Starting a NBA 2k20 franchise with NCAA 2020 Rosters.

Background:
The 2021 season is a brand new world for college basketball. In the wake of worldwide pandemic most college basketball programs are temporarily suspending operations. The 36 teams that survived the pandemic well enough to compete for the 2021-2022 NCAA championship have formed a new league and intend to play a 35 game schedule and a 4 round tournament to determine a champion.

When asked about this new formation coach Calipari of the Wildcats said "It's good for our country to have sports again, I feel awful for all the schools that aren't able to bring their programs back this season but I think the schools that are on board are going to provide really competitive fun basketball. We are thrilled that the NCAA has granted waivers for every athlete to regain a year of eligibility."

The 36 teams are going to broken up into two 18 team conferences. Games are slated to be broadcast on TNT, ESPN, and CBS nationwide. The league is also slated to adopt NBA rules including the shot clock, and 3pt line, and 5 minute quarters.

The media is currently projecting the Villanova Wildcats to be the league champions and the Maryland Terrapins as the league's worst team. We will have continuing coverage across all platforms as the league ramps up for opening week at the end of October.

notes:
Not entirely sure how far this will go guys. Will definitely be playing out the whole first season and have a NCAA draft class loaded up. Not entirely sure how I'm going to deal with players leaving, might just have all players stay 4 years and after that "graduate them" problem with that is not sure how to keep enough players in the league. Gonna give draft picks out based on prior season performance so best team gets 1st pick and on down from there. tips, ideas, what you'd like to see all are welcome!

Will be watching very closely this is an idea I also had but never implemented. It will be a lot of work but could be very worth it to someone whose a big fan of college hoops.

Id say you would just have players stay all four years on 4 year contracts. Once a player hits 4 years you get rid of him from the league.

You can use free agency to simulate recruiting. Add a bunch of created players to the free agency pool. Then put a bunch of 40 overalls in the draft class so that teams don’t keep/use them and in free agency teams can “recruit” the best players to join their team. To keep rosters full of a team had 3 players “graduate” they get to sign three recruits.

I would keep all contracts as minimums so that cap doesn’t become an issue. If you want to get really detailed put “player options” on contracts of really good players to simulate them leaving for the draft or just get rid of the top 5 freshman/sophomores every season

I've already added the draft class for this year so those guys are definitely coming in to the league but even if every team gets 2 guys from there a year guys will still be short I hadn't thought of adding CAP's to FA that is a great idea that will add some drama to the off season. Big Blue Nation!!! I am so excited to be back and coaching these men again. We are heartbroken to come away from such amazing rivalry games @ Louisville and Duke without a win. But I think our kids learned hard lessons from both games. We managed to finish these first 5 games at 3-2 despite playing 4 on the road and I am proud of what these YOUNG men accomplished. We are growing we are learning. We will continue to compete our tails off and our goal as always is to bring a championship to Lexington each and every year.

Game 1 Florida
Our opening game could not have gone better for us I think. In fact I wonder if it set us up for the let down up in Louisville. Nate showed his experience in this game and just out muscled and out worked everyone else on the court. Ashton was effective in transition and setting up his teammates. Where we failed to execute was in our shooting 2-5 from deep is not going to get it done against the top teams as our next two losses showed.

Game 2 @ Louisville
I don't know in all my years coaching I've ever hurt so much for a team to lose a rivalry game. We were dominating in the first half of this game leading 26-19 and it wasn't that close trust me. We had this one by the throat and we failed to execute. We lost our focus, turned the ball over, took bad shots, and stopped playing as a team and Louisville absolutely ate our lunch. Those guys came in there with the focus and the hunger and our guys didn't have it. We went 0-7 from deep in this game and got destroyed on the offensive glass losing that battle 17-6. Louisville was the hungrier team during this game but I refuse to think they were the more talented.

Game 3: @ Duke
We never put Duke to bed here in what I really started to think might be the story of this team. Run up the score early and then fall apart late. I was begging Ashton, 'Manny, Tyrese, Nate, Nick anybody to please step up and LEAD us. We just didn't have it. Duke shot us off the floor. We only hit 1-9 from deep here. Concerned about this trend gotta find us some plays to open up our shooters. We have to get our confidence back after this one. Something to worry about. Score @ the end of the first half: UK:25-22 DUKE final score: 41-49. We have been outscored two weeks in a row in the second half. Can't continue if we want to be competitive!

Game 4 @ Auburn
Finally we showed up in the second half and managed to play defense like it's our JOB! Our boys held Auburn to 5 points in the 3rd quarter and that led to a 12-0 run. We need this kind of effort every single game if we want to achieve our goals! Auburn shot 35% in this game and for once we didn't beat ourselves. We took good shots (50%) and we dominated the boards 36-18. I encouraged the guys to attack the paint during this game and leave the 3's behind for once. We needed a reset and we got it. We were LED in this game by our PG Ashton did everything I ask him to do every game tonight and he unlocked us.

Game 5 @ Washington
I asked 'Manny to make a team first decision before this game began. I asked him to come off the bench for me. To be a leader for our second unit and to give Ashton a true backup PG look we have every guy on this roster thinking they can handle the ball and dribble circles around their defenders but the fact is we are seizing up whenever Ashton sits I needed 'Manny to give me someone on the second unit who could not just handle the ball but run the offense. And man I couldn't have been prouder of the way this man stepped up to LEAD his brothers. We are going to keep making team first choices if we want to win this thing and if we keep playing defense like these last 2 we are going to be in for a lot more winning.
