Big Tree Tournament
Montana State defeated Alcorn State to advance to the Championship game of the Big Tree Tournament by the final score of 75-66.
The first half was a back and forth affair as neither team was able to pull away from each other. After a buzzer beating lay up by Sheray Iguodala, the score heading into halftime was 35-35. The second half started similar to the first as each team continued to trade baskets. However, Montana State then cranked up the defensive pressure as they went on a 12-0 run to push the lead out to 10 half way through the second half. Montana State held the Braves to just 36% shooting from the field, including 25% from three. Montana State shot an efficient 52% from the field and 70% from three. Montana State also dominated the paint tonight as they scored 42 points from there and held an advantage in the rebound department, 33-27.
Kendall Waleskowski scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Bobcats. Perry Del Rosario scored 15 points and dished out a team-high 6 assists. Freshman center Wil Archie just missed out on a double-double, as he scored 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. He also dished 6 assists and blocked 3 shots tonight.
Alcorn State was led by Carlos Desilos, as he scored 13 points and pulled down a team-high 7 rebounds. Pearson Goodson scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Damany Songondo came off the bench and chipped in 12 points.
Alcorn State (2-4) gets back to action tomorrow night as they take on UT-Pan American (2-3) in the 3rd place game of the Big Tree Tournament.

Re: Coaching Legacy of Marcus Fletcher (CH2K8)
Early Signing Period
Alcorn State was not able to sign any recruits during the early signing period. However, Coach Fletcher feels very confident in the progress made towards a couple recruits:
"Definitely a little disappointing that we weren't able to 100% lock down some recruits before the early signing period but I know we are on the top of the list for a couple kids so I'm confident they will eventually sign with us".
