Re: A Return to Greatness: The Re-Birth of the Dolphins (HC 09)

I simmed the game against the Buccaneers and won 29-28. I am still trailing NE by 1 game, but look like I am going to make the playoffs fairly easily. I played the Bills game (write-up to follow) and then simmed the Saints game, which I lost 14-26.

Re: A Return to Greatness: The Re-Birth of the Dolphins (HC 09)

(Miami, FL) The Dolphins did everything they could to lose to the visiting Bills, except just lay down on the field. At half time the Bills had a 10-2 lead. The Dolphins had 203 yards of offense and the Bills had 31. But the Dolphins had committed 5 turnovers, including 2 INTs in the end zone and a James fumble that was returned 68 yards to the Dolphins 9. The Dolphins defense held the Bills on 3 of the turnovers, but gave up the 10 points on very short Buffalo drives. Coach Mcshmee was so angry with his team that he benched QB Woodson after his 3rd INT with 8:47 left in the 1st Half. The Dolphins offense must have gotten the message though because the 2nd half so them scoring to take the lead.
Woodson started the 3rd quarter with an impressive drive that was capped off with a 19 yard TD pass to WR Burton to make the score 8-10. He found Burton again in the back of the end zone for a 2 point conversion to tie the game at 10-10. The Dolphins defense held the Bills offense in check for the rest of the 3rd quarter and Woodson hit FB Mauia in the left flat before he was able to drag 2 defenders with him for a 10 yard score, making the score 17-10. RB James ended the next drive with a 10 yard romp up the middle of the field to make the score 23-10, but Feely shanked the exra point off of the left upright. Feely redeamed himself though on the next drive with a 34 yard FG, giving the Dolphins a 26-10 lead.
Back-up QB O'Connell showed that his rating is not a true indication of his talent as he went hit 4 straight passes finished off with a 24 yard TD pass to TE Troupe to pull the score to 26-16, but was sacked on the ensueing 2 point attempt.
The Dolphins were able to cover the onside kick and ran the clock out to perserve the win.

Re: A Return to Greatness: The Re-Birth of the Dolphins (HC 09)

I will be playing the Steelers game probably tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts about me moving to another team. I didnt realize when I started this that there were quite a few Dolphins dynasties on here.

Any ideas? Should I stay with this one or move to another team to try and get some variety back into this board? There is part of me that wants to stay with this team, I have started to build a good team I think plus I have some pretty good coaches, but I can also see where it would get kind of boring reading about the same team under different coaches.

                Thanks for reading

Re: A Return to Greatness: The Re-Birth of the Dolphins (HC 09)

(Pittsburgh, PA) The highly regarded Steelers defense shut down the Dolphins running attack as they brought pressure up the middle. The Dolphins were able to rely on QB Woodson and their own opportunistic defense to beat the hometown Steelers 28-17.

The game did not start well for the Dolphins as Steeler RB Willie Parker took a handoff on the second play and spurted through the line to go untouched for 79 yards and a Steelers 7-0 lead. The offense went 3 and out and it looked like it was going to be a long night for the Dolphins as the Steelers started to move the ball again. The defense stiffened though when the Steelers got to the Dolphins 31 and after holding them on a 3 and short, Steelers Kicker Orlando Mare went wide left on a 42 yard FG attempt. The Dolphins were able to move the ball on their next drive. They tied the game at 7-7 when Woodson found WR Burton open on the right side for a 16 yard TD pass.

The teams traded punts through most of the 2nd quarter except for a RB James fumble on the Steelers 32, followed by a Steelers drive that ended with a 16 yard TD pass to Hines Ward. The Dolphins were unable to move the ball throughout the quarter. So the Steelers took a 14-7 lead into the locker room.
Dolphins Head Coach McShmee was furious at halftime. "What is this team doing? We cant run the ball, we havent converted a 3rd down yet and they have a 2-1 advantage in TOP!" Even though he was very frustrated with the team, they had held RB Parker in check after his first big run.

The Dolphins received the kick-off to start the 3rd quarter and by using a short passing game were able to move into the Red Zone, but FB Mauia fumbled the ball on the 7 yard line, stopping the scoring opportunity. Two plays later Roethlisberger threw his only INT of the as FS Justin stepped in front of his pass on the Steelers 18 yard line. The Dolphins were able to capitalize on the Steelers mistake as QB Woodson carried the ball in for a 1 yard TD, tieing the score at 14. On the ensueing drive though, the Steelers were able to pull ahead on a Mare 47 yard FG.

On the first series of the 4th quarter, the Dolphins were able to move the ball and WR Jackson spun out of a tackle to take the ball 29 yards for the Dolphins first lead of the game, 21-17. The teams traded punts for the next 2 series, but then the Steelers were able to move down the field until The Dolphins defense was able to hold them, forcing a 50 yard FG attempt. Mare's effort fell short though keeping the game at 21-17.

The Steelers were mounting an impressive drive as the clock moved under 2 minutes when MLB Carpenter hit Roethlisberger at the 17 yard line, forcing him the cough the ball up. Dolphins CB Chris Gamble picked it up, running 83 yards for the TD to seal the victory. The Steelers were not finished though as they ran a perfect 2 minute drill, helped by OLB Joey Porter getting 3 straight Offsides calls on 3 and short which kept the drive alive. The last play of the game also went against the Dolphins as FS Justin was called for Pass Interfernce in the End Zone. The Steelers had the ball with 1st and Goal on the 1, but the clock expired before they could get a play off. So the Dolphins were able to hold on for the 28-17 victory against the Steelers.

(Miami FL) Coach McShmee announced the Dolphins would be without 4 players for their next playoff games as MLB Simms is out 8 days with a sprained wrist; DT Lopez is out 10 days with a shoulder sprain; WR Jackson has a bruised knee and is out 4 days; and OLB Crowder has a bruised elbow and is out 3 days. The trainers were hoping that Jackson and Crowder would be healthy but they were unable to practice Thursday ensuring they will miss the game.

Since I got hit with inuries so bad, and after finding out my next opponent was the Patriots I decided to sim the game (surprise I lost 28-10), to end my 2nd season at Miami. I am still trying to decide wether to go or not. I will update the rest of the playoffs after I make up my mind.

Real easy to make a roster like that real quickly with the English draft. Heck you probably could guarantee a Superbowl next year.

True, I was trying to get back into the game and just took the path that came up. But it seems like the few dynasties that are on here now are all Dolphins! So I may start a new one...just not sure who to choose. I want to stay away from the obvious ones (Lions, Skins, Raiders) but I want one that no one has done for a while. Ha...may try the Packers or Bengals...

Good to see a familiar face btw
