Hi there. John McGurk here. I am a former Fightin' Illini running back who had one of the best careers at the school ever. I hold multiple single season and career school rushing records. I'm starting this as a sort of experiment to keep all my fans up to date on my journey to the NFL and beyond. Most of my entries will be short, but don't hold that against me. I don't exactly have all the time in the world anymore.
To start things off, let me give you some background on what makes me, me. My father's name is Frank McGurk. Yes, that Frank McGurk: The 5 x Pro-Bowl running back who played for the Chicago Bears his whole career. My mother was the hand model in all those Dove soap commercials. He enjoys sailing and she enjoys travelling so I've been to quite a few places and seen quite a few sights. I am 6' tall and weigh 210 lbs.

Had an interview today. Interview process I think went pretty well. After the interview I had a decision to make as far as agents go. It was between Danny Castorani or Jason Morales. Danny has a better reputation as a negotiator so I went with him.
April 12th
Another interview. This time by the media. They asked me what my number was going to be, where I'd like to play. The reporters suggested Green Bay, Miami, or Oakland. I went with Green Bay (don't kill me, home state fans) because I'd at least get to play in Soldier Field once a year if I wasn't drafted by Chicago. Of course they had to bring up the sophomore incident and comparisons to Ronnie Brown. Pfffhhht. The media.

The big ol' IQ test. Was a little nervous this morning, but I did alright. Scored a 70%. Not bad I guess?
April 23rd.
Draft is today. Will update later with all the news.
I was drafted in round 3, picked 12th by the Broncos. Was expecting to go in at most round 2, but I can't complain, especially for being picked by the Broncos as a running back.
April 25th
First interview since being drafted. Will be on the NFL network sometime this week so all my fans should check it out. He tried to single me out, but I have a team mentality and stuck with it. P.S. mom I meant what I said about the house.

Another media interview. More prodding. Media here's a newsflash for you: I'm not going to put me above my team. That's that. It's done. I'm happy where I am.
August 6th
First week of practices are done. I did not do too bad, but not too good either. Getting ready for my first game vs. the Texans.
**update**
Back at the hotel after the game. What a rush it was! Had 1 more touch and 13 more yards total than Tatum Bell (45 yds total). Also caught 2 passes for a dozen yards. Also a word from my agent is some Hollywood movie company wants to talk to me about a movie role? What?!
August 10th
I turned down the movie role to concentrate on improving my game. My agent won't be happy, but oh well.
August 13th
Our second pre-season game is over with. 49-0 thrashing against the 49ers. Tatum Bell had an absolute field day out there. I couldn't help but be happy for him because it was just something special. Granted it was against a second team defense, but 235 yards with 3 touchdowns is nothing to sneeze at. I ended up with 119 yards and 2 touchdowns (against the first team defense). I hope the coaches look at this game and take that into effect, because I really wanna play a lot.
