The 3ND regning champs Philadelphia 76ers of coach Philly the 24th traveled to the capital tonight. Wizards on a 3 games loosing streak looking to rebound.
And, surprisingly, we had a game. Washington found a way to stay in the game all game. Wizards played without complex, no offensive shutdown for a quarter or so as we often see, the team kept scoring while defensively there were some interesting plays here and there. The highlight being the matchup betwen Kuminga and Ben Simmons.
The wizkids manage a 4 points lead with 1:30 left in the clock...
But 76ers manage when Wizards show shis lack of maturity in the money time. Philly up by 1 and the possession with 33s left...
Richardson surounded by two Wizkids under the basket look to serve Embiid at the perimeter... Interception from Eboua... Fastbreak for Washington 3vs2... but Anthony turn the ball over while he was looking for Kuminga... game over.
What went well
- 3P shooting. Finally ! 10/27 Washington managed both to have a resonable amount of 3s and a decent success. Worth to note that Wall was 0-6 on 3P while he was hitting .39 for 3 so far this season.
- Offense consistency. A more consistent rotation and a team mroe comfortable with the playbook. It was one of its best game on offense in term of consistently scoring against the regning champ.
- Jonathan Kuminga. He may not lead the vote for rookie of the year award but Jonathan Kuminga has been a true difference maker for Washington so far this season. He brings value while attacking the rim, he cna shoot, he is precious for fastbreaks... and, he is able to guard playnakers like Ben Simmons or Jalen Jonshon. Kuminga is definitely what the doctor ordered to help Wizards competing in 3ND.
What did not go well
- Money time management It may look crazy but even at 1-7 you can face 8-2 regning champs and be in a position to win in the final 2 mn. The staff must hnow be better prepared for these situations and figure out better clock and timeout management as well as play selection.
