the accusations, I can say you're wrong about their commitment to the team. Harden doesn't have to play D for the Rockets to win; that's the rest of the team's job. Remember how Jackie Moon played for the Flint Tropics? THAT'S Harden's game. (Plus, no KK anymore. This can't be overstated enough.)
Meanwhile, Dwight never looked more focused than at the end of the Rockets' series against the Warriors. Now whether it was because of what was happening on the court, or which new Gucci outfit he was planning on buying, it doesn't matter. The point is he was dialed in and ready to rock.
And for the record, no one wants to talk about how this team has been bounced out of getting the chip by the eventual champs two years in a row?? Y'all heap on all this praise to Bron Bron for choking twice to the Dubs, but the Rockets do it and it's, "Oh no, they are a horrible team." Shame.. Shame shame shame.

                Thought #2

Who is Che King? What is a Che King? Are we talking about a time rift where the revolutionary Che Guevara became a monarch, AND had horrible grammar?
Someone please explain to me who this kid is, because so far all I can tell is a) He obviously plays basketball, I think, and b) the Sixers want him. I'm supposed to be hyped about a guy who's gonna play for Philly's 3rd worst team? Sweet. Some 5 star talent they got lined up.... BTW, if you're thinking I'm being too harsh on the kid, know it has nothing to do with him, but EVERYTHING to do with the media (s/o to Chris Rock). I googled "Che King," and this was the TOP hit that came back:

                Thought #3

The Spurs are not dead yet! Being from the H, I can't stand seeing another Texas team do well, but, man, the Spurs just will not go away. I thought Timmy was going to retire after last year's playoffs when he couldn't even run up the court in transition and just kinda had to do the Michael Jackson limp from "Thriller" to keep going. Manu Ginobli is clearly a vampire, and I wouldn't be surprised if he "retires" next year, only to show up in the NBA in 30 years looking the exact same. Manu Ginobli, Jr? Yea right.
And now, they had a whole season with Kawhi and LaMarcus on the court together, with zero problems with playing time, rotating around the court, and keeping the tradition alive of being the best "team" in the NBA. This is just not fair to the Association. If the Warriors weren't doing what they do night after night, we'd be talking about how amazing of a job Pop has done with rebuilding his team WHILE it crumbled into nothingness.
Before we leave the Spurs, y'all want to know why Pop is such a curmudgeon with any reporter he comes across? BECAUSE NO ONE CAN SPELL HIS NAME RIGHT. It's Gregg, everybody. Trust me, I know what it's like to have someone casually butcher your name all the time. If that was me, I'd want revenge too.

                Thought #4

On the way out of the first column, I wanted to give a huge congratulations to the Golden State Warriors. I had them winning in 6, because I didn't want to disrespect the Cavaliers for their hard work this year. I never would have thought that THIS Finals was going to be a clean sweep. Truly amazing.
With that being said, I received an exclusive artist's rendition of how the Finals went for everyone involved. I hope you enjoy it as much I did when I saw it for the first time. P.S. Paul Heyman is Commissioner Silver:

Thanks for reading, and remember: We didn't start the fire.

Sources close to the team are reporting that the Knicks have expressed interest in obtaining Kyrie Irving in a trade this off-season.

Potential #1 draft pick, Che' King has hired super agent David Falk to represent him.

Trey Burke's agent has stated that he is beyond frustrated with his current) role and wants out of Utah.

This just in! The Trailblazers have have thrown their hat into the Lebron free agent bonanza.

Wizards GM stated "Rashaud Hill's gang affiliation is a concern and will be further investigated before the draft.". Washington has been rumored to have Hill on their radar.

"Nikolai Mazuranic is a monster prospect that we can't afford to pass up if he's available. He's big, physical, and have that nasty demeanor that we need." From anonymous Celtics source

"I don't wanna sit on anybody's bench!" LSU swing man Kiante Oakman boasted when asked about the potential of him playing big minutes in his inaugural NBA season. "Who gonna start in front of me? I"ll lock his *** up too!"

                      Rick Carlisle Calls It Quits

After what has seemed like a million years, Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle is calling it quits. Carlisle coached for 13 seasons most notable with the Dallas Mavericks; leading them to a championship in 2011. Sources close to the team said that they had no idea and others speculated that this may be health related. Dirk Nowitzki said that his was also out of the loop on this matter. "Coach has been one of the best teachers that I have had in my life. Not only did he teach me about the game of basketball, he taught me about the game of life." said future Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki.

Friends & family of Tim Duncan are saying that he may announce his retirement within the next week.

Boston could be intersted in acquiring a star bigman. They have been linked to Brook Lopez & Kevin Love in recent weeks.

Golden State's Andre Igoudala says that he is a big fan of "E-Man's Proclamations" and that he looks forward to each episode.

Sources close to the Mavericks feel that Dirk may not be as likely to stay in Dallas without Rick Carlisle.

Rookie Rashaud Hill makes news again saying on twitter; "nothing that I do offcourt has to do with what I can do ONcourt".

The Portland Trailblazers have made public that they are interested in trading for Joakim Noah. "We feel as if he would be a perfect fit for our future." says Portland's GM.

Houston, New York & the Los Angeles Lakers have all scheduled meetings to talk with Golden State's assistant coach Ron Adams in regard to their head coaching positions.

Charlotte is willing to let Al Jefferson & Marvin Williams go for the right price says a Charlotte exec.

Experts say that it is very likely that Tom Thibodeaux will land a job for the upcoming NBA season.

All Great Things Come To An End

The original 2 of "The Big 3" for the San Antonio Spurs have both announced their retirement after 13 years together; all with San Antonio. Tim Duncan & Manu Ginobili could not have had more different paths to the NBA but their careers aligned together to be part of te backbone of the NBA's most respected dynasty in the past decade and a half. Tony Parker commented "I appreciate everything these guys showed me about winning and how to conduct myself. I guess all good things eventually come to an end."

If you think of me as a basketball PFTCommenter, then we'll be OK. Get it? Got it? Good.

                              Let's start the show...

                              Thought #1

Wow first day on the job, and I already got peeps trying to slide in my DMs. I'm not here to make friends with you, Iggy!! The last thing I want is for Swaggy P to try to come running at me, but he can't because one hand is holding his pants up while they're hanging off his butt and the other is holding on to excess jewelry around his neck and it's going to be rattling around making noise so he can't even sneak up on me, and then I have to pretend like I'm scared while he sticks his tongue out suggestively. Then I'm gonna catch a case for wrecking an NBA player... Basically, it's gonna be a big scene, and honestly? I think her music kinda sucks anyway, so..
(Aside: But you told me "Iggy said that"? Oh? OOOHHHHHH. Whoops... Nah leave it in. What's the worst that could happen?)

                              Thought #2

So I mentioned in my debut that Manu Ginobili is a vampire, and we're going to watch him retire and return 30 years later as his own son, Manu Ginobili, Jr. And what does Manu do? HE RETIRES FROM THE GAME OF BASKETBALL AND WILL DISAPPEAR FOR A WHILE. How awesome is that? Woodward and Bernstein would be jelly of my news-breaking skills.
Oh, PS - Thanks to everyone who gave me guff about misspelling Manu's name in a post about misspelling Pop's name, and subsequently misspelled my name in every possible way. It's not "a**hat", people. But thanks for the compliment.

                              Thought #3

So it seems the Celtics are trying to make waves in free agency. It's about time; that team doesn't get enough historical recognition for my taste. Personally, I think Boston needs to go get Kevin Love RIGHT NOW. In fact, while they're at it, go get JJ Redick, Chandler Parsons, David Lee, Chase Budinger, Steven Adams, and one half of Blake Griffin to join Kelly Olynyk. Why, you may ask? They all have amazing hair, duh.

                              Thought #4

Can we talk about the new Orlando Magic logo? I don't know what the real logo is going to look like, but one enterprising graphic designer (Addison Foote, go check him out) gave the basketball world some remixes of the Association's logos, and I gotta say: the Magic one is pretty dope. Like, dope was involved in the creation of the logo. ZING!
Look at it: this is what happens when you take a magic eye, an MC Escher drawing, a heaping helping of blue, and bacon wrap it to create perfection.
Also, the logo can read both right side up and upside down! Who does that? Geniuses, that's who. However, it does lose a point for the upside down star. Seems to me it's more like DARK magic, amirite?
All in all, a pretty cool concept for the team. Let's just hope that whatever the new logo will be, the Magic can live up to the anticipation and give the fans in Orlando something besides the new logo to look at during the game.

OK, that does it for today. Thanks for reading, and remember: You can't always get what you want.

The Philadelphia 76ers sign hometown hero Isaac Shakur to a 3-year deal as their new head coach. Sources say that Brett Brown was not informed of the decision. Shakur coached Chestnut Hill College to a D2 championship last season.

Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Elton Brand & Shawn Marion all officially announced their retirement today. Marion was thought by many to give the upcoming season a go.

Mark Cuban & the Dallas Mavericks do quick work in bringing in Adrian Griffin who was an assistant with the Orlando Magic last season, as their new head coach. Griffin played 3 seasons in Dallas as a player.

Denver's Wilson Chandler says he is feeling good and will be ready to start next season. Chandler's contract is up and he will be a free agent this coming offseason.

David Aldridge Reports that the Brooklyn Nets may be interested in bringing David Blatt back to the NBA. Sources close to the team say that Mikhail Prokhorov and Blatt have had a long standing relationship and execs around the league feel Blatt was never given a "fair shake" with the Cavs.

The SimWorld group is set to host a pre-draft "draftee select" game featuring the likes of Laqua Palmer, Kiante Oakman & Tavaris Leggett tomorrow. SimWorld also just inked rookies Pernell Wells and Jadar Choice to shoe deals with their recent Nike partnership.

J.A. Adande has said that Rayshaud Hill's draft stock may have fallen due to his off court affiliations and that we may see him slip out of the lottery in the draft in just a few days.
