Jets tell Pennington he's gone, new coach warned

FLORHAM PARK, NEW JERSEY -- According to our Jets insider, the Jets have told QB Chad Pennington they're going to let him go.

Pennington carries a $9M cap penalty for the upcoming season.

This sparked some debate within the club, especially about the wasteful spending that has occurred since Coach John Daniels hiring.

Daniels signed the 2008 Jets Draft class to incentive-laden contracts, which could add up to much money over time. Many Jets fans pointed these wasteful contracts out.

User BrwnsBucksFanNC said this on our official forums, "I am suprised about all of the incentives...definitely can get costly after a while."

Daniels approval rating within the league is currently 70, but that could soon free fall if this spending continues to occur.

According to our source, Jets owner Woody Johnson warned Daniels, stating that if wasteful spending continues to occur, he will be fired after the season.

        I'm a very stupid person. =D

I actually have no idea why I did that. I don't think it fully hit me that it was a very big penalty for next season. It was around 2 AM when I made this move, so I wasn't exactly awake.

Dont be so rough on yourself...but that one will be costly. Hey...the first year is a learning experience anyway. But looks like the team is doing well...just be careful with the finances.

Yes don't be rough on yourself. This is Year 1 and you're trying to get players to fit "your system". It does look like you have a couple of super stars in the making!

So how many cap penalties do you need to get warned by your owner? I frequently accrue 10 to 15 million in cap penalties the first season, and I've never received a warning. I guess I've just been lucky.

This is the first cap penalty I've had. I think it mainly depends on your cap space, so if you take over the Falcons you won't immediately be warned for a cap penalty.

I got one once when I hit $22 mill. But I had saved right before that to see what the owner would do so I ate his salary for 1 more year. I think it also has to do if you are winning or not. Just make sure you have room to take care of any new signing in the off-season.

                    Jets lose nail-biter
                    Cardinals beat Jets 43-40

I actually completely forgot how this game fully played out, as I played it last night. I do remember Manningham had another beast game, and Clemens did OK, threw 3 tds and 2 ints.

                    That's all though. Sorry.

Nice! I see that you're staying away from incentive laden contracts now. I'm guessing these three signed relatively easy.

Yeah, I definitely took your guys ideas, stayed with Option 1 contracts and stayed away from all incentives.

A few players walked away during negotiations, only one I cared about having did though.

Most will come back. With back-ups, if you can sign them for no bonus do it...then you can cut them if you find someone better but at least they know the playbook if you have to keep them.

Your doing good, but everyone is right be careful with all of the bonus and incentives, and also u have to keep a eye on the pentalys, because it plays on ur owner, if ur winning and the money u have to spare... I have done a falcon one before and released almost everyone and got fired at the end of preseason because of all the pentalys i acculmated, sadly i had to retire after four preseason games and no regalur season games...

But like i said u are doing a very good job and good luck on taking that afc east crown from the pats...

P.s. I told u Manningham is a beast, but sometimes he can be a headache in the resigning periods... (Think of T.O.)
