Re: Redskins (HC 09)
Offensive Unit Breakdown
QB: Campbell (81/85) is still the starter and with Collins getting ready to retire, this is a position I need to address.
RB: I am going to try to trade Portis (85) his health (60) means he is not an option to keep. I signed Robinson but he dropped to 80/81 so I am not pleased about that! Betts, went up to a 76 though.
FB: Stewart (78/84) does a good job. I need to decide if I need another one though, or do I just keep one FB. I am running Holgrem's West Coast offense so I don't think I need to keep 2 FBs.
WR: Caldwell (80/84) and Williams (80/85) look good. Moss (79) had a good year, I hope it continues. Randel El (70) must stay because of his cap hit. So Urrutia (72/79) and Cribbs (69/71) can be cut if upgrades are found.
TE: Cooley (84/85) is doing good, Tamme (68/74) did a good job as well, but I will need another TE.
LT: Samuels (93) is 31 with Health (88) that I need to watch. Alabi (80) is a good back-up.
LG: Wade (86) is the only one on the roster. He is 30 though with declining health (77) in the final year of his contract so an upgrade needed.
C: Rabach (85) is 30 with 89 Health. Sampson (81) is his back-up. I may try to trade for Nick Mangold from the Jets to take care of this position.
RG: Thomas (90) is 32 with a low health (82) on the last year of his contract. His back-up is Dorsey (81) also on the last year.
RT: Jansen (92) is 32 with 89 Health. His back-up, Heyer (86/88) is on the last year of his contract also.
Some areas of concern here. I need to do some upgrades on the line and to take care of RB. But I feel there is something to work with here.Comment

Re: Redskins (HC 09)
Defensive Unit Breakdown
LE: Carter (79) is the starter, now. But his bad leg means he will be either traded or cut. Bake (76/83) is always a good end to have.
RE: Campbell (86/89) is great. Jansen (76/81) is versatile and can be moved to LE if I have to.
DT: Moore (86/91) is solid. Griffin (81/82) did acceptable. But I will need to get some help here.
LOLB: Washington (85) is a problem because of his Health (77). He is in the last year of his contract so I am not sure if I will trade him. Avril (84/86) can move in as the starter with no loss.
MLB: Fletcher-Baker (81) is 33, with 82 health, but will be here because of the cap penalty. I do not have a back-up on the roster.
ROLB: No concerns here. Suggs (88) is great. McIntosh (74/81) did a good job filling in.
CB: Springs (84/85) and Smoot (81) are the starters. Rogers (77/80) and Lee (75/86) are ready to move up. I was going to move Lee, but Smoot is a ball-hawk right now so I didn't change the line-up.
FS: Landry (90/93) ..what more can I say? Jordan (71/77) is an adequate back-up.
SS: Steltz (83/87) is okay, but I would like to upgrade this as well. there is no back-up.
K: Tynes (83) Power - 91, Accuracy - 87. If I can find better, I will replace him.
P: Koenen: (83/86) Did a great job and will keep.Comment

Re: Redskins (HC 09)
Just my opinion, but I'd try to keep Cribbs just for his KR/PR ability, he's good enough to hang as a #4 or #5 receiver...
Looks like you're pretty good on D, just some guys to get ready to step up in another year or two when you are ready to deal with some of your older players.
On O, looks like you can spend some time on your O-line and getting ready to grab one of each skill spot (qb/rb/wr/te) but aside from RB when you trade Portis, you don't really have any gaping holes, so you have the luxury of taking the guys you want without worrying about some crazy high contracts to build the depth of your team up.
Tynes is iffy - he's got a big contract now? Maybe your ST coach is holding him back?
not to belabor the topic, but I'm excited with the coaching changes for NCAA. I did get it last year, but didn't get the Madden 13 'cause I didn't feel they did enough to make me go get it. I'll get '14 though, sorry, Madden 25 - 'cause it seems they really ramped up the dynasty. I hope they improved create a team. It's one of my favorite parts, but about 6 years ago or so they killed it by removing most of the logos and leaving you with the same 12 lame ones and an alternate.... hate it, but it looks like they might be getting back to the way it used to be. I love making diff teams - an all rookie team, an all FA team, all 50's team (guys rated in their 50's then seeing who develops, etc.)
Just my 2 cents.Last edited by Aurabolt127; 06-29-2013, 02:17 AM.Comment

Re: Redskins (HC 09)
I am looking to do some major work on the o-line. I need to get some youth on there. I guess I am looking at the same thing in some other positions as well.
I don't see me doing anything in FA, even though there are some pretty awesome Tackles there. But I have to be careful with my money.. I did get lucky with my draft picks. I had signed CB Ty Law as a FA, but then I decided he was not worth the money (1.0 mill) and traded him. I got a 2nd and a 5th and a 7th from the Ravens for him. I think they cut him and he was signed by Atlanta.
Here are my picks:
1-12
2-35
2-44
3-76
4-108
5-131
5-140
6-172
7-203
7-204
If I can get C Mangold for a 2nd Round pick I may do it. He would be a great anchor for my line and then I can look at addressing the Guards. that is my biggest concern with the line.
I will try to hang on to Cribbs. If I can sign a rookie with good KR skills, I may try to trade Cribbs though. That one hinges on the draft.
Tynes is in the last year of his deal. His salary is 1.1 million. I think my coach may be the problem. He is at a 1 on Potential. But he has great progression possibilities. I just forget how hard it is to earn ST points, especially when simming. There are no better kickers available in FA though so I am looking at the draft.
Back to the new game discussion. I traded both 13 Madden and NCAA in at Gamestop earlier this week. I already had ordered NCAA from Best Buy and went ahead and ordered Madden. I am really excited about the coaching options. My hands are not as good as they used to be so I like when I can just let the players play...it is based on their abilities, not mine then.
NCAA comes out in 10 days!Comment

Re: Redskins (HC 09)
Serna's not available in FA? I almost always see him as a FA at the end of the 2008 preseason, and teams usually don't sign him the first season.
I've gotten Mangold for two 4ths and another player before, but that was the first FA. I should think it will be done for a 2nd.Comment

Re: Redskins (HC 09)
Serna has worse accuracy than Tynes. I think Tynes is 87 and Serna is 83. I have been trying to find a kicker with better, or at least the same, accuracy. Out of the kicks Tynes missed though, all of them except for 2 were over 40 yards, 6 were over 50. So I am not sure if it was really his fault.
If I can get Mangold for less than a 2nd that would be great. I just looking at options right now. I think he would be a great asset to the line.Comment

Re: Redskins (HC 09)
Mangold for a 2nd would be a good trade. He's a dominant C, and even though you lose a pick, it's like you're using your pick on a young stud player who even has experience! Like the Bucs trading their first-rounder for Revis this year. It's a very good idea, but keep in mind that Mangold's contract is expiring after the next season, so you'd have to give him a new contract. I'm running a Jets career right now until I can start back on my Dolphins career, and I think he's asking for between 4 and 5 mil per year with a sizeable bonus, not to mention he wants some incentives. I'm not planning on resigning him, because I just drafted a good C with 92 pot, he's already 85 ovr, so I'm gonna let Mangold walk. Just some food for thought.Comment

Re: Redskins (HC 09)
SpoilerMobile offensive linemen with good Balanced potential on the Zazzali/Sweetney paths are worth their weight in gold. I'd have no problem giving Mangold that 4-5 million, but I'd rather give him the signing bonus instead of incentives.
Kickers-well get some points in kicker intangibles for your HC and hire yourself a good STC. If possible, get one with a good personality. I know-easier said than done, right?Comment

Re: Redskins (HC 09)
Yeah, I don't mind paying linemen, but with this team, I'm cutting it close with the cap, and with someone in the wings capable of taking over, it seems logical to me to let him go. I was willing to sign him if I didn't have to give him incentives, and I even tried giving him the $13 mil bonus (the highest for him) and he still wouldn't take it! He wouldnt take anything without incentives. My GM is bad, because after the first year none of the good ones were available. So no thank you nick, I think I'll just let your backup take your job. He'll be nearly as good and much cheaper, and hopefully a lot more reasonable in negotiations.Comment

Re: Redskins (HC 09)
I have been looking more at Mangold and I think I will make a good play for him. I hope my new GM Ross, will help with any of this. He has 2/3 on trade and 3/4 on contract negotiations. He also has "Accommodation" special skill. I have been looking at his numbers and will stabilize the center of the line for years to come!.
As far as the kickers go, I did a comparison of Tynes, Serna and Prather and will see what you guys think.
Tynes Serna Prather
KP 91 97 92
KA 87 85/90 87/94
Aw 69 70/90 66/78
Str 40 64 50
INJ 87 84 75
TOU 35 84 60
STA 84 87 90
LRN 90 76 70/78
So based off of those numbers, either Serna or Prather will be better. If I can get Serna to progress, he can be MUCH better. Since he seemed like the bulk of the miss kicks were from 40+ yards, Serna would be the best. Do you agree?Comment

Re: Redskins (HC 09)
I wanted to also let you know what skills I have as HC:
Chem: 2/5
Playcall: 4/5
Strategy: 4/5
Perf: 1/5
PhyD Intang LRN
QB 1 1 3
RB 2 1 3
WR 2 1 3
TE 1 1 2
OL 2 1 3
DL 2 1 2
LB 2 1 2
DB 1 1 2
K/P 1 1 1
I am trying to get LRN to 3 and PD to 2 on everyone. Then I will raise INTAN to 2 with all players.
The HC is calling all plays so I need to see if there are any other things I need to improve to help that.Comment
