I don't have time to post all my franchise happenings, but I was 3-3 going into the Saints game. This game was the most incredible game I have ever experienced. To make a long story short, I was down 17-0 due to a long bomb from Brooks to Stallworth and a pic for a touchdown. My offense was terrible for most of the first half. Then, with 1:00 to go in teh first half, I put together a good drive and get down to the Saints 10. I run a fade route to Derrius Thompson and he makes a gorgeous over teh shoulder catch.
In teh second half, I gave up a kick return for a tocudown and after a few more 3 and outs for teh Phins, I find myself down 31 to 10. That's when the miraculous comeback occurred. I went in a 4 wide shotgun set for the remainder of the game, dump passes to Ricky and Ronnie, slant outs, curls, posts. I cut the deficit to 31- 17 by the end of the third quarter. With about 8:00 to play. The Saints' safeties come in to stop the run, I formation audible to deep pass and Boston torches a linebacker who was guarding him. I lob a high and DEEP pass to Boston wide open at the fifty, he catches it in stride, and rumbles for the TD. It was the prettiest pass I ever saw in Madden. I stuff the Saints 3 and out and get the ball back with four minutes to play. After a few nail biting 4th down conversions, I get down to the Saints' 10. After being stopped for the first three downs, I hit Derrius Thompson on a curl route just inside the endzone. I am thinking to myself "Great, I'm in OT, what a comeback." However, in regulation, I kickoff to the Saints with 15 seconds left and lay the boom on the returner with the hit stick. He fumbles and Wes Welker recovers! 8 seconds to go, pressure kick for Mare, he drills the field goal. Phins win 34-31! I wanted to scream, but the wifey would have killed me because she was sleeping.
So much for EA's catch up AI. AJ Feeley, AFC player of the week 25-51, 346 yards, 4TD's, 2Int's, after a miserable first 6 games of the season.
