          Creating Some Magic

          — Morning Session, November, 2018

*It was 6am, Lyric and Ahmed got the jump on the day, hitting the road for their morning jog. Last night was Halloween and Ahmed took the liberty to have some fun, while Lyric decided best against it. Lyric was starting to mature beyond his ambitions and took taking care of him-self more seriously than before...*

Lyric: Come on man, pick up the pace! You lagging.

*Dealing with a major hangover, Ahmed struggled to keep up with Lyric on their 10-mile jog.*

Ahmed: Ease up a little, I'm tired man.

Lyric: Hey, nobody asked you to stay out all night and party then roll out of bed and run.

Ahmed: Nah man, I'm committed. I just didn't think I'd be like this in the morning. Feel like the world is spinning and my stomach with it.

Lyric: You aight? Had too much to drink at the party?

Ahmed: Maybe... Give me a second.

*Moments later after jogging in place, Lyric pushes Ahmed to begin running, but slower*

Lyric: Take it easy for now. Yo, you gotta be more responsible kid.

Ahmed: I am man, what you talking about?

Lyric: You out here partying, wasting yourself. Look at you man, you look horrible.

Ahmed: Well, it's not like I drink all the time. I'm still fresh in those waters. A 40 here and there is nothing. But those real liquor at the clubs?

Lyric: Those overprice liquor bottles you can get cheap at Costcos? Man, you wilding. This is what I'm talking about, be more responsible.

Ahmed: Don't knock me for having a good time cousin.

Lyric: I'm not man, I'm just saying, you're my assistant. You handle my everyday things when necessary. Need you on your P's and Q's when it's real fam. Have your good times, but do it responsible. You represent me and "our" reputation. We're in a position where not many can say they are and we can do a lot being in this spot... Just think of the big picture when you make decisions, that's all I'm asking.

Ahmed: Whoa man! What happened to you? The Lyric I know ain't this deep.

Lyric: Haha, real funny. Still the same me, never gonna change. But Jamarion is here too, baby boy.

Ahmed: Yeah, yeah, I hear you. I'm not going to blow your spot up. You came a long way to get where you're at, I respect that.

Lyric: My man, real genius at work.

*Lyric and Ahmed continues their morning jog at natural pace continuing their small conversations*

Lyric: So that party last night, what the honeydips were looking like there?

Ahmed: Man, listen. Miami got all the bad ones bro. No doubt about it. Big booty broads, these short little thick chicas, you know I love me some spanish girls.

Lyric: You just a kid in the candy store, haha.

Ahmed: Yeah, you know how I do. Definitely had to spit in a few ears last night. Copped a few digits.

Lyric: Be careful fam. Them girls don't like to be played with. They know people.

Ahmed: What you insinuating? I can't talk to these girls without them being malicious?

Lyric: Nah man, I'm just saying. I've seen some ****. Just don't want you in no drama and all good. Play your field buddy.

Ahmed: I'm from the Southside of Chicago baby, I got this. I represent. You just worry about "Little Miss Tammy" back home that you left behind.

Lyric: I didn't leave her behind man. She said she couldn't leave her work undone.

Ahmed: Yeah, we both know how that goes...

Lyric: ... Lets just keep running...

          — Getting Noticed, Later That Day

*Team practice was scheduled today. The way we were playing, we was rolling in the wins. But Coach wanted to keep us on our toes for anything. Without saying, it's a long season. No rest for the weary.*

Higgins: Alright guys! We're looking good today, hopefully we all feel good. Practice is done for today. Get a few more shots in and rest up... Hey, Houston, over here for a minute.

          Lyric: Yeah, what's up Coach?

Higgins: How you doing kid? You adjusting with the team and to the league?

Lyric: Slowly, but definitely. Why? Coach Clifford said anything?

Higgins: No, no, just wanted to check in with you. You know typically, rookies come in straight from college, they're already in a basketball routine nest to life it-self. You taking another route to get here, just wanted make sure you're good.

Lyric: Yeah man, I'm good. I'm just here trying to do my part for the team.

Higgins: You're part? Man, you've been doing everyone's part lately. You've been running like a madman that can't be stopped... You make it look easy.

Lyric: And this is where you question if it's luck, skill, or talent?

Higgins: No, but this is the part where I suggest you not rest on your laurels. You're playing like you should've been here long time ago. Just don't get complacent. The season is long. You got the hot hand right now obviously, so we'll see how long it'll last.

          Lyric: Hopefully all season long.

Higgins: Yeah, I'm hoping the same as well. Maybe you can share that hot hand with some of the other guys on the bench rotation.

Lyric: Hmm... I don't know. I kind of like the guys in the starting lineup more. Me and Gordon, we got some magic out there, pun intended.

Higgins: Yeah, that's all we've been looking at lately in film sessions. You two should come by next week and see if we can build on that.

Lyric: Why next week? Why not tomorrow? We got the Clippers, shouldn't be too much of a problem to experiment.

Higgins: But it's no time for losing. We're looking to make a big statement this season, so team first, experiment later.

          Lyric: Roger that.

Higgins: Keep up the good work kid. You got a place here if you want it.

          Lyric: I certainly do...

*Lyric was just lucky to be on a NBA team, finally realizing his dream. But to see that there's much more plateaus to stand on, Lyric knew this journey upwards would be a long one, built for ambition and endurance. He's a madman now, but still far away from becoming "The Man", let alone, "The One"...
