    The Story of Owen Branch

Owen Branch was called to replace Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim after Boeheim's sudden retirement just before the first game of ACC conference play in 2017. Many are wondering where this team will go with a rookie head coach in one of the most difficult NCAA conferences.

The team is led by freshman McDowell who is averaging 17.4 points per game. Coming off the bench Matthew Gibson brings quick scoring as he is capable of scoring in bunches. He is currently averaging 11 points a game.

On a side note: #9 Syracuse won their first conference game 70-63 against the unranked NC State Wolfpack.

I played the game before the first post, but here is the game anyway. I don't really remember much about the game, but look for more in depth box scores later. I will give some stats for some games, but expect mostly weekly summaries.

MCDOWELL SCORES 22, LEADS SYRACUSE PAST PITTSBURGH 95-67.

McDowell scored 22 points and SG Brown added 20 as the Syracuse Orange defeated the Pittsburgh Panthers 95-67. A complete game from the Orange helped them improve to 16-0, 2-0. They are currently tied for first in the ACC with Florida State, Duke and North Carolina.

For the Panthers, this is their second loss in the last three games as they drop to 8-7, 0-1.

Their leading scorer was Liam Spasojevic with 19 points.

          Next up
Syracuse will return home to face #2 Florida State in a marquee ACC matchup.

Pitt on the other hand will play at Louisville.

            RUNNING THE ACC GAUNTLET!

The Syracuse Orange have now won three straight as they beat the Seminoles and the Duke Blue Devils to improve to 18-0 on the year. McDowell scored 28 and 23 in the games respectively. This team is looking better after the coaching change instead of worse! Only one question remains: can they finish in March?
