College Station, TX -- The Syracuse Orange entered tonight game having won four straight, while the Aggies dropped their last two after starting the season 3-0.

That momentum seemed to continue for both teams as Syracuse came in and dominated A&M from start to finish.

To start the game, A&M's DJ Hogg came out hot, hitting his first three shots. His offensive spark made the game seem as if it would be competitive throughout. Hogg would eventually get cold on his way to a mere 4-13 from the field.

Syracuse's 2-3 zone yet again forced the Aggies to take a lot of perimeter shots. They would go 6-23 from downtown.

Andrew White continues his hot streak, scoring 16 pts for the second straight game. His hot shooting has propelled the Orange to two easy victories.

Andre Sharpe remains strong at the PG position for the Orange. He had his most complete game of the season today, scoring 13 pts, dishing out 8 assists, snagging two steals and a block. If he can keep this up, the Orange are looking like a real contended come March.

The first half finished with the Orange up 10.

Poor shooting as well as decision making was the Aggies downfall, shooting only 39% from the field and giving the ball away 14 times.

Syracuse went on to win by 18, with a score of 80-62.

"We're playing really well right now" said coach Boeheim after the game. "If these guys can continue to play the zone like we are and knock down shots, we'll be hard to beat."

Coach Boeheim is right, with the Orange clicking on all cylinders, it's going to be difficult to take them down.

If anyone can do it, it's Joe Paterno and the Louisville Cardinals. They always seem to have Boeheim's number, and they head to the Dome next Tuesday at 7PM on ESPN.

    Texas A&M Standout Performers
DJ Hogg and Tyler Davis each led the Aggies with 14 pts. Davis snagged 14 rebounds as well.

    Syracuse Standout Performers
Andrew White scored 16 on 8/15 shooting. He also had two steals and 0 TO. Andre Sharpe had 13 pts, 8 ast, 2 stl and a block. Tyus Battle added 12 points.

Syracuse, NY -- The Orange are 8-16 all time against Rick Pitino and the Louisville Cardinals, one of Boeheim's toughest foes throughout the years. Pitino was an assistant under Boeheim back in the day, and his experience with the 2-3 zone has proven invaluable.

Tonight though, turned out to be a different story. Syracuse and the Cardinals faced off in a huge matchup of top 25 teams as they both looked to improve their record to 6-1 on the year.

Both teams came out strong to start the game, going back and forth, basket for basket in the first half. Andrew White of the Orange had the hot hand, hitting all five of his shot attempts in the first half.

Louisville big man Mahmoud dominated the inside against Syracuse, scoring all 20 of his 23 points inside the paint. Dajuan Coleman had no answer on the defensive end for Mahmoud.

With 20 seconds in the half, Syracuse trailed by seven. Sharpe set up a beautiful screen and fade with Tyler Lydon who knocked down the big time three as time expired to bring the game within four points and gaining some momentum back in the Orange's favor.

To start the second half, Louisville came out in their patented press defense. Andre Sharpe and John Gillon came in together to run the PG position, and they handled the press with ease, leading to a few open baskets to start the half. Louisville would stick with the press and would force Sharpe into a few bad situations, leading to turnovers.

Louisville struggled to capitalize early in the half, getting outscored by 15 in the first ten minutes.

They wouldn't be out of the game for long. Snider would help lead them back into the game with a few quick threes, closing the gap to four points.

Tyler Lydon and Andrew White took over late in the game, and helped to push the Orange to a 7-0 run late, leaving Louisville with only three minutes to make up a ten point deficit.

Solid guard play helped keep the Orange in the lead, despite a valiant effort by the Cardinals down the stretch.

Syracuse finished strong and pulled out the victory, 91-86 over their in conference rivals.

        Syracuse Standout Performers
Andrew White scored 22 on 9/11 shooting (3/4 3pt). Tyler Lydon played a complete game, scoring 15 snagging 8 boards, dishing out 6 assists, making 2 steals and a block.

        Louisville Standout Performers
Anas Mahmoud lead the Cardinals with 23 pts and 10 reb. Quentin Snider added 17 pts and 7 assists, but committed 5 turnovers. Jaylen Johnson was the third Cardinal in double figures with 13 pts and 8 rebounds.

          Sharpe Predicts Final 4
Freshman G leads country in assists
          Written by Antoine Sanderson, BleacherReport.com

January 15th, 2016 -- The Syracuse Orange are on a roll, winning six in a row after dropping their opener to the Kentucky Wildcats.

Knocking off quality opponents including: Duke, Virginia, Florida State, and now Louisville. The Cuse is looking unstoppable and it's due in large part to the man they call Shorty.

Coming out of high school, many wondered if Andre Sharpe would play the one or the two guard. He had shown strengths at each position, but seemed better playing off the ball.

That was, until he came and joined the Syracuse Orange. Jim Boeheim, who is stacked at the SG position, decided to give Sharpe a run at the point guard position, and boy has it paid off.

Andre Sharpe currently leads the country in assists, averaging 7.1 per game. Not only has he been passing the ball well, but he's only turning it over 2 times per game.

Scoring 12.2 PPG on 49% shooting is an added bonus, but where Sharpe's game lacks is in his size, and his long range shooting. Sharpe is shooting a mere 30% from three point, and has a low success rate currently on deep two pointers. His strong suit is his mid range and attacking ability.

To go along with his strong freshman season, Sharpe seems to be getting a bit cocky. Last night, he posted this tweet that many found a bit naive.

Will the Orange be final four bound? Time will tell, but they have to get through the likes of Villanova, North Carolina, Kentucky, Oregon, etc to get there.

It has been exciting to see such strong play from the Orange guard, but let's hope it doesn't make his ego too big, as that has been the downfall of many players before him.

Cincinnati, OH -- What a game folks. Cincinnati hosted the Syracuse Orange who were on a tear coming into tonight, winning their last six. Cincinnati won their first five before dropping back to back to back games.

Syracuse came out hot, starting the game with an 8-0 run. Andrew White sparked the run with a few threes to start the game, followed by a big time dunk by Tyler Lydon.

Cincinnati would play from behind for a lot of the first half, trading baskets with the Orange following their big run to start the game. Justin Jenifer would lead the Bearcats on a huge run to end the half, making six free throws and a three pointer in the final 5 minutes.

Syracuse's zone didn't seem in sync late in the first half. Players weren't rotating, Dajuan Coleman seemed stagnant in the middle, allowing Cincy to get easy layups and open jump shots. Syracuse's once eight point lead was now 0 as the Bearcats tied the game 42-42 heading into halftime.

In the second half, it was another back and forth type of basketball game. Each team trading shot for shot, miss for miss. This game would feature 19 lead changes before it was all said and done.

As the game progressed, neither team would let up. Down the stretch, the difference in the game would come down to rebounding. Syracuse, not a strong rebounding team, struggled mightily against Cincy. They were out-rebounded 47-35.

With around two minutes remaining, Syracuse would grab a four point lead after a big time and-one by Andre Sharpe. Cincinnati would answer right back with an and-one of their own. These plays made the score 82-82. The next two minutes would be scoreless, until Syracuse's Tyler Lydon made a nice post move to take the lead, 84-82, with 12 seconds on the clock.

Cincinnati had the ball, with guard Jenifer bringing it up the court. They tried to take it to the rim, but it was blocked. They grabbed the rebound, and put up a quick mid range shot, that also missed. With under 3 seconds left, big man Nysier Brooks grabbed ANOTHER offensive rebound, kicked it to a wide open Jenifer at the top of the key.

He set his feet, fired the three pointer, and drained it! In the midst of all the chaos, he found himself wide open for the game winner and he knocked it down.

This left .5 on the clock, and Syracuse would miss their last chance to win the game, ending their six game winning streak.

"These are moments players live for" said Jenifer after the game. "I love my teammates and they fought hard for the boards. I just found an opening and nailed it."

Syracuse falls to 6-2 as they head home to take on VCU next week (3-5).

Syracuse, NY -- After a heart breaking defeat against the Cincinnati Bearcats, the Orange looked to bounce back against a struggling VCU Rams team which sat at a poor 3-6 prior to tonight's game. Syracuse came out strong and never turned back.

From the opening tip, the Orange brought an intensity and energy that perhaps we hadn't seen yet this season. Jim Boeheim came out with a press defense, which he normally doesn't use, and it rattled the Rams.

Forcing three turnovers in the first two minutes, Syracuse was able to get the rams back pedaling, and the Orange jumped out to a 8-0 lead.

VCU eventually settled down, and on the back of Jequan Lewis, creeped back into the game. Lewis had the game of a lifetime tonight against the Orange, scoring 36 points on 14/31 shooting (6/12 from 3pt). He was the only Ram to get anything going, and coach Boeheim was okay with that.

"Ya know, when one guy gets hot, and everyone is ice cold, it's manageable. We held everyone but one guy in check and still came out with a solid win", said coach B after the game.

Late in the first half, Syracuse only lead by 4 points. That was until Andrew White came up big with two back to back three pointer to extend the lead to 10 at the half. The Carrier Dome was bumping for this noon Saturday game, and it would continue that trend through the second half.

The second half was a bit of the same, with Lewis attempting to do everything, and the Orange playing a nice balanced game of basketball with everyone getting a touch. Andre Sharpe lead the offensive attack at the guard position, dishing out a career high 11 assists, and only turning the ball over twice.

Syracuse would never lose their lead in this game, finishing strong with a 75-64 victory over the struggling Rams.

Andrew White lead the Orange with 16 pts. Dajuan Coleman had his best game of the season with 12 pts and 11 rebounds, his first double double of the season. Andre Sharpe added a double double as well with 11 pts and 11 assists.

Syracuse, NY -- The Xavier Musketeers entered the Carrier Dome with a dismal record of 1-7 this evening, to take on the sizzling hot Orange who sit at 7-2.

Most assumed the Orange would cruise to an easy victory, but the later in the season it gets, the more difficult each game becomes. This one would be no different, with Xavier giving the Syracuse zone fits tonight.

To start the game, Xavier came out shooting. Crisp passing around the perimeter and into the top of the paint opened up the zone for easy jump shots and penetration. Xavier jumped out to an early 9-2 lead.

Syracuse, a team of big time runs, wouldn't be quiet for long. They would take the lead 11-10 on the back of Taurean Thompson who added 12 for the Orange tonight, 6 during this early run.

The game would proceed back and forth, neither team letting up. With a few minutes until the half, Syracuse lead by 8, but poor decision making by Sharpe (5 TO tonight) lead to a few easy buckets for Xavier, closing the gap to two points at halftime.

"I mad some bad reads, got a little overzealous. We'll get it back though", said Sharpe before the half. And in the second half, they would do just as he said.

Andrew White had a quiet first half with only 2 points. He would turn on the jets in the second half and sparked a run to open the half for the Orange.

Xavier's Malcolm Bernard would put an end to the 'Cuse's run with a big time fast break dunk to silence the crowd.

Syracuse struggled to find the basket mid way in the second half, going 6:35 without a made field goal. Their strong defense would keep them in the game, and finally Sharpe would nail a deep three pointer to get the crowd awake and some momentum back on their side.

As the clock ticked down, Syracuse trailed by two. Sharpe drove the lane and found Tyler Lydon under the basket for his only field goal of the game to tie the score 64-64.

Xavier brought the ball up and Syracuse would trap at the half court line. Sumner, Xavier's PG, got rattled and wound up stepping on the half court line, giving the ball to the Orange.

The crowd really got into it at this point. Syracuse got the ball back with roughly 35 seconds on the clock.

Sharpe dribbled up and ran some clock, and the Orange ran a play for Andrew White. A double screen got him the ball at the top of the key, and he had the choice to shoot or drive. White put the ball on the floor, drove to the basket, and to perfection, hit the open layup to give Syracuse the 66-64 lead.

Xavier brought the ball down and heaved up a quick shot. It missed, but F Tyrique Jones was right underneath it. He tipped the ball back up, but somehow, it rolled off the rim and missed! From inches away, Jones couldn't get the tip in to fall, and the Orange prevailed!! What a game.

Syracuse just doesn't seem to have any quit in them. Coming off a heartbreaker to Cincy, they rally against VCU and again tonight, playing from behind, find a way to win.

Re: Andre Sharpe | Legend In The Making

New York, NY (AP) -- Six feet tall, 168 pounds, speed and quickness, and a kill all mentality. Sound familiar? No, I'm not talking about Allen Iverson, I'm talking about Andre Sharpe.

The 19 year old kid out of Syracuse, NY, is making big strides on his way to being an NBA player. So far, for the Syracuse Orange, Sharpe is averaging 12.2 PPG, 6.9 APG, 1.5 SPG, 2.6 TOPG, 49% FG. He is currently playing out of position at PG due to the roster, but to see almost a 3-1 A/T ration is encouraging.

In high school, Sharpe was much more of a volume scorer. In his time at Syracuse, in his current role, he has taken on more of a distributer position, and for some teams, it's only helping his case. For others, it's hurting.

In our most recent Mock Drafts, Sharpe's spot has bounced around a bit.

According to Draft Express, Sharpe is projected a mid-late first round pick:

Our 2K Mock Draft has him going as low at 28 to the Cavaliers:

Either way, there's still a lot of basketball left to play, and it wouldn't surprise me or anyone else is Sharpe has a strong finish to his season at Syracuse and his stock rises.

Sharpe has a lot of strengths, but also needs a lot of work. Let's see a quick overview of his player profile.

All this talk may be for nothing if Sharpe decides to stay at Syracuse for another year. After all, we've seen many busts come out of the 'Cuse: Jonny Flynn, Donte Greene, Tyler Ennis, etc. Hopefully, whatever his choice is, he makes the right call.

Villanova, PA -- Syracuse has been a team with zero quit all season. From winning close games, to losing heartbreakers, the Orange have never given up.

That script wouldn't change tonight. Coming into a hostile environment in Villanova, against a top team, the Orange would persevere again.

Andrew White and Tyler Lydon made for some exciting basketball tonight, combining for 30 pts, 16 reb, 7 ast, 3 stl and 14/22 shooting. Early in the half, Syracuse would get up to a 24-16 lead on the back of those two.

Villanova being the team they are, would get right back into it with big shots from Jenkins and Hart.

Sharpe was playing solid basketball at the point guard position, dishing out 5 assists in the first half to go with 9 points. That was until a late drive by Sharpe ended with him writhing in pain, grabbing at his elbow. The details are yet to be revealed, so we will update everyone on that when we get the word.

(Sadly, because I use player lock, the rest of the game was simmed without Sharpe in the game. I will summarize the stats and whatnot though).

In the second half, Tyler Lydon would straight up go off. He scored 15 of his 25 total points, in addition to grabbing 8 of his 13 rebounds. It was Lydon and White that would help push the Orange to victory.

Nova struggled in the second half with their deep ball, going a mere 2/10. This is what would kill them, as they were having success in the paint.

Jalen Brunson gave his all for Nova, scoring 22 pts, but he tried to do too much, shooting up 10 more shots than the rest of his teammates.

Syracuse held one of the top scorers in the nation in check, Josh Hart. He only scored 9 pts on 4/13 shooting.

In the end, the relentless scoring of Andrew White and Tyler Lydon would be enough to push the Orange to victory.

Hopefully Sharpe isn't out too long as the Orange rely on him for solid PG play. Senior transfer John Gillon is more than capable, but he hasn't started a game for the Orange all season.
