    2011 NFC Divisional Game-Seahawks 52, 49ers 22

Finally our first playoff win! I'll admit I had a bit of a scare early in the 4th quarter, when the 49ers went for the tie with a 2 point conversion but failed. We took control after that, and finished with a comfortable win.

      2011 NFC Conference Game-Seahawks 59, Bucs 21

No Super Bowl for the Bucs this year. Good Cover-2 teams can sometimes create significant numbers of turnovers to make up for that defense giving up significant pass yardage. Unfortunately for the Bucs, that didn't happen in this game and as result, their playoff hunt ended early.

        2011 Super Bowl-Seahawks 34, Colts 0

The Colts defense is as good as it ever was, as it had no trouble containing the NFL's top offense to only 34 points. Unfortunately, their offense couldn't reciprocate as Peyton Manning had one of his worst games in the playoffs at the highest stage. The Seahawks won the Super Bowl for the first time, and Coach Smith was carried off the field by his players.

There was also significant coaching moves after the game. Colts OC Tom Moore retired, WRC Clyde Christiansen quit the Colts and as a result the Seahawks let Mike Johnson go and hired Clyde as their WRC. The Colts couldn't pass up such a good coach as Johnson for their OC and they hired Zeke Montgomery as their new WRC. All of this will also be covered below.

          2011 Offseason Period

Coach Smith went to both Julian Peterson and Walter Jones after the Super Bowl win. He told them that the way things had developed, neither of them would be starters for the Seahawks in the future and he had two choices.

They could either be backups and play out their contracts in Seattle, or they could choose to take their chances in FA and or the trade market. Both of them opted to be starters elsewhere, and Coach Smith said he hoped both of them could make it to playoff contenders and thanked them for their service in Seattle.

There were some other things happening-player retirements, Pro Bowl, Franchise Tag, RFAs, and all else. Player Retirements will include career stats and age/overall at retirement.

              2011 English Draft-Round 1

If I had it to do over again, I might have thought about letting Bennett going to the Giants and using the money to trade up for Nate Jameel to draft and sign. Jones was a slight overdraft, but he was a better SS option than my GM would have picked. Trades in the first round first, then the Draft Table for the first round.

              Trades:

              1-13-Jaguars to Bears for 1-18 and 2012 2nd.

              1-14-Redskins to Cardinals for 2-34, 3-66, and 2012 2nd.

              1-23- Falcons to Bucs for 1-30, 2012 3rd, and 2012 5th.

                2011 Draft-Remainder of Draft

Trades are much reduced, but I swung one trade to get Dontae Gales. All undrafted players have already been cut.

                Trade:

                4-102-Panthers to Seahawks for 5-147, 2012 4th, and 2012 7th.

                  2011 Training Camp

This will likely be the last year for the position coaches hired at the end of 2008-Craig Johnson, Tom Rathman, Tim Cobble, and Tim Spangler.I will keep it as a possibility to promote some of these coaches, however. It might also be the last year for both Caldwell and Christiansen, if both are looking for promotions at the end of the year. Either way, I should still have two skilled coordinators and a few position coaches left, but I may not be able to hire skilled replacements until a few years after. Now for training camp.

                  Rookie contracts:

WR Qusean Mack-4 years, 3.1 million, 500K signing bonus.

HB Jerry Ware-4 years, 2.9 million, 500K SB.

RE Kibo Bakari-4 years, 4.6 million, 500K SB.

SS Egypt Jones-5 years, 8.4 million, 2 million SB.

                  Season Goals:

Increase Peter Boma's Play Knowledge to 25%

Increase Earl Bennett's PK to 25%

Increase Dontae Gales PK to 25%

                  Add 10 New Plays.

                  Further Season Goals:

                  Play Egypt Jones 50 downs

                  Play Peter Boma 50 downs

                  Play Kibo Bakari 50 downs.

                    Preseason 2011

We went 3-1 in Preseason, lost to the Bills in a close one. We suffered several injuries-one to a key player in Kenny Phillips. One problem that I will face is that Egypt Jones expects to start, and may not be happy in a subordinate role. He'll just have to deal for the time being.

About the season goals-I'd like an option to fire the owner. Suffice to say no one will be winning rookie of the year on my team this year, I likely won't finish #1 in total defense, both coordinators might be ready for head coaching spots, and I might let Mario Williams move on.

2011 Team Roster and Cap Information

First some general roster musings. I think I can let Mario Williams enter FA, Bakari looks ready to take over RE. It's hard to imagine spending money on a DT, but Lopez has been productive enough to spend the money. Marcus Trufant has had minor stat decline with the physical ratings, and by the end of his contract I might give Jason Wright the CB2 spot. The only other tough decision might be SS-do I sign Phillips or let him enter FA. I might also sign Rice to an extension if i don't want to pay the money for James. Finally, Bellows. It'll be a tough choice to make.

Not a team that looks to have upgraded the team a lot in the draft since they drafted Kelly James, they seem content to fill in the missing pieces through free agency. It's enough for them to win their division and make the playoffs, but it may not be designed to go far in the playoffs.

                              2011 Season-Game 3-Seahawks 44, 49ers 3

My overall impression for the 49ers in this game is that Martz may be gone from their offense, but it seemed to have made their defense better-at least until the 5 minute ticker hit.

                              CU-DPOW-LE Calais Campbell-9 tackles, 5 sacks, 2 FF.

                                2011 Season-Game 4-Seahawks 39, Bengals 19

The Bengals played a really good game, after I had scored the first 30 points to give me a commanding lead. Still, they're playing well enough they should be winning more games.
