INTRO to 2k18 "Association" mode (PS3) Hardcore SIM, First attempted Dynasty with complete control over GM/Coach/Players. I am taking you on a ride to show you how much fun you can have with the final title published from 2k for the PS3. All it takes is a little imagination. I would like to eventually start a league with others on PS4 but you have to know how to write an interesting story line. Private message me if interested and show me some of your work.

The story begins in the off season after my first season with the Charlotte Hornets in 58-Game Association Mode (it literally took me the whole season to begin to figure out how to play the game and decided that this IS a VERY good game especially for a SIM League based mostly on imagination. My character is of the new General Manager/Owner SUNTZU420 who, after making a billion dollars plus by winning the world series of poker and other gambling events..in what he admits was his first legitimate dollar NOW attempts to pull the biggest hustle of his career..taking a cellar dwelling Eastern Conference Team to multiple championships to represent the Carolina's in an NBA Championship. In season 1 I irresponsibly mismanaged contracts and made horrendous tradesa.086 winning %. I like to beef with the local newspaper Charlotte Observer. and also talk junk with a gambling style that may very well be my downfall. Last season resulted in 5 wins and I have declared 7 players the future of Carolina basketball. After, literally 25+ trades and FA signings/releases I do believe I have a decent squad ready for next season. My biggest worry is Season 3 because my contract situation is so mismanaged I cannot get around the hard cap to sign anybody long term.

(REMEMBER: I DIDN'T START DOCUMENTING ANYTHING OR CREATING THE STORYLINE UNTIL THE OFFSEASON AFTER SEASON 1 so feel free to skim this post and go on to the next to see every move I make from here on out! (Truthfully it took me a season to figure the game out, difficulty , rules, etc..now back to the story-line )

-CHARLOTTE HORNETS-

((after a lot of experimenting with the game in Season 1. I plan on sticking to the following basic rules with the only option in making the game more difficult- never easier.))

Personalized (current! -11/2018) NBA 2k18 PS3 Association Settings:

58 Games, 11 minutes, (Computer Sims 12), Difficulty=PRO (could experiment..and this is a big MAYBE move up a level with back to back championships)

(A)During a user game, if I ever at any time am losing by more than 12 at end of first quarter, 15 or more at Halftime or more than 18 anytime in the 3rd or skunk 21 in the fourth quarter I SIM the rest of the game IMMEDIATELY.This keeps it moving for its' a long season. In this same spirit, I will also (B)SIM 1 out of every other AWAY GAME (unless on a winning streak or something...but average a SIM on 1/2 of all AWAY regular season games..users discretion which half of the away games to SIM and which to play...nothing advantageous).

Defense: No Rules until i figure the **** out better than MAY CONSIDER..increasing difficulty

Timeouts, Subs, Offense plays/strategy --- Completely MANUAL

SEASON ONE , STATISTICAL BOTTOM LINE and Analysis from the Charlotte Observer

Final Season 1 Record ( 17 -2018 ): 5-53. Win%.086 PPG NOT RECORDED BECAUSE GAME LENGTHS VARIED
Season 1 PD (Point Differential -15.6) Finished Last in South East Division, Eastern Conference, and held worst record in entire NBA by a long shot. If we translated this to a 82 game season 10 wins would be one of the worst records of all time and the 31 game losing streak has to be a record of some kind.

New General Manager/Owner James Shaleuly started the season by getting rid of franchise player Dwight Howard and began a flurry of trades almost all the way until the deadline in the final stretch of the season. Shaleuly does think after all that smoke...7 players were able to work together to gel at the end of the season. He fired his coach in favor of a lesser contract to spend on his offseason FA hopefuls to add to the 7 he has continually claimed could be the start of something huge in Charlotte.. and commended them for the way they finished the season with pride.

"Cannot promise more than the 7 we got but anybody will do we are ready next season for a title run!"


After the season concluded, Shaleuly claimed "We are very happy with the result of the record amount of trading we did this season. We are embarrassed at our record. I thought we could do better, I was wrong. Still I stand by my decision to get rid of Dwight Howard and completely rework the budget. My goal is to completely change the culture around here and the 7 players we feel know 100% will be back are a great foundation for a team to compete for an Eastern Conference playoff spot next season. My work is obviously never done." When asked about the uncertainty in 2 seasons when Kemba etc.. is up for a Free Agent, SUNTZU420 snapped "We feel very confident that Kemba will stay in Charlotte and I think when he sees how much help he has this season...he will feel better about coming back. We will offer him a MAX offer. All i Know is this team is ready to compete in 2019-2020.!!!""

More analysis of Season 1 craziness to come. Never has the NBA seen such a train-wreck of trades and headlines from the worst team in the league that won less than 9% of their games a franchise low.

So after my team did rally for 4 wins in the final month of play I proclaimed that 7 players on the squad were the future of Carolina basketball and guaranteed the public an Eastern Conference play-off bid next season...the first for the Charlotte Hornets since Mugsy Bogues was the starter at Point Guard. I figure I can compete this season in a semi-weak Eastern Conference, or else I am going to have to give the GM position to somebody else and move to California and slowly sell off my 51% owenrship stake in the Hornets. As Dabo Sweeney says from Clemson, I truly am all in and this season is make or break. Follow this thread to find out if I can hang for a third season!! It will be fun either way.

, after Ousting Michael Jordan of his job by purchasing 51% controlling ownership rights to the HORNETS franchise and ousting him as GM..and later calling his re-branding of the franchise back to the original "Hornets" the city used to celebrated was a a giant leap forward but also an obvious move...SUNTZU also said Jordan was by far best basketball player ever but also by far the worst gm of all-time...if anything an astute businessman..it is very clear that their is no love lost between those two. However, crazy or not, SUNTZU420 does have control of SEASON 2, so Lets get to it, balls to the wall, will that petition be granted and his full vision of HORNET Championships come to fruition or will the story end be4 the ALL-STAR break ? OFF-SEASON PRIOR TO MAKE IT OR BREAK IT 2nd Season for Hornets hotshot GM

During the draft the Hornets had to pick up a PF hopeful to protect against the worry that 37+ year Zach Randolph would be their only other option at the position.

Nothing would be promised in the Free Agency period and I truly believed in my 7 core players. My only piece to work with was Kyle Korver so I used him to trade up to the top of the second round and sign PF Desmond McKinney. This provided depth and trimmed off long-term salary-cap money to try and re-sign many of those 7. Truth be told most of these 7 guys are not even signed/guaranteed for next season (if their even is a Third season as I am playing by the rules and getting my *** kicked so far) or cannot be eligible to re-sign until after the season. I thought this was a conservative move to protect the 7 players I promised could go very far if they stuck together.

Once free agency opened THIS GM went to work and did by almost all accounts a surprisingly wonderful job in landing key pieces and adding depth.

I signed Pau Gasol (Marks older bro) to 2 year contract. Also added PG Brandon Jennings, PF David West and SG L. Barbosa.

Lets be real if the Charlotte Hornets don't pull off one of the biggest turnarounds in sports history, than Owner/GM Suntzu420 will be run out of town. Our editor and columnists agree that if the team doesn't at least compete for an Eastern Conference playoff berth ..maybe finishing 2 or 3 games behind at the most and SUNTZU doesn't have a another competitive team signed and ready to play before the OFF-SEASON is over Suntzu's career here with the Hornets' organization is definitely over"".

GM/Owner of Hornets Mastermind or INSANE??

Well the Gm/Owner promised no more than 2 trades this season after last years out of control rolling of the dice caused the team to finish 30th due in large part to lack of chemistry. Well..here we go again.. just before the "Carolina" Hornets suited up for their first game this October the team pulled off a stunning trade giving up every last draft pick they own including the sole rookie on the squad; newly drafted PF/C D. McKinney (a guy they traded up for to snag in the draft and have sang his praises the entire off season. They also got rid of D. West the newly acquired Free Agent. In return they receive Larry Nance Jr and another player from the LA Lakers. It still is the Charlotte Observer's opinion that this GM is ou of control and needs to be relieved of his duties. On the other hand maybe he will settle down with the trading and allow these players to garner chemistry among-st one another throughout the entire regular season. We will certainly begin to find out Oct. 18 when the Charlotte Hornets kick off their Regular season at Dallas against the Mavericks.
