    One-Time Fantasy League (2K15)

So, I am going to attempt this one more time. I really want to complete one year with a mix of historic and current NBA teams. Just to see kind of see how it would play out. I love the unknown and what if's and in sports it's just that much more greater.

This will be a slow moving dynasty. I intend for it to be very detailed as far as stats go and what is going on around the league on a daily basis.

I will more than likely be playing two games per week. I'll pick what I think would be the most intriguing games to play.

            Re: One-Time Fantasy League (2K15)

            Atlantic Division

            85-86 Boston Celtics:
These Celtics cleaned house as far as accolades go and arguably one of the best ever. A 67 win season. Larry Bird wins his 3rd consecutive MVP award. Bill Walton wins Sixth Man of the Year. And oh yea, their 16th NBA Championship by defeating the Houston Rockets. How would the Celtics matchup against current teams run and gun offense?

            Brooklyn Nets:
The Nets traded and spent the money to bring relevancy back to Brooklyn. How would a mediocre Brooklyn nets team fare in a division with an old school mentality?

            94-95 New York Knicks:
The Knicks had unfinished business in the 94-95 season. A team that was known for it’s physicality and it’s battles with the Chicago Bulls, finally caught a break only to lose in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Indian Pacers that season. Would the heart and leadership of Patrick Ewing allow the Knicks to conquer their ultimate goal?

            00-01 Philadelphia 76ers:
Much like the 85-86 Celtics, the 00-01 76ers got the awards except for the most important one. Led by Iverson’s MVP season and the heart of a champion, Philly fell to the Lakers in the Finals and never would be able to get back. Can Iverson lead his troops back to the finals?

            Toronto Raptors:
Led by DeRozan and Lowry, the Raptors were primed to make a playoff push with a weak Atlantic Division. But would the Raptors be tough enough and play smart basketball to compete within the division?

            Central Division
            :

            95-96 Chicago Bulls:
What more do we have to say about THIS team? The Ultimate accomplishment. The GOAT in the same division as Lebron James. How would these Bulls matchup against the rest of the league and would they be able to run through the league as they did in the 95-96 season?

            Cleveland Cavaliers:
Lebron James came back to help the city of Cleveland and the Cavaliers win a ring. But would he and his teammates be able to keep up against a much improved Eastern Conference?

            88-89 Detroit Pistons:
The Pistons ended the 88-89 season with a championship. Adding spice to the Central division the Bad Boys were looking to incorporate a tough-nose style of basketball. Would the rest of the NBA be ready for it?

            Indiana Pacers:
It took the Pacers a while to be relevant again. Gone were the days of Reggie Miller. Can Paul George keep the Pacers afloat in this now arguably the leagues toughest division?

            Milwaukee Bucks:
A young Bucks team led by Head Coach Jason Kidd probably meant that they wouldn’t stand a chance in the Central. Would they at least put up a fight, or would they just be a pushover?

            Southeast:

            85-86 Atlanta Hawks:
The Hawks would win 50 games in the 85-86 season and were led by the leagues top scorer, Dominique Wilkins. After advancing to the 2nd rd of the playoffs they were bounced by the Celtics. Can the Human Highlight Film lead the league and Hawks to the promise land?

            92-93 Charlotte Hornets:
A young and exciting Hornets team, Rookie Alonzo Mourning and an electric Larry Johnson were a team everyone wanted to watch. Can their excitement and youth produce wins?

            Miami Heat:
Life after Lebron began as Dwayne Wade re-upped with the heat in his pursuit of another championship season. Would Wade and Bosh, surrounded by youngsters, be able to rise to the top again?

            94-95 Orlando Magic:
After back-to-back seasons of having the number one pick, the Orlando Magic found themselves in the finals for the first time in franchise history, led by Shaquille O’neal and Penny Hardaway. Can a young Shaq and Penny lead the way again?

            Washington Wizards:
With a backcourt of John Wall and Bradley Beal, the Wizards never really posed a threat when they made the playoffs. With a stronger Eastern Conference, would they shine?

            Western Conference

            Northwest

            93-94 Denver Nuggets
Probably one of the greatest upsets in NBA history by these Denver Nuggets. Can the Nuggets and Mutombo upset the league again and win the whole thing?

            Minnesota Timberwolves:
The T’Wolves have a team that is young but can be fun watching. That usually doesn’t result in a lot of wins. Can Wiggins be the next big thing and lead the team to be competitive?

            Oklahoma City Thunder:
Westbrook and Durant. Getting the top seed now will be harder than it ever was for these two. Can this 1-2 punch get over the hump?

            90-91 Portland Trailblazers:
These trailblazers were stopped short of a trip to the NBA Finals by the 90-91LA Lakers. Can Drexler and Porter get the Blazers where they wanted to go?

            97-98 Utah Jazz:
The Jazz who were heart-broken by the ‘The Shot’ had a good enough team to win it all. But in a now tougher Western conference, can Stockton and Malone deliver?

            Pacific Division:

            Golden State Warriors:
The eventual NBA Champs of the 14-15 season and the same team in tact to break the most wins in a season record in the 15-16 season would definitely get a run for their money this time. Would the Warriors be as good against past champs and competition?

            Los Angeles Clippers:
The Clippers have enough to make some noise like they always do. We’ll find out who is more effective, Doc Rivers the player or Doc Rivers the coach?

            90-91 Los Angeles Lakers:
The Lake Show were the greatest show but in 90-91, they were ousted by the Chicago Bulls in the NBA Finals. Would Showtime make it back to finals and add another banner?

            Sacramento Kings:
The Kings have a hard time competing in the current state of the NBA, hard to imagine them doing any better with this league.

            95-96 Seattle SuperSonics:
The Glove and The Reignman. They got there but it was Jordan and the Bulls who got in the way of another good team, in the NBA Finals. Can Payton and Kemp be better the other 1-2 punches around the league?

            Southwest Division:

            Dallas Mavericks:
With Dirk on his way out due to age and already having won an NBA title, can the Mavs and Dirk make one last run with all the great teams around the NBA?

            93-94 Houston Rockets:
A great team that was part of back-to-back championships. But one question will always surround this team. Would they have won it all if Michael Jordan didn’t retire? We’ll find out if they can escape the Western Conference and meet Jordan and Bulls in the Finals.

            Memphis Grizzlies:
The Grizzlies are a tough team to figure out. It will probably be more difficult for them to figure IT out in a tough division.

            New Orleans Pelicans:
Anthony Davis is the future of the Pelicans. How will Davis matchup against the Dream four times a year?

            San Antonio Spurs:
The Spurs are the excellence of execution. The league just got a little more tougher. Can Pop coach them to one last hurrah?

First off, do not let the score fool you. The game was way closer than it indicates.

A matchup that would be heard around the world. It seemed that the Bulls were able to stay one step ahead of the Cavs. Cleveland kept it close thanks to Lebron James and even though Ron Harper kept playing tight defense on Kyrie Irving, Kyrie was able to score in the second half.

Michael Jordan was just plain old Jordan, who shot a crazy 20-27 for the game, it wasn't until the 3rd and fourth quarter that he started to feel it.

Toni Kukoc provided a nice spark off the bench and had the task of guarding Lebron James while on the floor. But it was Scottie Pippen who would have his hands full most of the game. And you can say it was both on the offensive side as well as the defensive side of the ball. Lebron played Pippen tough all the way, as you can tell from the 5-14 shooting from Pippen.

In the end, it just did not matter. Jordan would take over in the fourth and lead the Bulls to a 39 point quarter. Also a big contributor to that fourth quarter for the Bulls, Ron Harper.

Second game of this double header on NBC brings you the Boston Celtics at the Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets made this game look too dam easy. The Boston Celtics, although in different conferences, will be looking forward to the next time these two teams play.

The Celtics did not have an answer for Otis Thorpe early on. Then Olajuwon would get his, cleaning up on the glass and posting Boston's bigs down low.

The Rockets held a 53-46 lead at the half and would not look back. Boston made a run in the third quarter and cut the deficit down to five only to see Houston's lead rise again thanks in part to Boston's offensive miscues.

Dennis Johnson led the charge for the Celtics short comeback. But Houston was able to hold serve as they led from beginning to end in this one.

Welcome to another week of NBA on NBC. Two more stellar matchups in the NBA.

First off, the '93-'94 NBA champions, the Houston Rockets visit the Eastern Conference champions, the '00-'01 Philadelphia 76ers.

Recently named Players of the week, Iverson and Olajuwon headlined this great matchup. While Allen Iverson would get his, Hakeem Olajuwon was slow out of the gate. It wasn't until the second half that he would begin to knockdown baskets.

We'll fast forward to the fourth quarter.......the Rockets starting to heat up as they hit three consecutive 3-ptrs to take a 90-83 lead with 3:47 left. After the Rockets get a little sloppy with the ball, they manage to hold on to a 92-90 lead with 1:57 left in the game.

Off a timeout, Mario Elie bangs in a three to give the Rockets a five point lead. Back the other way, Iverson drives down the lane but Olajuwon is there to greet him and blocks Iverson's attempt, Houston pushes back on offense, layup and now their up 7 with 1:24 left.

But you couldn't count out these 76ers, not their heart, not this time.....Sixers come back to cut the lead to 5. Sixers start to toughen up on defense, off of a miss by Elie, Philadelphia cuts it to 3 thanks to Iverson.

40 seconds remain, Rockets have the ball, trying to run out the clock but they must put up a shot, it's a forced one......Rebound 76ers.....the pass to George Lynch.....Lynch takes it to the hole and somehow loses it........recovered by Mutombo, who picks it up......kicks it out to Tyrone Hill at the top of the 3-pt line......swing pass to Iverson...the shot and IT"S GOOD!......Tie game at 99 with 10.9 seconds to play...

One last possession for the Rockets.......they set up, Kenny Smith isolates, draws in the defense....the pass to Olajuwon....the jumper and the ball rims in and out and to OT the game goes.

Overtime was not as exciting......Sixers go ice cold, only scoring 5 points.

The real story of the game was how Mario Elie filled in for the injured Vernon Maxwell......Elie scored 30 pts on 12-19 shooting.....including 6-9 on 3-ptrs
                    ...

A matchup between great all-time teams and players. You had a Pistons team who would go on to win the NBA Finals in the 88-89 season and a 97-98 Jazz team that would play in the finals against the Bulls. Although they would go on to lose, they had possibly the best 1-2 punch ever. A pick and roll that was ran with nothing but finesse and smoothness.

Karl Malone came into this game with an ankle sprain but he was a go. In what would be a boring first quarter of basketball, the Pistons held a 4 point lead and Utah's pick-and-roll was far from rolling...and with the help of Detroit and their turnovers, it made for a much closer game at the half.

Onto to the third quarter, the Pistons took a 7-point lead only for the Jazz to rip off an 18-6 run of their own. Utah started to hit the offensive glass hard with their second unit. By the end of the third, the Jazz were really getting in the Piston's face with swarming defense.

The game would go on through the fourth quarter, back and forth lead changes. The Jazz found someone to pick on and that was Dennis Rodman, between Antoine Carr and Karl Malone, the Jazz were pounding the inside paint.

The Pistons were up 1 point with about 3 minutes left and the Jazz on a fastbreak, Malone with the outlet to Hornacek who drives to the paint between Dumars and Laimbeer and Laimbeer takes out Hornacek. The refs call a Flagrant 1 on Bill Laimbeer. Hornacek would miss the first free throw, make the second to tie the game up at 87 with 2:58 left to play.

With a minute left in the fourth, Laimbeer switches to defend Malone. Malone receive the pass from Shanon Anderson down low, Pistons double team Malone, then the kickout to Stockton at the top of three point line, Stockton shoots and scores, 94-91 Jazz lead.

After Isiah Thomas misses a jumper on the very next possession, the Jazz come back down the court and run the same exact play, with the same exact result. Stockton puts the Jazz up by six points with 38 seconds left to play, as Utah beats Detroit at The Palace in Auburn Hills.

Hope you have enjoyed this double header this week on NBA on NBC. We'll be back for the weekly wrap-up on NBA Inside Stuff.

Kevin McHale was huge down the stretch

The Oklahoma City Thunder visited the Boston Garden and the '85-86' Boston Celtics....Kevin Durant vs Larry Bird was the matchup to watch as they both led their team in scoring.

The game should be a good one.......

In the first half it was clear that the big men were going to dominate. Kevin Durant was hot in the first and second quarters. Coming off screens and pulling up and nailing his jump shots. All this while Larry Bird is in his face.

When Durant sat, Perry Jones came in and was productive off the bench.

Boston would finally start hitting shots in the second quarter. Kevin McHale was the Celtic's leading score at the half with 15 points. Larry Bird and Dennis Johnson were off to a slow start for Boston.

We go the fourth quarter. Kevin Durant still firing but misses 7 straight shots including four three pointers. Durant finally makes a three with two and a half minutes left in the game to cut the Celtics lead to five points.

Dennis Johnson had himself a nice fourth quarter as opposed to Russell Westbrook. Westbrook had been locked down by Johnson for the most part of the game.

In the end, the Thunder kept cutting at the lead but Kevin McHale and Dennis Johnson wouldn't let the Thunder comeback and take the lead on them.

Our second game of this NBA on NBC doubleheader featured the '90-'91 Showtime LA Lakers against the eventual NBA Champs, the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors were off to a slow start in the first quarter but were sparked by a strong close to the second quarter thanks to Steph Curry and Harrison Barnes.

Golden State never lost the lead again and won this one pretty easily. Although Magic Johnson dropped 28 points, he was far from hot, finishing 11-32 from the field. Perhaps not rebounding on the defensive end hurt the Lakers too.
