      Scorpion 2017-18 Playoff Review
The Scorpion playoff run began with a 4-1 series win over the Miami Heat. Next it was on to the Conference semifinals against the Oklahoma City Thunder who swept the Scorpion in the regular season 4-0. In the postseason the Scorpion would get their revenge sweeping the Thunder 4-0. However, the magical run for the Scorpion ended Friday night as the defending champion Golden State Warriors completed the 4-0 sweep. For the fourth straight year the Warriors will return to the NBA Finals.
Although this will go down as the most successful season for a expansion team in NBA history. The Scorpion’s offseason will be filled with regret from a series that saw them lose four games by a combined 17 points. Each game was decided in the last minute of regulation with Game 3 of the series going to overtime. Throughout the series they witnessed their prolific shooting beyond the arc fail them late in games. During the playoffs teams began to hedge Shabazz Napier hard when the Scorpion ran pick & roll sets. Teammates not being able to knock down the corner three and the bigs not being offensive threats in the pick & roll, limited the 6’1 guards effectiveness.
On the defensive end, the Achilles heel of the team were the forwards Montrezl Harrell, Kelly Olynyk, and center Boban Marjanovic’. Harrell and Olynyk were not able to keep up with Draymond Green on the perimeter, in addition to being manhandled by Demarcus Cousins in the post. Boban could not stay on the floor when the Warriors went to their small ball lineup.
The Scorpion proved this season they can compete with the NBA’s elite. This summer they will have to re-examine the roster and determine rather this will be the group that can get them over the hump known as the Golden State Warriors.

        The Golden State Warriors Capture
3rd NBA Championship in 4 Years

The NBA Season came to a close Saturday night, and it concluded the same way last season did with the Golden State Warriors being crowned NBA Champions. The Warriors defeated the Toronto Raptors 4-1, claiming their 3rd ring in the last four years.
Kevin Durant won his 2nd straight finals MVP.
It was never in doubt, this Warriors team was the best team from October to June. The 2nd best player on the team, Steph Curry, was named the league MVP last week. This is his 3rd MVP award, placing himself in elite company. Curry had perhaps the best season of his career leading the NBA in points at 28 Ppg, shooting 51%, he averaged a career high 6 rebounds & 8 assists per game.
If all of these accolades for the Warriors weren’t enough, head coach Steve Kerr won the coach of the year award after leading the team to 70 wins. The question arises now, will Kevin Durant & DeMarcus Cousins resign with the Warriors? Or will they walk, causing a seismic shift in the NBA landscape.
