To the surprise of many top-tier NBA center Dwight Howard has decided to stay with the Orlando Magic. Howard is going into his 9th year in the league. Howard is coming off a monster season, getting 20 points and 14 rebounds and two blocks. The Magic riding the back of Howard finished 37-29 in the lock out shortned season. Good enough for 6th in the East, however in the playoffs the Magic lost to the Pacers in a quick five game route.

The Magic's season may not have panned out so well due to their superstar Dwight Howard however. Howard led a circle of a drama surrounding the team that also involved former head coach Stan Van Gundy and former GM Otis Smith. Howard went back and forth on if he wanted to stay or go leaving a dark cloud around the team. This led to the team firing head coach Stan Van Gundy as well as general manger Otis Smith. Many sources believe this was in a effort to increase Dwight's chances of staying in Orlando.

The main suitor for Howard in the offseason was the Los Angeles Lakers, who were trying to pair Howard with Kobe to create a modern Shaq-Kobe duo once again.

Howard stated this on his future with the team, "He was sorry for the drama surrounding the past season. He is deciding to play out this season with the Magic and hopes to play out the rest of his career here." Howard also touched on how he hopes the management can put together a better team to compete for a championship.

  Another Dwight dynsty? I know, I know. The last one didn't pan out well but I am truly very interested in the career of Dwight Howard and it's many twists and turns. I've always been a big Howard fan and now with him being on my favorite team the Hornets I'm a even bigger fan. For those curious to how i'm doing the rosters. Basically I reverted back the Dwight Howard trade of course. I also edited the stats of most the future stars of the league like Paul George, Demar Derozen, Kemba Walker, Kyle Lowry and some others to ensure they become stars like in real life. Also I kept players like D.Rose and Danny Granger the same so hopefully we can see how their careers play out without injury.

The Magic have been ranked as one of the NBA's worst according to their site. Led by new head coach Dwight Henry and with aging roster and no other star players other than Dwight Howard many expect the Magic to continue to decline as they have every year since their NBA Finals trip.

All right, following -- Dwight was so good in his Magic days and the front office really botched his exit (and SVGs) and the whole team post 2009-10. It was so disappointing to see them waste what should have been a consistent contender in the East.

That's a steep trade for a young Nic Batum, but it's probably not a bad one -- Jrich and and Hedo aren't what they were (and their contracts weren't nice either, as I recall) so getting Batum for all that looks solid. Batum could play well off D12 -- have Dwight kick it out to him when he's double-teamed and the threes will rain hopefully.

Yeah looking at this roster I don't blame Dwight for leaving. Before I made some moves everyone but Dwight was under 75 overall and most players were over 30.

But on Batum, I did give up a lot but I think Batum could be the third or fourth piece to a eventually Magic title run and for now he will be a great side kick to Dwight until I find the second star to run with Dwight.

Yikes, that roster Orlando has is not pretty. Reinforcements are definitely going to be needed to keep D12 in town. Impressive that you managed to keep it as close as you did.
