Now that's a solid team! Your lineup is lethal, and your pitching staff can go up against anybody's..

Ok, I simmed the first month, and will start doing game to game summaries now. ..

          Arizona's 3 run 6th leads D-Backs to victory

A costly 6th inning by Padres pitcher Brett Myers was the deciding factor to the game. He gave up 5 straight hits, leading to 3 runs, breaking the 2-2 tie. The Diamondbacks won 5-2. Albert Pujols hit a solo home run, his 6th, in the 1st inning.

"It wasn't enough to pull us ahead." Pujols said after the game. "Knowing that Adrian [Beltre] is slumping, they didn't have anything to fear behind me, so they didn't really give me much to hit after that."

Myers was nearly lights-out before the 6th inning. He recorded no outs in the 6th, and was replaced by Shigetoshi Hasegawa, who stopped the bleeding for the remaining 4 innings.

Jimmy Rollins went 2-4 with a run, and Eric Byrnes, Preston Wilson, Kaz Matsui, and Pujols also had hits.

Alex Rodriguez hit a 2 run shot to deep center in the top of the 1st inning, a large part of the win. He had 2 hits, Carlos Guillen, Craig Wilson, Geoff Jenkins, and Raul Ibanez also had hits for Arizona.

San Diego drops to 15-10, still leading the NL West. Arizona advances to 9-16, remaining in last place.

Re: San Diego Padres (MVP 2005)

Ok...I will be doing what the Pirates Dynasty guy is doing, monthly updates with team leaders, etc. And heeeeeeeere we go:

The Dads had a weak May after a 15-9 April. We suffered two four game losing streaks in the month, but finished with three straight wins, 2 against the Brewers and 1 against San Francisco. Beltre started to heat up (.260 compared to .189 last month), and Pujols has cooled off a little bit (from .326 to .305). J-Roll is still kicking *** at the Number One Spot. I also think I am going to put Gustavo Chacin in the rotation and send Fossum or Myers in the pen. Chacin has been money so far. Right now we are 28-24, we trail the Rockies by a single game, and the Dodgers are a half game behind us.

            Team Leaders

            Average: Jimmy Rollins (.329)
            Home Runs: Albert Pujols (9)
            RBI: Albert Pujols (38)
            Stolen Bases: Jimmy Rollins (12)
            Starter's ERA: Mark Prior (2.87)
Wins: Rich Harden, Mark Prior (6)
            Strikeouts: Rich Harden (66)

Izzy has 15 saves with a 1.69 ERA, not bad through May.

Another freaky thing about Beltre in May: He had 25 RBI compared to 9 in April. Also, I played the first game in June and hit a 2 run homer with him. Must have put something in his water...

Re: San Diego Padres (MVP 2005)

And the month of June is done. I put Fossum in the bullpen, and stuck Gustavo Chacin in his place. Gustavo went 2-1 with 3.63 ERA, with 18 strikeouts and 7 walks. Beltre continues to rebound, Pujols and J-Roll continue to kick ***, and the Pads follow a 13-15 May up with a 16-11 June, putting us at 45-35 on the season.

In other league news, Toronto's Vladimir Guerrero is batting .354 with 31 HR and 79 RBI after June. He has a great chance at breaking Barry Bonds' 73 HR record. Hideki Matsui of the Royals is right behind him with 30.

Phat Albert is 1st in NL All Star 1B voting, Beltre is the 3rd leading NL 3B, and J-Roll is the #4 leading SS.

                    TEAM LEADERS (AFTER JUNE)

                    Average: Albert Pujols (.332)
                    Home Runs: Albert Pujols (16)
RBI: Adrian Beltre (56, Pujols 1 behind with 55)
                    Stolen Bases: Jimmy Rollins (21)
                    Starter's ERA: Mark Prior (2.61)
                    Wins: Rich Harden (8)
                    Strikeouts: Rich Harden (94)

Izzy picked up 6 more saves in June, he now 21 along with a 2.96 ERA and 2 blown saves.
