                            October 21st, 2018

Welcome to the seemingly last preseason in the foreseeable NBA future and was it a hot one! While this is the season for the bench players and roster hopefuls we had things shine through leading into the 2018-19 season.

                            The Headliners

Los Angeles Lakers guard, Josh Hart walked into the preseason as a rotational guy for the Lakers, he walked out as the rotational guy. Hart showed defensive improvements as well as knocking down a bunch of contested shots. He was one of the very few guards to take Clippers rookie, Colin Sexton to school on the offensive end. Josh Hart was the only player in the preseason to drop 35 points in a game. Hart said after one of the Lakers victories, "Just playing my game, working out with PG-13 this offseason has helped alot and I wanna help my team win and I feel like I can't be stopped right now."

Washington Wizards guard, Antonio Blakeney has opened alot of scouts eyes as he lead the preseason in scoring off the bench at 22 ppg. Outstanding scoring outputs against guards Derrick Rose, Darren Collison, and taking every guard from Dallas' bench to work. Orlando Magic head coach, Jason Kidd commented on Blakeney after a game, "That Blakeney kid is a monster, killer instinct on the offensive end. He could be a star in the right situation. I definitely have my eye on him."

Orlando Magic rookie guard, Luka Doncic showed why he was so highly coveted in the NBA Draft. Luka showed his elite passing and dribbling ability and his length showed against limited defenders. Mentioned by his teammate, Aaron Gordon, "I watched Luka push a no look pass that had me confused, like where in the hell did the ball go???" Before I knew it Fournier had it up all alone for 3! Doncic is special and I can't wait for this season to start."

                            Struggles Aplenty

While we've had some impressive performances in the preseason, we've seen some mighty struggles from some guys thought as contributors coming into this season.

The Detroit Pistons looked bad as a whole as a team, but the guy who stood out the most as a bad seed was Forward, Stanley Johnson. Johnson in multiple games shot under 30% from the field. Coming out of training camp, Stan Van Gundy mentioned that the leash was off of Johnson as far as making and taking his own shot. After the last preseason game, a frustrated Van Gundy mentioned that the small forward spot was wide open between, Johnson, Beasley, Muhammad and Kennard.

Miami Heat forward Justice Winslow even after being documented on showing improvement on his long range game, shot an abysmal 25% from 3 point range in the preseason. When asked about his performance and also having a shot blocked in transition by Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball, Winslow laughed it off and said, "I guess I have to reel it in a tad bit...I'm working on it, I will get better."

The Atlanta Hawks 3 Bigs rotation of Randle, Collins, Carter, experimented with multiple different rotations this preseason. Randle played even more limited minutes after spraining his knee, but he is expected for the start of the season, Carter and Collins struggled mightily to get in a rhythm together. John Collins seemingly unhappy about the situation and his role, "Something's gotta change, I carried this team last year and now this season I'm the odd man out?? I just feel lost in the shuffle and off my game in this logjam right now."

                            Comeback Season

New York Knicks center, Joakim Noah showed that he has something left in the tank. Showing impressive footwork and great energy and gathering alot of the dirty work and showed improvement on the offensive glass. Head coach, Mark Jackson spoke highly of Noah saying simply, "He is a leader of this team, the last regime here didn't know what they had and I'm going to reap the benefit. Noah commented, "I'm finally healthy, having fun and gelling in this locker room and teaching instead of preaching, I'm a vet, I gotta lead these young dogs now...its a brand new step in my life I'm willing to embrace."

Former #1 overall pick and Magic forward, Anthony Bennett has return better than advertised. Slim and in shape, he showed improvement in the lowblock and physical dominance against leaner 4's in the league. Jason Kidd mentioned that Bennett has been working toward earning a spot off the bench.

A smaller note, Boston's Gordon Heyward saw some time in warmups during the preseason often putting up shots in pregame and even saw some time in the layup line!

                            Injuries

Clippers rookie, Kevin Knox gets hit with the injury bug with a sprained right knee after a collision with Boston rookie Kostas Antetokounmpo. Knox is due to be in the season opener but nothing is certain at this moment.

Very sorry to anyone who tuned in and saw the stream disconnect. My CPU had some type of malware issue coupled with a keyboard issue that caused my CPU to crash. The Chronicle & opening nigth streams will reconvene this coming Thursday. Thanks for the follow & for tuning in!
