      Re: Redskins (HC 09)

Just a few comments about the Ravens game....

Injuries: The Ravens had 3 players out for this game, MLB Scott, RB McGahee and their back-up Center. On game day I was notified of 2 injuries, OLB Washington and G Wade. So there was a scramble with the depth chart before I simmed the game.

OLB Washington had a bruised knee and was out for 2 days. LG Wade suffered his 2nd injury of the season, the first had him out for 4-5 weeks. This was a separated shoulder, putting him out for 5-6 weeks. He was put on IR and RG Jeb Terry (82) was signed for 900k and moved to LG to fill the back-up role.

This was a defensive game, like every game I play against the Ravens is, just this time, I came out on top!

            Re: Redskins (HC 09)

I was hoping I would be able to slide in on a Wild Card to the playoffs, but this slide at then end I think has taken care of that. It just points out the problems with the offense. I hope new coaches will fix most of it.

RB Portis has been taken out by the trainer now, so I cant even use him in games. I hope I can get him traded before the draft.

The discussion with RB Robinson is not going to well. He wants a bigger bonus than I am willing to offer him, so I may end up keeping Betts just so I have a RB that knows the playbook.

              Re: Redskins (HC 09)

The Pro Bowl voting is over and I am not going to list everyone that is going, but the Redskins were not well represented. OLB Suggs and FS Landry will be on the NFC roster for the Redskins.

The Buccaneers are sending 8 players, the Giants 9 and the Eagles 6.

Not too bad for my first season though with most of the coaches going to be fired.

                  Re: Redskins (HC 09)

I am really disappointed in the way the season ended up. I think the lack of skills in my coaching staff played a part in this. I am looking at K Tynes pretty hard right now, but most of his misses have been 40+ yards, so not sure what a new coordinator will do.

RB Robinson was re-signed. I am currently -2.01 million as far as the 2009 cap is concerned. I will be glad to see that change soon!

I will post the final year stats in a while as well as the standings. Here are the final awards:

                  MVP: QB Eli Manning, Giants
                  OPOY: QB Eli Manning, Giants
                  DPOY: OLB Brooks, Buccaneers
                  OROY: RB McFadden, Bengals
                  DROY: MLB Connors, Lions
                  COY: Tony Dungy, Colts

The Redskins were not in consideration for any awards. But I think not a bad season all things considered.

NCAA 14 has both coach skills and power recruiting. I'm not a big fan of college football, but it might be worth the $60.

I love playing and watching NCAA and Pro. I am very excited about the changes I have seen in both of the franchises this year and cant wait for them to come out. But even though I have had both of them, I still get drawn back to this game...I guess it is the total immersion you can get with it.

                            Coaching Changes for 2009

                            Major Changes
Raiders: Cam Cameron has been hired as Head Coach
Falcons: Gary Hammerhill has been hired as head Coach after Mike Smith was fired. He was hired as Defensive Coordinator for the Browns.
Colts: Offensive Coordinator Moore retired. WR Coach Clyde Christensen was promoted to OC.
Bears: Lovie Smith was fired and then retired. Rob Ryan was hired as the new head Coach.
Bengals: Marvin Lewis was fired, then hired as Defensive Coordinator for the Cowboys. The Bengals promoted Offensive Coordinator Bob Bratkowski to Head Coach. They then promoted Offensive Line Coach, Paul Alexander, to Offensive Coordinator.
                            2009 Redskins Coaching Staff
                            HC: Same (17)
OC: Mike Sheppard (36) There were not a lot of good OCs available, but he is an upgrade from Smith.
                            DC: Greg Blanche (46) same.
                            ST: Danny Smith (47) same.
QB: Bill Musgrave (32) Much more growth room and an overall upgrade.
RB: Stump Mitchell (90) left to become the QB Coach for the Panthers. I was not expecting this one so I had to move fast. We got Bishop Harris (49) who has good potentials, but is not Mitchell. I wanted to get Rathman, but he wanted too much.
WR: Kerry Simmons (31) He has 3 and 4s in the main areas. He was not my first choice, but I couldn't keep up with what every one else was giving up. Still, a better option.
OL: Tim Cobble (35) I was very pleased to see him come up here. He is a good coach I have had before. He will hopefully help with the running game as well.
LB: Mike Katcavage (40) He is a good LB coach and was gambling on him being here. He just seems to fit my schemes. Glad to have him.
DB: Jerry Gray (93) Same, glad he stayed around.
DL: Brian Vangorder (38) This was a luck find. The coaches above him wanted too much control and I was pleased to find him. Considering the guy he is replacing was a 9, I am very happy!
GM: Don Ross (39) I was not sure about bidding on him because he usually wants so much control. But this time, I got lucky, I only had to give up "Spending Philosophy" to get him. So I am very pleased here.
                            TR: Gary Quatermann (65) Same.

I didn't get all of my first choices, but I think it was an improvement.

Nice career. Too bad you missed the playoffs, but with an improved staff and a strong offseason, you should make it next year, even in that division. The offseason is my favorite part, so I'm excited to see yours. Good luck!
